Plays pretty good, much like the DS games. Sound is terrible. God awful terrible. Also, presented in a vertical arcade aspect with no other display options. Based on the bit of time I've put into it I'd say 6/10.

Yeah, spot on. What is with the sound he makes when he jumps? It's like a metallic ping or squink or something, and thoroughly annoying. Otherwise it's an okay iteration of the modern Frogger games. If you liked any of them from the last 10 or so years, you'd probably like this one.

Definitely check it out, particularly the video. One of the best videos for an XBLA game I've seen.

Whoops, I missed this boat yesterday. Go Go Break Steady is one of the best games XBLA will see this year. It is made of win and awesome.

Whoever the fuck decided those controls for vehicles in Commando 3 were good needs to be given a slap, a hard back-hand in the face and preferably beaten with a baseball bat.

Dev Update #2
Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Okay, back with another update…

So, it’s been a super hectic month here at the labs as we’re now in final stages of bug-fixing, readying a release candidate. We’ve hit some snags with multiplayer and getting language translations done, but we’ve been working through it and it’s down to just a dozen or so pesky problems.

This being our first online game, we have to admit that we’ve underestimated the amount of effort the online component would take in a game like V8. Between all the weapons, projectiles and collisions, there’s just a ton of data to keep track of. Coupled with all the various technical requirements, not a walk in the park to say the least. But, it’s nearly all there!

We’ve also been working on DLC, a video trailer, and various promotional banners. The trailer turned out really great and should be released soon. The scheduling of announcements and other PR materials is being be handled by our friends at Activision, but we will be updating the website as soon as any such info is published or release dates are confirmed.

Stay tuned!

IGN XBOX 360 Review: Frogger 2

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/881/881135p1.html

7.0 Presentation
The menus are run of the mill and faithful to the style of the game. Nothing spectacular.

6.0 Graphics
Cutesy design of everything from the characters to the obstacles and environments betrays the difficult gameplay. There could be some fancier effects to bring everything to life, though.

4.0 Sound
The hopping sounds get tired after a few jumps and the music is absolutely no help.

5.0 Gameplay
Overly frustrating and too dissimilar from the classic to be much fun. Multiplayer provides some enjoyment.

6.0 Lasting Appeal
A decent offering of levels that stay varied. Now if only they were any fun. Four-player multi is fun for a bit.

5.5
Mediocre OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

Things On Wheels Contest: Name These Cars!
Fri, 2008-06-13 08:56 — LunarDuality

CarSad Once in a while we here at XBLArcade get a chance to get freebies in the hands of our loyal readers. Sometimes it's a free game code, maybe a t-shirt, but nothing previous comes close to the pure genius that is this contest.

It's very simple. Things On Wheels (Load Inc.'s upcoming art deco RC racing game) has two unfortunate, neglected, and completely nameless cars in its roster. That kind of disrespectful treatment will not be allowed on our watch. Just look at this one -- it's crying, poor thing.

Therefore we task you, faithful reader, with giving us the best names you can muster. Let them be clever or shocking or silly or brilliant, just put them in the comments below and let us all bask in your brain's massive power.

Load will choose two winners by the end of next week and not only will the each winner's amazing car name be featured in Things On Wheels, but also his/her actual human name will appear (credits-style), launching each of them into XBLA history.

It's amazing how much original stuff is being announced for XBLA these days.

A service that was once plagued by continual emulated titles is finally starting to get in its stride.

Wonderful to see, and as a gamer, I can't wait for it! :D

Interpol Announced from Sierra Online and TikGames

http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/16807/Sierra-Online-to-Announce-Interpol-for-Xbox-Live-Arcade/

TeamXbox.com has learned that Sierra Online plans to announce next Monday a new Xbox Live Arcade game titled Interpol. Developed by TikGames, this puzzle game places you in the role of an elite agent of the legendary international police organization who must track down an evil and destructive fugitive known as Dr. Chaos.

Your mission is to eradicate Dr. Chaos' trail of corruption, a task that will take you to exotic locales around the world in the best "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" fashion. Players will have to use their skills to quickly uncover hundreds of mysterious hidden objects found in elaborate crime scenes.

The game will feature tons of puzzles, clever mini-games and a four-player cooperative mode where you can complete missions with other agents to quickly solve the puzzles.

While I'm sure this has been brought up before, I noticed something today I thought would be worth pointing out.

About a year ago, Prince of Persia Classic came out on XBLA. I'd never played PoP before so I was really into it. Today, for no reason in particular, I decided to check where I was on the leaderboard. To my surprise, I was much higher then I remembered.

PrinceofPersia001.jpg

For the heck of it, I decided to see the top score. It is much higher then the rest.

PrinceofPersia002.jpg

I thought something seemed fishy, but I gave the person the benefit of the doubt; maybe they were just THAT good. There are people out there who OBSESS about getting the best time possible. Curious how much better they were then me, I compared our scores...

PrinceofPersia003.jpg

...only to find that in most of the levels, I performed much better. Even weirder, the person scored 0 points in a level and the majority of their points on just one level. I then checked the times.

PrinceofPersia004.jpg

Only to find the level he scored over 2 billion points in took him 4 seconds longer then me to beat! This is especially strange because the level mostly consists of two bosses.

While the ghost for the level he scored 0 points in was not available, the one he scored 2 billion+ was.

He started the level off pretty slow. Even after not playing for over a year, after a couple tries I flew right by him to the boss. After I beat the level and didn't notice the ghost doing anything odd, I tried it again; this time watching the ghost fight the bosses.

He didn't seem to perform particularly well against the first boss (Jafar); he must have been hit 3-4 times. For those who haven't played it, you can tell when the second boss starts since there is a cutscene in between, with the Prince standing still. I could be wrong about this, but it seemed to me that he killed the second boss with ONE hit. The rest of the run looked pretty normal, so that seems like the only explanation to me.

Is it fairly certain he glitched the game? Has anyone else come across odd leaderboard scores before?

Decided to get Roogoo, which is a decent quick action game. Although it involves falling blocks, I wouldn't call it a puzzler. Just a challenge of your hand/eye coordination and quickness. I think it should be a 400 point game, but its still a fun game.

A warning to you anal people out there. This game has a 7 point and a 13 point achievement. The 7 point achievement involves killing a lot of the enemies (it doesn't exactly describe how you get it). How do you get the 13 point achievement to make sure your gamerscore won't forever end in a 2 or 7? Win a multiplayer match with only one shape to lose remaining... but the online, like almost all XBLA games, is deader then dead. Even if it weren't, the achievement would take dozens of matches before that would likely happen. So basically you're stuck with it. Not the end of the world, but an annoying, confusing and pointless decision by the developers that I can't see any real reason for doing, other than to... well annoy and confuse.

WTF?! This really ruins the experience for me, ya' know? Why bother when someone can just cheat their way to the top.
It might be an honest to god accidental glitching. I can't remember which game it was, but about a year ago someone at another forum posted on how people kept asking him how he got some ridiculous score and he had no idea. It just magically happened.

I've seen similar scores ever since the game was released. I remember reading about it on a forum and someone contacted a player who had a high score and the player himself had no idea how he got it (or he was lying).

I'm guessing it's just a random glitch. Too bad it looks like it won't be fixed at all.

Highest ranked player in Pac-Man CE is a glitch. Had the score within days of the game's release, the player put in his profile that it absolutely was a glitch, and there's no possible way he could have the score he has in that mode.

Kind of ridiculous that Namco, still to this day, hasn't taken the score down.

I'll never understand that. Wouldn't it take some intern five minutes to fix? Seems like most companies just release something on XBLA and then just completely forget about its existence. Hope that changes in the future.
