http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbonated_Games
According to the Wikipedia entry on Carbonated Games, the studio apparently got dissolved about 3 months ago and literally nobody else noticed. There is a bit of credence to this as the Carbonated Games Website now redirects to the larger Microsoft Casual games Website.
Still, if Carbonated Games is indeed gone is does beg the question as to who is developing UNO Rush and who exactly finished Fable 2 Pub Games.

Oh yeah, I bet that just blew your mind.
Chiaroscuro said:I recall a news some weeks ago (around E3) that said MS was establishing a XBLA only internal studio (not Carbonated). Could this studio be formed in part by former Carbonated staff and made those games?

At least that's what I'm doing. It's one of my favorite 8-bit games, and I want to show Capcom support for taking the risk w/ the lower price point. Sure, I'll end up spending $20, but I'd much rather do that than support a 50% increase (Braid) over the typical XBLA/PSN cost. I love the risks Capcom is taking w/ DLC games, and their stuff in general, so I want to be sure to vote w/ my wallet.
If I had to go w/ one, I'd go w/ the PS3 for the d-pad. They're both 1080p, right?

1 x 2100 points - 7% of £6.89 (£0.48)
2 x 2100 points - 7% of £17.68 (£1.24)
3 x 2100 points - 7% of £28.47 (£1.99)
4 x 2100 points - 7% of £39.26 (£2.75)
...etc
So technically given I just ordered 4 x 2100 I get each card for £12.32 after quidco.
That's £7.04 for a 1200 point game and £4.69 for an 800 point game. Win! :lol

Jigsaw puzzles are time-tested entertainment for family members and groups of friends to spread out on the table and work on. With a leap into the digital age, Eidos Puzzle Arcade is an Xbox Live Arcade title that offers a wide variety of jigsaw puzzles for you to solve by yourself or with friends. While it doesnt sound like a must-have, it might surprise you given our first look at the game.
On the single-player side of the game, Puzzle Arcade offers multiple gameplay modes. Picture Puzzles is the basic format, where you solve straight-up puzzles with the ability to set the construction mode (Classic is a normal layout where the pieces are all spread out, while Turbo puts the pieces in more orderly rows that are sortable); experience level (Beginner, Intermediate or Expert); the number of pieces you want (ranging from the child-like 12 to over a thousand) and even the shapes of pieces. Dynamic Puzzles are similar to Picture Puzzles, though as youre putting the puzzle together, you get dynamic changes to the image, which makes it a bit more challenging. The Xbox Live Vision Puzzle enables you to grab a frame from the camera and use that as a picture to be made into a puzzle. Theres also a Weekly Puzzle that will enable you to download a new puzzle every week.
The other modes are like puzzles within puzzles. Challenge Puzzles are jigsaws that have a twist, such as having AI players move pieces around while youre trying to solve the puzzle or putting a timer on your play and having the puzzle solving end if you dont keep up the pace of connecting pieces within 15 seconds until the image is fully reassembled. Meanwhile, Fractal Puzzles is a weird mode that takes each piece of a big puzzle, and breaks it down into a mini-puzzle of its own. The Fractal challenges can take you a long time to complete, which makes the ability to save your puzzle solve in progress a big benefit.
Fractal puzzles break up each piece into smaller pieces.
Theres also a series of multiplayer modes, with competitive and cooperative action for up to four players, on the same console or over an Xbox Live connection. We didnt give that a tryout, but it probably gets pretty hecticmuch like the frenzy that happens when your down to the last few pieces in a real jigsaw puzzle, when everyone wants to be the one to put in the last piece.
For those who want to admire their handiwork, Puzzle Arcade also provides a gallery of all the completed puzzles that you can visit and tour. Im not sure how much players will want to look at the pictures that made up their puzzles, but its there if you want to check out what youve accomplished.
Of course, there are also leaderboards so you can compare your results with others on Xbox Live, and there are the default 12 achievements with a total of 200 points available. The full list of milestones is at the end of this preview.
Eidos wasnt able to tell us when the game was due to hit the Marketplace, but it looks polished enough that it could be released any day. Well bring you a full assessment of Puzzle Arcade when we get the final word that its being released for download.

Also, which is the greater risk? A new IP that looks like a watercolour & has a narrative about love and loss, or, a famous IP about blasting Nazis?
2&2 said:I see your point about the risk from a creative standpoint, but Braid is not an indie game the publisher is putting out himself.
Brakara said:He put himself in debt in order to make the game. That's not a risk? If he doesn't make any money on Braid, he'll not be able to make any more games. That's not a risk?
omg, please send me a card, i will give you 14£ immediately!Psychotext said:So technically given I just ordered 4 x 2100 I get each card for £12.32 after quidco.
There probably isn't much financial risk from the publisher's point of view, but if Braid had bombed, MS would probably be more averse to indie games in the future. Which would be sad.2&2 said:Yes, of course it is. I don't disagree with most of what's been said about the author putting a lot on the line for the game. He definitely has. I think in order to compare "risk", we need to be sure we're talking about in the same basis for comparison, be it from the developers', publishers', or purely creative point of view.
No doubt Capcom is taking a pretty big risk, too, but that doesn't make Braid any less worthy of your support.I only submit for consideration that Capcom could be charging a lot more for an established IP, but are not. I don't see a problem with supporting them for that decision.

This is true because both games will have some feature to where they go together huh? I forgot all about this. I was leaning towards the PS3 version of the 2D BC because of the 360's horrible D-pad. But I plan on playing the 3D version of BC on 360 because I like it's analog sticks better.Spruchy said:Think i'm gonna go with the 360 version because thats where im getting bionic commando next gen, but thanks for letting me inside the mind of a nutter!
