We laugh but that's not a bad idea. That's completely unfair. There's a statue of limitations on these things.

Its really the reason he was banned, why now? yeah thats sillyness wonder if a pm to Evillore can get it overturned then?

Shards eagle eye always makes him the ultimate aggregation of all XBLA info on the net.
His Official Thread for each XBLA game that isn't shit are great too.

/pours one out for Shard.

I just bought Commando to get that street fighter beta and now I want to get one more game.

Ikaruga is one of my favorite all time videogames but I already have it for Gamecube.. is there any reason for me to pick it up again? I only have an SDTV so prettier HD stuff wouldn't matter to me.. but I heard there is online muliplayer.. does that work well or is there weird lag and stuff?
Also any other new things about the game to sweeten the deal?

any help is appreciated.

Flawless online co-op, downloadable replays from the top tier etc. It's really quite mesmerizing in HD as well, it's certainly not your average upscaled retro title.

Do it.

I have

Rez
N+
Symphony of the Night
Pac Man CE
Lumines
Uno

and some other stuff I can't remember.

What do people recommend? I have a lot of points left over...I'm thinking Ikaruga.
I've probably put more time into Marble Blast Ultra than any other XBLA game (though, by now, it could really use a price drop). Roogoo is pretty awesome too, and very challenging. Also consider Alien Hominid (if you haven't played it on PS2/GC), Exit (if you haven't played it on PSP), and Zuma.

You don't have Gripshift? Get Griftship. No better value on XBLA.

Actually it did drop - to 400 Points during the first "classics" campaign.

And that's when I bought it :)

Not as cheap as when they made Frogger and Dig Dug 200 Points for a weekend, but I doubt we'll see that happen again. That's 3.50AU!

Hmm since i don't have an HDTV, that feature is wasted on me. However the online co-op being flawless sounds very nice indeed. I think I will pick it up.

I wouldn't really recommend Ikaruga unless you're a real hardcore shoot'em'up fan. It does not have a lot of content unless you plan on replaying it for scores. I've played the game a total of 30 minutes and I definitely regret buying it. It's a nice port though.

EXIT if you're into puzzle games where you actually think.

Puzzle Quest if you like light puzzle gaming with a bunch of RPG elements. Definitely the longest game on XBLA.

Marble Blast Ultra is a fun puzzle/platform game. Switchball is another alternative, although the actual puzzles are a bit of a letdown in that game.

Oh my. Hail to the King, Baby!

I already own it of course but I'll buy again just for the achievements. Just like I did with DOOM and I didn't regret playing through that again one bit.

Also, the multiplayer on DN3D was fantastic and I'd love to play it on LIVE.

I will buy Duke Nukem 3d for his one liners alone. "Im here to kick ass and chew bubblegum and im all outta gum".

Is Rez HD worth buying? I have never played the PS2 version and I found the demo fun but shallow

Yes its worth it! Music is awesome and theres TONS of unlockables. Always fun trying to get your scores higher by trying to link as many enemies as possible in 8's. As you progress through the game the music and levels get better.

I think the whole point of Duke Nukem is to parody and pay homage to all the over-the-top action stars, hence why all his lines are from such films.
They never came off as parody at the time. They were theft, but games were small time back then, so it didn't seem as much of a sin.

I love Rez, but if the demo didn't wow you, don't expect much more out of the full version. The replay value is decent at best. Still... it's only $10.

What? The entire games were a parody of the movies at the time.

You know what I'd like at E3? Some retro games announced for xbla. I haven't been following the releases closely but hasn't it been a while since we've seen anything good in that department? What's the reason for this dropoff, MS only wanting original content?

I agree... if they're good retro games. About a third of the titles on XBLA are retro, but most of them aren't even worth 400 points.

Also, so psyched for V8. It's always been my favorite car combat series. Though I was hoping for a miraculous summer release (the article says fall). :(

Alright, since Shard isn't here I have to pick up the slack:

That's right, another Konami / Voltex game that's never been announced. Probably won't be a game for next week though - not a nice E3 king of 'surprise'.

I know of at least 5 games that haven't been announced, or seen anywhere on the internet - not even on Partnernet. And I am sooo god damn hyped for one of them.

They'd better announce it at E3 - you'll see me yelling it every 60 seconds in the giant E3 event topic if they do show it :)

Awesome update. Secondly I'm glad you hosted those montages on your site! I've kept them on my 360 HDD just so I have them, but I'm running out of HDD space like crazy...awesome awesome.

Damn you.

Also, looking back at those old montages, I can't believe War World and Feeding Frenzy 2 haven't come out yet. Canceled, perhaps?

Pre-determined de-listing.

And I need Bionic Commando and SFHD now! :(

I'll bite on Puzzle Quest for sure, and probably Coffeetime Crosswords.

Still undecided on whether to get Megaman 9 for WiiWare or PSN. Looking at the 360 dpad I'm going to have to pass on the XBLA version, achievements or no achievements.

Feeding Frenzy 2 was previewed a few weeks ago, so it's still on course.

I actually e-mailed the War World dudes - they're an Australian group - it's still coming.. somewhat.

"Yeah War World has been a bit delayed. It is really tough squeezing so much graphics into the 150MB limit we have J Everything in the game is fully normal mapped and looks as good as a retail game so it has been a struggle to get it all squeezed in. But we did it. It is now up to Microsoft and Ubisoft exactly when it will be released."

And yeah, I love Microsoft's Montages. I've actually got a whole lot of them up on Viddler, I'll make a post with all of them probably some hours before the actual one - along with a guessing game to see if we can guess the music used :lol
