Damn you.

Also, looking back at those old montages, I can't believe War World and Feeding Frenzy 2 haven't come out yet. Canceled, perhaps?

I emailed Morten Brodersen of third wave games about War World on 17th March and this was the response I got:

Hi Steve

Don’t worry. War World is coming to XBLA.

It is up to Microsoft when it will be released. They sometimes release games right away and sometimes after quite a few months. It is all about how a specific game fit within the overall launch strategy. It is not something we the developer decides.

We are busy working on our next title.

Cheers
Morten

So... what about almost a year later? >.<

Buccaneer looks interesting. Wouldn't mind doing a spot of plundering. Had a look at the company website & the game seems to have been in development quite a while. Or has it already been released on PC? Wasn't clear from the website.

I know of at least 5 games that haven't been announced, or seen anywhere on the internet - not even on Partnernet. And I am sooo god damn hyped for one of them.

They'd better announce it at E3 - you'll see me yelling it every 60 seconds in the giant E3 event topic if they do show it :)

Awesome. Can you give us a hint?

It's the most awesomenest game in the world.
OMG DAYTONA :p

Actually, surely you can give us a mini-hint? Like where in the world was the original game developed? Japan / US / Europe? That should give me an indication of what kinda game to be expecting :)

Will it be a XBLA megaton? Surely only the most awesomenest game in the world can do that.

I can't say. I would say I'm the only one that probably cares, though :)

And what was up with that Vigilante 8 video? It showed nothing of in-game footage outside of small movement :(

DAMN YOU FOR TEASING MY HEART.
Best thing on Dreamcast. I gave the 56k modem a right thrashing.

Great memories of the original arcade too. 60fps + 3D was just totally fucking hypnotic and wowsome back then.

I really really really really really really really REALLY hope Duke Nukem 3D is released at E3 as a 'surprise' or whatever. But then I remembered, Doom was actually released during X06 and not a previous E3, amiright?

Now that Ps3 has trophies (and a bigger harddrive in my case), I think I'll be picking up the dual release games on PsN rather than XBLA. The fact that almost 3 years later we still don't have an "arcade" controller or any other X360 option with a decent dpad is just ridiculously frustrating. I don't play Street Fighter 2 half as much as I would've if I had a controller with a decent dpad.

so buy a joystick? the ps3 pad is just as shit for SF2

So you will try the demos on 360 and buy the games on PS3 ?

And for the controller, you've made me laugh.

So, what's the word on the new Golf game. Worth it if you're a HotShots fan?
Hope I'm not too late to stop you. It's horrible!
Course design sucks. Trees at the end of fairways?!?! I mean I know it's an arcade game but couldn't they have made it closer to golf than mini golf.
You are either on the fairway or HEAVY rough where your next shot will only go about 50 yards.
Not good.

Yep, that's the plan. Anyway, it would be WAY more convenient for me to buy the games on XBLA. I already have a good roster of XBLA games, my wife owns a Zune so we always have points, and I have tons more friends on XBLA to play the games with. Meanwhile, I don't own a single PsN game and my Ps3 is mainly my movie player. But the dpad issue is just bordering on absurdity. It's the worst dpad I've ever experienced and it seems like such an EASY thing for them to address. *sigh*

so buy a joystick? the ps3 pad is just as shit for SF2

It would be literally IMPOSSIBLE for the Ps3 pad to match the X360's dpad shittiness level, for anything.

People still use a dpad for anything? I've been analog for fighting games since the damn dreamcast.

Oh and seriously, fuck off for suggesting Daytona. I've had such a shitty day since reading that, nothing's going to feel right till I play it again.

The first course is enjoyable but then they ramp up the difficulty far too much & in far too cheap a way for the second. As you said, awkwardly placed trees, heavy rough & also winds that make it impossible to stay on par if they're against you.
I think the parkland course would have been acceptable if there were 5 or 6 courses & it was an extra tough final challenge but as it's half the game, it just isn't fun to play.

Still waiting for Talisman.
pretty sure this is dead. Games Workshop unloaded a ton of stuff including the Warhammer 40K RPG, Talisman, and basically everything that was done by Black Industries. Fantasy Flight Games picked up the rights to most of it, but I'm not sure if the rights for the video game transferred as well... at this point I pretty much just wouldn't expect it unless there is something obvious that I missed.

Buccaneer and CodaChain both look really cool. Looking forward to the E3 reveals!

I still think the biggest thing MS could do at E3 is add the XNA support though. Game-tube is going to be amazing.

Thx. I guess I won't be able to get my 360 hotshots fix :(

It's too bad too I want to like it. As A-v said they ramp up the difficulty on the second course making it not fun. Shots from the rough are such a penalty. Like real golf yes but 1 inch off the fairway, come on. If you could upgrade clubs the more you played i would go back for more but I've played the two courses and I feel like I've already got my fill.
I hear you though I want a PS3 more for Hot Shots than MGS4 or Uncharted.:D
Give me another Links MS!!!!!!!!!1

The Dual Shock brand are the shittest controllers especially that God awful d-pad out there for any type of game, right next to the Atari Jaguar controllers. Anyway no joypad has ever matched the Saturn and Genesis in any category.

Achievements > Trophies IMO.

I'll likely be picking up my multiplatform games on XBLA.

unless you mean it's X-Com, in which case I'll die.

Hate to quote myself, but Shane on 1up Yours this week said he expected Microsoft to announce something with X-Com at E3.

I'm so dead.

Yeah, from the demo that golf game is every bit as shitty as I had originally expected. Judging from previews +1.
And it's disappointing considering that SSHD is one of the best downloadable games out there.

Actually they've officially announced what's coming out next week:

Coffeetime Crosswords and Shred Nebula!

http://www.gamerbytes.com/2008/07/your_xbla_released_next_week_c.php

As well as Puzzle Quest getting a price cut to 800 Points and a Buku Sudoku expansion pack.

That's practically every single 'kind' of XBLA thing they could do - except Xbox Originals. I'm gonna guess Halo 2 XBO maybe...

Also, Capcom's next title - FLOCK is announced!

http://www.gamerbytes.com/2008/07/capcom_announce_flock_for_psn.php

It actually looks pretty damn fun. Definitely check it out.

So I just got a 360 last week and never really paid attention to XBLA. Can you guys give me some recommendations?

I already own Ikaruga on GCN. Is it worth getting it on XBLA?

Those are my top picks, and I would add Uno, Carcassone, Undertow, N+ and Poker Smash to the list, and possibly Puzzle Quest after the price drop if you're a puzzle fan. But those are all solid titles so you should start downloading demos to see what appeals the most to you.
