I'll probably get Pinball FX at some point though, so I appreciate the recommendations. :p

I will never again buy skins for anything unless they offer significant gameplay improvements.

Did they ever release any new weapons or maps?
No, and they never will. We may get a sequel though. Personally, I'd rather get a port of Gunbound or Cortex Command but that's a topic for a whole different thread.

I might just wait for something better.

No rush.

Go try Weapon of Choice - it's a community game made by an ex-Insomniac guy. The best description I've heard so far is Contra on acid...with awesome weapons and stuff.

What the....

My copy of Sonic the Hedgehog XBLA has turned into a trial version despite me being listed on the leaderboards, having 7/12 achievements for it, etc (so obviously I've purchased it). I have even deleted the game and redownloaded it and it's STILL appearing as a trial. And yes I'm logged into Xbox Live.

Any ideas?

Mine did that once I moved to a new console. I just deleted and downloaded again. The game has a bug on the gamertag detection, I guess.

Seems that it does not help you, have you tried to use the License Transfer Tool from MS?

Is there any way to redownload some of the timed Lumines stuff?
I moved consoles and can't access anymore, but when I go to my download history, it's not even listed :(

Did you try the marketplace website? It may be accessible from there (I haven't tried it recently though). There was a thread on it but I don't have the link handy.

Lumines Live! - Heavenly Star Skin - http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/offers/0cc00005-0000-4000-8000-0000584107f8

Lumines Live! - Breeze Skin - http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/offers/0ccf0004-0000-4000-8000-0000584107f8

I believe Heavenly Star Skin is the second edition of it (I think the first one was the best), but anyway...

I have a question about DRM. I have an Xbox 360 but no internet. I want to take my harddrive to my friend's house, connect to the internet (with my HD and his xbox) and download some game updates, demos, videos, etc. When I go back to the Xbox at my place, it won't be connected to the internet. So, will I be able to use the stuff I downloaded on my own Xbox or is it DRMed to the Xbox you download it on (which would be his in this case)? Or is the whole thing moot because you need to be connected to some kind of internet to play/use all the stuff you downloaded?

Game updates do not use DRM, same for demos e game videos. Other stuff, like extra content (even if it is free), arcade games, videos, use DRM and are tied to the console you made the purchase (when offline) and to the gamertag that made the purchase (online). So those you will not be able to use.

That would be very cool if they had that feature.

Ah well, always an idea for a future update.

So can someone make a list of upcoming XBLA games? Or point me in the direction of one. I recently topped up my account, and can't think what to buy.

Wait, what? The XNA games are US only? What the fucking fuck is that.

What do you guys think of Kingdom of Keflings? It's gotten decent reviews, but the demo didn't seem to involve any thinking at all.
It doesn't really. Just basic city planning like don't put the lumbermill 50 miles from the forest. Still relaxing and fun though. It does the same thing NB always does -- takes a strategy genre and over-simplifies it into something akin to chewing gum. Damn tasty chewing gum.

I think the big problem, rather, is that the giant is way too fucking slow. I like messing around just building some stuff, but I'm starting to get sick of it since everything takes forever. I mean, it's possible to pick apart a structure and move it piece by piece to save resources if you find that you placed your stone cutter's poorly or whatever...but that takes so fucking long, I'd rather just build a new one. And the speed updates are too little, too late...

Other than that, I'm digging it a lot. I'm loving the fact that you can step in and take over the job if you think the Keflings suck at it. It's something I've always wanted to do in a strategy game. :D

That's a glitch in all the Sega games. I had it for Golden Axe myself. (And Double Dragon, but that's not Sega.)

I don't remember the solution, but I know it's in the DD forum on Xbox.com as that's where I found it. Hopefully that'll point you in the right direction at least.

The ones I am excited for:

R-Type Dimensions

R-Type is going to be seven shades of awesome. I hope there's going to be an achievement for finishing the first one on one credit. I've never done it on the arcade, had to use a second credit. But I'm really keen to finally do it. It will be one of the harder achievements to get on XBLA if it exists.

Personally, I'm most looking forward to Void Star's "Ares Fall," an upcoming lootwhore Action/RPG, which XBLA desperately needs (especially after the disappointing Arkadian Warriors).

Void Star has a development blog up that they're continually updating with brief code segments, screenshot updates, and the occasional vid... Still seems rather early, so I'm not sure when it's going to be out, but it's worth keeping an eye on.

Black Friday Price Drops For 7 XBLA Games - US Only

With the PlayStation Network bringing some games down to a lower price point for over the Thanksgiving weekend. Now new Xbox Live Arcade is joining in as well, with 7 classic titles now going up for cheap - this weekend only.

Oddly 3 of the 7 games were originally published by Sierra, which is now owned by Activision Blizzard. This is the first time we've seen them acknowledge anything Sierra has ever done, so tops to them. Should have added Switchball in there for good measure - more people need to play it.

From the list, I highly suggest giving Rez HD and Golf: Tee It Up a go.

Rez HD was 800 Points now 500 Points
Arkadian Warriors was 800 Points now 500 Points
Assault Heroes was 400 Points now 250 Points
Catan was 800 Points now 500 Points
Brain Challenge was 800 now 500 Points
Boogie Bunnies was 800 Points now 500 Points
Golf: Tee It Up! was 800 Points now 500 Points

Pretty bullshit that the price drop is US only. I mean, I realise it's an American holiday but us Euros pay more than you as it already stands. How about a little break?

They did Poker Smash, right? That was one of my favorite XBLA games. I believe one of devs posts here under the tag 'dcard'.

i'm not sure what i did to fix this glitch but i think i unlocked it via the game menu.

Re: Sega game trial / full glitch:

Start the game, select "Unlock full game" and then you'll be presented with the menu where you can buy the full game. Of course, since you HAVE bought the full game, the full game option will have a tick next to it. Select it anyway (you won't be charged again for it) and start the download. Now, when the download finishes, DO NOT select "Play Now". Select Cancel instead. You'll be returned to the main menu which then magically now lets you play the full game.

You have to do this every time you want to play it.

MICROSOFT FIX THIS SHIT ALREADY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

Sorry, chief, but there's no way that a company with $60B in yearly revenues can do any better than that. You plebes have to pull your weight, too, you know?

With the current strong dollar, we here in Norway actually pay less than them. I found this out the hard way when I recently purchased some US MS Points (for buying Community Games).

Ok, somebody seriously fucked up when they approved garbage like Coffeetime Crosswords for XBLA, but Weapon of Choice is stuck hidden in the XNA section. That's some bullshit! This game is retardedly awesome.

I'm griping mostly because I can't buy it! No XNA section for euros. Fuck you, MS! I want to rock out all night with my badass spiderpack, not play the first 5 minutes over and over again. :(

people from U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Denmark, Ireland and Spain can submit games for sale, and people from U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Spain can purchase games.

Oh wow. Blow is so beautifully serene that it kinda makes me want to cry. :lol

If you really want to buy it, there is a way (as explained by Rlan here):

At least that's how I got it.
Thanks, but that's the trick for buying Tetris Splash and Spongebob and any other XBLA game that never hit Europe too and that means once your Xbox crashes you can never play it on your main account again. Waste of money considering the fact that my 360 will RRoD sooner or later. :(

Europe is quite a lot larger than 4 countries.

I could understand that line of thought if it had achievements and/or online multiplayer, but why do you have to play this game on your main account?

You actually can play them on any 360 and with your main account - you just need 2 pads. Log into xbox live with pad 2 and choose the account you bought the game with (your fake acc.). After that, login with pad 1 as usual (with your main acc.). The game will show up as full version, even if the 360 is not the one you originally bought the game on.

im wordering if this game is worth it, can you play local multi? is it 4 player and if it is can you use the same controller. I have 650 points to spend so i was wondering.

You're completely correct, but I don't like paying for something that I know I'll lose eventually...

Most awesome tip even if I'm not going to use! Very appreciated and saved in my memory bank of tricks. ;)

It's worth it if people are still playing online (something I can't answer). Excellent game.

No local multi as you would see the other players' cards. Seeing their cards is actually not a big deal at all, but I assume that was their reasoning for omitting local multi. That, and...well, "local multi" is kinda what the physical version is for. Probably way more fun than taking turns with a controller too.

Catan is totally worth it.

I dunno about the local same controller though, you would be able to see each others cards which would be a little pointless.
