Duke Nukem 3D is the game I've always wanted to release on the digital download services, so I'm all over this.

I owned both the PC version, several expansions, the Nintendo 64 game (which was very fun), and also played it online years later.

I might have to resubscribe to Xbox Live for this game.

So, this is not fully XBLA related, but all you people who are waiting für more Mega Drive / Genesis classics to come out on the 360 -> Gamefly lists "Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection" for a 02/2009 release...

Awesome, hopefully it includes everything from Mega Collection Plus and Gems Collection... :D

ndie developer The Behemoth released Castle Crashers just over two weeks ago, and has told Gamasutra that the game has now reached 250,000 players, also revealing patch plans for the game and a 5-fold increase in Alien Hominid HD players due to CC's release.

“I’m pleasantly surprised that so many people are playing the game,” says Behemoth lead artist Dan Paladin to Gamasutra, confirming that a quarter of a million players are now on the game's leaderboards. “I was optimistic and hopeful for Castle Crashers but I wasn't prepared for the reception it got."

The company released Alien Hominid HD, an update to its original retail title, earlier in 2007 -- but with the release of Castle Crashers, which has multiple references to that other title, Alien Hominid HD has climbed up the leaderboards.

This doesn’t necessarily imply many additional sales, but those who purchased it are dusting off the game, partially because obtaining one of its achievements unlocks a character in Castle Crashers.

“Before Castle launched, Alien was doing pretty well and selling very consistently,” says Paladin. “But since launch we've seen a rediscovery of the game and approximately five times the number of people are now playing the game compared to earlier this year.”

Was The Behemoth worried about how the overt “buy our game” messages would be received? “Not too much,” says Paladin. “Most gamers know that Castle Crashers exists because our hardcore fans bought Alien Hominid HD, which helped keep the doors open to develop Castle. The Behemoth is a small company doing one game at a time and not a mega-publisher with money to burn.”

Naturally, the big topic at the moment is the connectivity problems the game has faced, with online matches frequently dropping players and losing their experience points.

“We've made a number of changes,” Paladin says, “but they are difficult to test fully until it is released to the public network. We are doing a lot of testing on a private network, but it isn't exactly the same. As for timing, Microsoft has a detailed process that we must follow for fixing issues that crop up after release. It is not a simple process of fix something and release an update.”

“You fix, you test, you verify in as many situations as possible, you fix again if you need to, you submit the update to Microsoft, they verify the fix, etcetera," he continues.

"It goes on for a while. Feedback from our community has been great -- specifically our forums -- as it gives us information to work with to resolve these issues. As for when it will be done and released, we are working as hard as we can on it so we really appreciate everyone's patience and support.”

2K Sports Announces MLB Stickball

2K Sports announced today that MLB® Stickball, an exciting, fast-paced, multiplayer game that puts gamers against each other to see whose team can win a classic game of stickball, is scheduled to be available on the Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft on October 8th.

In MLB® Stickball, gamers can buy and collect packs of Topps “Big Head” Major League Baseball cards. Each time a pack is opened, those players are unlocked and added to each Major League team to play!

Part of the fun of stickball is the custom rules for each city, just like the rules kids create when they play in their own neighborhoods! MLB® Stickball can be played on the streets of a number of big cities, including New York, San Francisco and Boston. In addition to scoring runs in the stickball game itself, there will be objects scattered throughout each environment that serve as targets or hazards for the batter. Smack the ball off the fire hydrant and get it to spray water into the street and your team will be richly rewarded; break a window, though, and you’re out!

Damn, that sounds pretty fun.

why must you post such crap in here man? you know damn well that crap is real

There's some real losers in here posting such stupid crap sometimes..

Hopefully Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection is Sonic 3 + Knuckles.

It'd make no sense to repackage the first two games which are already available on XBLA. Bundle the other two games for 800 points and boom there ya go.

Personally though what about Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder? Sega should have something out to coincide with their next-gen Golden Axe game.

Well they could be doing what Namco are also doing. Namco are putting a bunch of classic titles on a disc along with some XBLA titles.

http://www.namcobandaigames.com/news/press/press/301/page/1

It contains Pac Man CE, Mr. Driller Online, Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, and Dig Dug for XBLA titles, and then another 25 other titles like Rolling Thunder and Galaga '88.

SEGA have released Sonic, Sonic 2, Streets of Rage 2, Golden Axe and Ecco The Dolphin on XBLA. Maybe they're doing the same thing.

I'd still rather them release them seperately, really, but we haven't seen anything from Digital Eclipse part of Backbone for a long time - and they appear to be closing down once their last few titles are completed. Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Ristar could easily do incredibly well on the Xbox Live Arcade by themselves. I'd love them to put together some Master System classics too.

Wonder Boy! Must... have... Wonder Boy 3

Since Megadrive games are 400 Points on the XBLA, I'd like to see 2 games for 400 for MS:

Sonic 1 / Sonic 2
Alex Kidd in Miracle World / Alex Kidd in Shinobi World
Donald Duck Lucky Dime Caper / Deep Duck Trouble
Psycho Fox / Wonder Boy
Sonic Chaos / Sonic Triple Trouble
Fantasy Zone / Fantasy Zone 2 / The Maze
Shinobi / Shadow Dancer
Golden Axe Warrior / Ax Battler
Mickey Mouse Land of Illusion / Legend of Illusion
Master of Darkness / [Dunno??]
Phantasy Star [Alone?]
Wonder Boy in Monster Land / III: Dragon's Trap
Zillion / Zillion II

Well, it's coming to PS3 too, so maybe it's something else. I bet this Genesis collection doesn't include Streets of Rage 1 either though :/

Sonic 3 & Knuckles = day 1. Although I'd much prefer it on my hard drive rather than a disc...

Agreed. But frankly I'd like to see a lot more for me to buy it a third time.

There is so much potential in terms of adding online play for 2P modes, adding leaderboards for every level (points, time, and combination of points and time), achievements, etc.

Well, I guess Achievements where in Sonic the Hedgehog XBLA...but you get my point.

What I'd really, really like though, are HD visuals.

Its called Sonic's ultimate genesis collection though.

Then again Sonic Gems museum has Vectorman.

I doubt it's a Sonic-only compilation, hence the title. The Sonic name is probably used to present the new Genesis collection. I can't see any real reason why Sega would release a disc with only 6 or 7 Genesis titles (in which Sonic takes part in), when they have released other compilations with other Sonic-games (SAT, MS, ARCADE), before.

"Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection" is a disk-release...

I might pick this up, sounds like it might be fun. I am tired of waiting for Lode Runner. Seems it will never come out.

I hope you're joking, or at the very least not seen scanners.

http://xboxlive.ign.com/

Right, along with the system wide re-launch of IGN.com it seems they have a couple of potential dates for two XBLA Games.

Under the coming Soon calender they have Meteos Wars coming out October 8 and Are You Smarter Then a Fifth Grader? Make The Grade coming on October 22. Not sure where they got those release date, but those are both Wednesdays and both titles were confirmed for October.

Portal XBLA achievements offer more original content than actual game

Posted Sep 19th 2008 11:00AM by Xav de Matos
Filed under: Fan stuff, Xbox Live Arcade

When it was announced at E3 2008 the potential of Portal: Still Alive for the Xbox Live Arcade excited fans of the popular holiday '07 first-person-puzzler. While the title is still anticipated for its bonus content, which is available for free now at BigDownload, many were disappointed that the title simply offers the same experience in downloadable form. As a testament to the popularity of the game and not the shortcomings of the Arcade release, players simply wanted more. Luckily original ideas have found a way into the XBLA release of Portal. Unfortunately they come in the form of new achievements for the game.

Of the twelve achievements uncovered by MyGamerCard nine are original challenges for console gamers to play with when the game hits the service later this year. Well, at least we get something new! Hey, we don't mean to be hard on the game but its like when our parents scold us. They aren't mad, they're just disappointed. Yet, we still can't wait for the game ... sort that one out!

[Thanks, Morgon]

Hey, is that dominos game any good? I may get it so my stepdad can come over and play it. I don't know much about dominos though, so I won't know if it fails or passes.

I bought Prince of Persia about a week or so ago, and I really wish I hadn't. It's shit. No, actually, it's utter shit.

The combat is absolutely atrocious, and ruins the game.

Oh wow I thought this was just going to be a re-packaging of all of Namco's XBLA titles. An additional 20+ games seals the deal. Totally sold.

And if Sonic Ultimate Collection is a disc release...well hell I'd buy that.

LTTP: N+

Just played the trial version only, but I'm so buying this once I get the transfer kit from MS and some more points. If I had known it was this fun, I would have bought it earlier.

You are going to regret this post if you keep playing and get into the combat and gameplay in general. It's awesome.

I did the same whining at first. Then I got into it and now I love it, even loved getting the Survivor achievement.
