Rare's website states that Perfect Dark is still on track for a winter release, regardless of media silence. Though of course, that could mean early next year.

Yeah, winter usually means January-March (since the season starts only around a week before year-end). The sooner the better, though.

Really enjoyed the demo of Call of Duty Classic. I have never played it before. Looks a lot better than what I was thinking going in. Great music also. Watched the credits also and damn that was cool.
BUT I CAN'T BUY IT. It's just too damn dark on my TV. I can't find a brightness option in the game so I put my brightness up all the way on my TV but it didn't help much at all.
=(

Hmmm, it was dark but not that dark. At least I had no problem playing it (have done the US missions), and I didn't even tune my TV (as I don't want to fuck with the settings since I've calibrated it). And most missions are during the day anyway.

If most are during the day maybe I'll pick it up. It could be that my front projector has nearly 3,000 hours on it but it seemed much darker than other games. I mean I could be 3 feet from a nazi some times but I wouldn't realize it until I was shot.

Looks no better or worse than another game that was released on XBLA called 'Gel' or something. That one was completely ignored so I'd expect much the same fate here.

TEAM17 is delighted and very proud to announce the arrival of ALIEN BREED EVOLUTION (Episode 1) on Wednesday, December 16th on Microsoft Xbox Live Arcade, priced at just 800 Microsoft Points ($10/£6 approx).

The game features incredible fidelity and attention to detail throughout, awesome audio effects and an engaging single player narrative. The pulsating story takes the game's hero through an intense ride through a stricken craft, onto a mysterious, ageing hulk ship and beyond.

In addition to the explosive single player story, the game also offers a relentless, action packed, two-player co-operative battle mode for online and offline local action with a number of difficulty modes to challenge all skills.

The game features hours of dramatic single and multiplayer action, unique and exciting set pieces, thrilling bosses to fight and incidental surprises throughout.

* The story is conveyed by fantastic comic-book art and quality voice acting, the narrative unfolds and twists with dramatic climaxes and truly epic battles.[/*]
* Developed using Epic Software's Unreal [span style="font-size:7pt"]®[/span] technology, the title boasts stunning, state of the art visual effects.[/*]
* Fine audio finesse, including a fully re-mastered edition of Allister Brimble's cult original game title track, you have a title that's high on quality, nostalgia and meticulous attention to detail.[/*]

Alien Breed Evolution raises the quality and production bar for original digital download titles and especially so at the attractive price-point. It all adds up to make one of the slickest, directly entertaining titles in Team17's history and a worthy modern remake of one of its earliest and most admired pick up and play titles.

Alien Breed Evolution also continues Team17s recent rebirth as an independent digital publisher, with all it's previous Worms titles hitting top spot in terms of digital sales charts on XBLA, PSN and AppStore.

Initially exclusive to Xbox 360, the trilogy will also be available for PC and PlayStation3 in 2010.

Alien Breed History:

Alien Breed is recognised as one of the foremost fondly remembered Amiga games ever released. The original Alien Breed game was launched on Amiga in 1991, developed and published by Team17 Software Ltd. A title that announced Team17's arrival as a quality indie developer-publisher... quite some years before they had a hit with those little pink blighters, Worms [span style="font-size:6pt"]TM[/span] .

The game was an instant success and a sequel of sorts, Alien Breed Directors Cut, released in 1992 spending an incredible 33 unbroken weeks at the top of the UK Gallup Budget Charts. A full sequel was released in 1993 (Alien Breed 2) and a 3D edition, which won a number of technical achievement awards in 1994. The well-loved series has lain dormant for 14 years, until now, arriving in stunning fashion with the production-heavy 'Alien Breed Evolution'.

About Team17:

Team17 is a veteran UK independent developer and digital publisher based in Yorkshire, England. Now entering its 20th year in business and has developed many hit titles although perhaps best known for the incredibly successful Worms [span style="font-size:6pt"]TM[/span] series.

Team17 are now developing a number of exciting new intellectual properties alongside Worms and Alien Breed, given free reign in the digital distribution age. Team17 develop&publish for all major console, PC and handheld platforms.

For those who tweet...

"Team17 release retro-modern remake, Alien Breed Evolution. Action-packed sci-fi saga for 1 or 2 players co-op. Out Dec 16th on XBLA, 800pts!"

anyone still play worms 2?

its 50% off on amazon right now
Yup, it still has an active playerbase. It's not hard to jump into a ranked game. It also got a patch 1-2 weeks ago, and some really major bugs were finally fixed.

Thanks but nah, I'm only interested in Sonic. I only ever played the series (on Genesis) at a friend's house and even then, just briefly. So, is the game worth 240pts or no?

EDIT: And how long is the game?
You should buy a Sonic Collection for PS2, GC or Xbox. You can get a cheap used copy and have all important Sonic games on one disc.

Edit: The Xbox version is backwards compatible.

I think there's about 6 night missions in the game (out of 25), where one is mostly taking place in-doors while another is taking place in a POW camp that's fairly well lit. One tip if you're having problems is (when possible) to let the AI soldiers lead the way, as that makes it easier to spot Ze Germans without being shot to pieces yourself.

Which was criminal. Gel was a very unique puzzler with tons of content and great presentation.

I dunno though, this looks more like the love child of Kwirk, Kickle Cubicle, and Bomberman. Gel was more of a 'match 4' puzzler, albeit one with a very nonconventional way of doing so.

Chime Complete Track List

http://www.gamersdailynews.com/story-15059-Chime-Complete-Track-List.html

OneBigGame, a non-profit publisher of videogames, has confirmed the final music artist line-up for its recently announced puzzle music game Chime on Xbox LIVE Arcade.

Tracks from Moby, Paul Hartnoll of Orbital, Fred Deakin of Lemon Jelly, Philip Glass and Markus Schulz are confirmed for the unique block puzzle game that sees players re-construct existing songs from these famous artists by placing irregular shaped blocks on a sequencer-style playing field.

A creative twist on both music and block puzzle games, Chime tasks players with covering the playing field with irregular shapes, each connected to a sound effect from the background music track, to form rectangular blocks, called quads. Chime’s innovative game mechanics enables players to create a unique remix of each song every time they play a level as the building of larger quads unlock more elements of the underlying song. Working their way to 100 percent coverage of the grid, players will unlock the song in full.

All artists have donated their tracks pro bono to the game, which sees all net proceeds go to charity.

“We are very excited to work with such a diverse line-up of musicians and tracks and are extremely grateful to these artists for their pro bono contributions,” said Martin de Ronde, director, OneBigGame. “Having world-class acts linked to Chime raises its profile even further, and is a great example of the collaborative nature of the entire OneBigGame charity initiative.”

Contributions from the artists were also largely made possible thanks to the effort of Nimrod Productions’ music supervisor and composer Marc Canham and his associate Artie Fufkin, who reached out in their network of music labels, publishers and artists to sign up artists for the game.
OneBigGame has more than 15 games currently in development from various established developers to raise funds for its children’s charities. Zoë Mode is the first in a series of developers and designers who have been working on games for the charity publisher.

“We’re thrilled that these great artists have donated their music to Chime and shown such enthusiasm for the game and the OneBigGame project” said Ciaran Walsh, Audio Director at Zoë Mode. “We’ve worked hard to do justice to their music, turning each track into a unique level with musical depth and great gameplay.”

Chime will be available this winter on Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360.

Chime’s full artist line-up and track list:
Philip Glass - Brazil
Markus Schulz – Spilled Cranberries
Moby – Ooh Yeah
Paul Hartnoll (Orbital) – For Silence
Fred Deakin (Lemon Jelly) – Disco Ghosts

I did enjoy the trial of Gel to a point, it felt a bit too cumbersome to play though which prevented a purchase. The idea was great

It's a matter of publishers and developers not actually telling anyone that ther game is coming out, or releasing any footage / screenshots for it to get others interested.

I mean, at the time Gel came out Gastronaut was bought by PopCap, but they didn't have time to put that PopCap publishing muscle behind it at all.

More Metal Slug And King of Fighters For Xbox Live Arcade

SNK is fueling Xbox Live Arcade with actual arcade games. Next year, NeoGeo Battle Coliseum, The King of Fighters 2002: Ultimate Match, KOF Sky Stage, and Metal Slug XX will be available as downloads.

OK, Metal Slug XX isn’t an “arcade” game. It’s a port of Metal Slug 7, which hits PSPs in Japan this December and Xbox Live Arcade next spring. Online enabled versions of KOF Sky Stage and a graphically enhanced version of NeoGeo Battle Coliseum are targeted for spring 2010 as well.

After those games, SNK will finish The King of Fighters 2002: Unlimited Match for Xbox Live. The revised and rebalanced version of The King of Fighters 2002 is slated for summer 2010. While these timelines have only been announced in Japan, SNK’s XBLA games arrive in North America and Europe simultaneously even if they’re not fully translated.

Anyone who has Call Of Duty Classic on Xbox Live Arcade mind helping me a bit?

I need to get a look at the Leaderboards for the game, but have download limits in place. Can someone please tell me what the CODC Leaderboards are based on (multiplayed only? single player?) and if it shows you a "total players" somewhere in them, and what that number shows.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

It looks to be based on ranked multiplayer matches (I played a player match and didn't get on it), and it doesn't show the number of total players.

KoF Sky Stage will be retardedly awesome; can't wait for that. It would be nice if KoF2002UM had good online play as well, but the odds of that are astronomical given SNK's output so far.

I'll definitely pick up Battle Coliseum, loved that game in the arcades. It'll have shitty online but I'll be able to live with it.

would have been so HYPED for NGBC and KOF2002UM

but SNK's shitty online will make both games redundant, if SNK cared about online Garou and KOF98UM would have been my most played games at the moment.

This looks awesome. Heck of a good looking XBLA game. What is the price on this one? May have to get some points for it.
Pretty sure it is 800pts but split up into 3 episodes with the other 2 coming out later.

Noone takes longer to get games on the arcade than SNK.

Taht said, my frothing demand for Sky Stage, Metal Slug 7 increases. I'm done with the SNK fighters though until they sort out the netcode in their games. Neo Battle I will probably get though, because I never got to play it and IIRC it has some seriously awesome fan service. Seems like a good time for local play.

I might pass on KOF2002: Ultimate Match... but i always wanted to get my hands on Neo Geo Battle Coliseum... that game to me is the ultimate homage to SNK's franchise history (in fighting game form :lol )

im also looking forward to Metal Slug XX as well... i hope it has enough features to warrant a purchase... unlike Metal Slug 3

i really hope SNKP doesn't half ass their User Interface... my god their menu systems are the most ugliest things on the planet

GGPO PLEEEEEAAAASE!

Man... I REALLY liked Perfect Dark back in the day. Like... really. I'd kinda forgotten how much I dug it until the XBLA shots and info turned up.

I spent much, much more time with Perfect Dark than I did with Goldeneye, and I played a LOT of Goldeneye.

The thing that stands out to me most is that to this day, 9.5 years later, almost NO games are as full-featured in their Single Player campaigns, or their multiplayer:

Single Player:
- Carrington Institute hub zone
- Full-featured firing range mode (HOURS spent setting high scores down there)
- The three story-mode difficulties vary significantly from one another. Additional objectives, less auto-aim, less ammunition, less protective shields, etc. It isn't just enemies becoming more accurate and doing more damage.
- Bonus side-stages.
- "Perfect Dark" mode allows gamers to tweak settings like health, accuracy, etc.

Multiplayer:
...I don't have enough time atm to itemize it all. Co-op, counter-op, standard MP, and fucking multiplayer BOTS. Smart, human-like bots. Probably the best bots I've ever played against.

The bots alone gave Perfect Dark so much longevity. My friends and I would really mix it up. Us vs. tons of lowest-level fist-only bots to see who can wrack up 100 kills first (basically a shooting range). Humans on one team, Dark bots on another... it was as terrifying as L4D is today. Plus it had a challenge mode with 30 challenges, post-game medals, etc etc.

Truly, a game so ahead of it's time that besides the obvious advancements in storytelling and graphics and control, the rest of the genre is still catching up...

:D This post makes me so happy. I can't fucking wait!

I'm still gonna get 02UM, even with bad netcode, just because there's a chance the PS2 version probably won't be coming over here.

NGBC, maybe not, unless I hear good things about it.

SNK's netcode was just so bizarre though, like I had excellent matches with garou (only a handful had lag input) but 98UM... yikes.
