Ahoy thar, matey!
Secure your eye-patch and twist on those scurvy hooks, Capcom is ready to set sail to swashbuckle on the seven seas with Age of Booty on Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network this Oct. 15 th and Oct. 16 th.
In Age of Booty, players team up with other online players or AI-controlled pirate ships to raid, pillage, sink, and destroy their way to dominance on the high seas. Manning the helm of their own pirate ship, apprentice pirates must raid villages, sink merchants, seize towns, and steal gold to stockpile their pirate factions with spoils of war and booty all at the same time.
Age of Booty introduces swashbuckling action for the RTS (Real Time Strategy) newbie, ridding gamers of all the complicated, time consuming aspects of the RTS genre and retaining only the fun. Would-be pirate plunderers in Age of Booty won't have to worry about resource gathering, base building or giving multiple orders to unit groups, unlike a typical RTS game. Age of Booty is built for the casual videogame player with actionpacked gameplay, simple controls, and robust multiplayer capabilities.
Age of Booty is rated E for Everyone and raids Xbox LIVE Arcade on Oct. 15 th. The game also sets sail on the PlayStation Network on Oct. 16 th.

Yeah, it sort of looks and plays like a re-skinned version of UT2k4. Which is not bad when the closest thing to UT2k4 on the XBox 360 is a $60 retail title.Poimandres said:Needs. More. Hype.
I have this game on my PC and it's pretty rad. Twitchy mech shooter with nice UE graphics. This is a genre tragically under-represented on the 360.
Don't pass this one up!

The price, for one. Browsing the forums, I see mention of improved graphics, particle effects, menus, and it might have a few new modes. I don't track the PC version that closely. I must say, the game looks sexay.Poimandres said:Except that the $60 Xbox version isn't as good as UT2004... zing!
Do we know if there have been any improvements for War World over the PC version?
I thought people would be keen for this, but no one seems to care...

Very nice graphics and cool mechs with the gameplay of UT2004.
What more do you need from a Live Arcade title?

Marble Blast Ultra Updated to 250; DLC Coming Soon?
The achievement list for Marble Blast Ultra (one of the very first games released for the arcade, way back in January 2006) has recently updated with three new achievements totalling the max 50 point increase alloted to arcade games. The achievements highlight a new multiplayer mode (Marble It Up!) and name two separate DLC packs (Marble Fu and Agoraphobia) though I could find no mention of new content for this game anywhere.
Looks like the achievements have broken DLC news yet again and remember... you heard it here first!

MBU is an amazing game, glad to see it getting an update.Exarchos said:
MBU is probably my most-played XBLA game to-date. The multi-player is just so quick and addictive. That was before I got to the last level in single player (Schadenfreude), though, and swore the game off forever. I don't think I've ever seen difficulty ramp up like that in a game. Fuck that shit.Exarchos said:
On my original live account that level was the only achievement I was missing, to beat it under 8 minutes, it was nuts.vatstep said:MBU is probably my most-played XBLA game to-date. ToWScreen1 My super secret spy network has discovered that Load Inc's Things On Wheels is entering what should be final certification in about a week. No way to know exactly how long it will take or precisely when the game will be released, but it's on its way and getting close.

Back in November Pat Wilson, developer at Garage Games, announced that their team had just finished making a FREE downloadable update (that featured bug fixes, 11 new multiplayer maps, and new gametypes) and that it was in Microsofts hands for certification. Weeks later in his blog, Pat explained to fans why the free content will NEVER be made available. (The site he blogged at, angrydev.com, is no more, but you can still find the info he posted on numerous sites) On the record, Garage Games says "...we are unable to come to an agreement with our publisher for the Marble Blast Ultra update." Seeing as Garage Games is both the publisher AND developer of Marble Blast Ultra, you need to read between the lines. The gist of Pats blog says Microsoft wont allow them to release free content for their game, but he doesnt go into what their motivation might be, but allow me to.
3-GarageGames is fixing some bugs in Marble Blast Ultra. Which ones are being addressed?
Pat Wilson-I want to preface this by saying these are changes we want to make, but they are not for sure the changes that will be in the update. The two most high profile fixes are:
* Friends Leaderboard bug: This was reported very early on and will be fixed.
* Crash exploit: There is a way to crash a server on several maps. This will be fixed.
The other fixes on the table:
* Removing the advantage of dropping during a multiplayer game to protect your rating. This is very destructive behavior for the game because it breaks up servers. It also allows the host to unfairly effect the game for all other people in the server should they decide to kick the server back to the lobby to prevent a stat hit. We brainstormed many solutions to this and discussed it quite a bit, because we dont want to provide a bad play experience for people who want to leave a server for other reasons. The implementation we chose, I feel, strikes a good balance, and I think it will have a positive effect on the game.
* When you re-spawn in a multiplayer game, you should be facing the gems.
* The HUD should inform everyone of voice activity so that abusive players can be identified by the host and kicked from the game.
* Shadowing on the text for the scoreboard on the HUD to make it more readable on all levels.
4-Tell us about the new Multiplayer Maps
Pat Wilson- There are eleven new maps. [Level Designer] Alex [Swanson] really outdid himself on this batch. I wont list them all, but we got to really play with the gameplay even though we kept the game-type the same. Playing Spires is very, very different than all other multiplayer levels. All the gems are at the top of high-friction covered spires and platforms, and all the powerups are on the ground. The strategy is totally different, and it requires players to improve their flying, falling, and marble control skills. Alex also crafted a multiplayer level, Bowl, that mimics the skiing movement that makes single player levels like Black Diamond so much fun. Blast Club is another level in the style of King of the Marble but with a larger, more varying playing surface, and a different central conflict point.

Getting more points tomorrow! Going to get MM9 and some more Battlestar in HD! I can't believe I've used up almost 30 gigs for it already...
permutated said:So guys, are we going to see Megaman 9 online in 3 hours (or so) or is it an undetermined time?
gg Nintendo, thanks a fucking bunch. Seriously, why secure exclusivity in Japan only? It was the same with SF2 tooDeveloped and published by Capcom Co, Ltd. Mega Man 9 will be available for 800 Microsoft Points worldwide excluding Japan.
Poker Smash really deserved to do better. I think a Poker-like multiplayer mode might have helped (like maybe draw cards and then try to get the highest score). I dunno. I wish them the best on their new title though (you there dcard?).dcard said:Here's a link to the development blog for our next game (currently called project2).

We're still in the really early stages of development, but we do have a few in-game screens posted. We'll continue to post screens and movies as things progress. We love to hear feedback, so let us know what your thinking.
