Rlan, Zeno Clash has 1,057.

A damn shame.

I think those leaderboards are for the extra modes though, not for the regular SP portion, which is all most people are going to play.

That said, did anyone really expect Zeno Clash to sell? It seems like a good game but it just has too many strikes against it. It's freaky looking and odd, has a 1200 MSP pricetag, and many of the hardcore gamers that might have given it a second look already bought it on Steam during one of it's $5 sales.

Well, I don't know about that. The "extra mode" is where almost all the achievements are, and on a place like Xbox Live, that's worth something. I'd be willing to gamble on that number being somewhat accurate. Plus, the extra modes are pretty cool.

Edit: also, yes, this game has some weird creatures...one of them actually terrifies me....

To be honest though, they are pretty pointless, though I wouldn't say so in those words.

are you saying that sales charts are pointless, or are you saying that leaderboard charts are flawed enough that they're pointless as sales charts?

The latter. The amount of people playing the game is a good indicator of the kind of numbers of sales, but it's by no means exact and shouldn't really be sold as such. Castle Crashers, for example, which encourages co-op play. I imagine there's a far higher percentage of people on that leaderboard that are playing on a friends Xbox than, say, the number of people playing Darwinia+ at a friends.

I state this sort of thing quite clearly in the analysis. There are plenty of games i can't track (marvel Vs Capcom, Magic TG etc) which is why i use the Major Nelson Top 20 as well. If I can't follow the game itself, i can follow those games surrounding it.

My stuff is flawed definitely, but its more to give an overall look at how well XBLA stuff does. Some publishers and devs think XBLA is some treasure trove of money, when in fact a large proportion of games flop.

It's better than FADE at least :)

Things on Wheels press release said 800 but xbox.com is saying 1200.

http://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/t/thingsonwheelsxbla/default.htm
http://www.xbox.com/en-gb/games/t/thingsonwheelsxbla/default.htm

Do MS make mistakes much on xbox.com listings? Major Nelson has said 800 but the 1200listing is scarying me a bit and it wouldn't at all surprise me.

Microsoft makes a LOT of mistakes. 800 points games lister for $800, price corrections that stay wrong until a few hours before release, putting the wrong price on the game WHEN it hits arcade, having games that are SUPPOSE to show up at 5 am ext showing up at 12 or later due to last-min glitches... It should be very safe to say that 800ms points is the real price, and that the 1200 is just an error.

In this case, developer knows better than MS price page.

Zombie Cow Studio has announced the development of Privates
Zombie Cow Studio has announced the development of Privates, a new PC and Xbox 360 twin-stick shooter in which players lead a gang of tiny condom-hatted marines as they delve into peoples' vaginas and bottoms. Yes, this is a real game.

"Privates is a totally crazy concept. It's very exciting to finally be able to reveal what we’re up to," said Dan Marshall, founder of Zombie Cow Studios. "We're exploring some pretty unique gaming environments and themes… I can honestly say I can’t imagine you've ever played anything quite like it."

Marshall added: "Channel 4 have been awesome in giving us a load of money and then keeping pretty quiet no matter how filthy and objectionable the content became. It's gone really well."

Privates features five levels of bug-busting action across a variety of 3D locations, with a fully-voiced comedy script.

Privates will be offered as a free download from the Channel 4 and E4 websites. The Xbox 360 version will, however, probably cost "a little bit of money".

Is this a game you'd be interested in playing? Are you appalled by its existence? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Privates has to be an arcade GOTY contender, crazy idea and I fully believe Zombie Cow Studios are up for this.
Will be awesome traversing the lands of pubis with condom hatted marines destorying lice :lol

What are the top 5 must own xbla games? Didn't want to bother making a thread.
Geometry Wars 2, Pacman CE, Shadow Complex, Marble Blast Ultra, 4J's Rare ports

But everyone has a different opinion, in those kinda threads, almost half the XBLA library ends up getting mentioned. What I did was go though the entire marketplace list and download demos for ones I had any interest for.

Ummm depends what you like :p (The usual ones people say are; Shadow Complex, Geo Wars 2, Yaris, Castle Crashers and Trials HD). but LOADS more amazing stuff.

Basically this. But I say try out EVERY game, lots of games you wouldn't really know you like (Switchball, Gin Rummy, Southpark, list goes on and on)... Didn't we have the same discussion just last week :lol

Yeah true. But some games are repeatedly mentioned. I was actually on the fence for Pacman CE, I think I will spend some spackbucks on it.

I have 50+ Arcade games (had to upgrade HDD :D ), and about 30 PSN. Digital downloads have hurt my wallet over the past 5 years. My 1st one was Outpost Kaloki... then the addiction started.

Still though, unless your paying for the info, Rlan's leaderboard charts are the best your going to get in XBLA Sales-Age.

And yes, there is a sales difference between, say, Castle Crashers, Magic: The Gathering and Toy Soldiers, with CC being too high of a barometer, Magic being too low, and Toy Soldiers being just right. But after time, you can look at these games, and how their leaderboards are aggregated to get a good idea on maybe 50-60% of the titles on XBLA.

Lol, I hear you. I remember that the beginning, I used to buy a bunch of xbla games. I had to stop myself lol. Since Reach is going to be ending soon, I'm going to need a game to keep me busy. A xbla game will do, since Netflix(<3) takes up most of my time.

Ancients of Ooga Hands-on

http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/108/1088882p1.html

We got our first look at Ancients of Ooga back at this year's Game Developer's Conference, but now we've got an early version here in the IGN office to spend some quality time with. This is the next game from NinjaBee, developer of Cloning Clyde and Band of Bugs. It stars a merry band of cavemen -- the Ooganis -- that have been tricked into slavery by evil creatures called the Boolis. Recognizing the error of their ways, the Ooganis must set things right with your help using a slew of special powers. Players actually control a spirit body that can leap from caveman to caveman, controlling their actions. From what we've played so far, Ancients of Ooga is looking like a fun puzzle platformer.

You'll be making your way to each Oogani village, possessing the cavemen in order to complete the objectives in each stage. Some of the Oogani aren't quite convinced you're the real deal, yet, and will need to be convinced before they'll allow you to possess them. At any time you can hold the left trigger to call up a map of the area and see where you need to head -- a welcome feature. You can also exit your current host body and float around the level, getting the lay of the land.

Click here to see Ancients of Ooga in action.
The Oogani can pick up all matter of item they find lying around. Rocks, torches, food, other Oogani… Not only can they carry them around, they can stick them in their mouths. You can stuff more than one object in your mouth, and indeed it proves to be a useful way of carrying things (or Oogani) around.

You can move your character back and forth from background to foreground, a feature we're not sure is necessary. It can make hitting a switch difficult at times and so far we haven't encountered any instances where this depth of field added to the game. Seems like it might have been a better choice to lock us to a 2D plane, but we'll have to see if our opinions change after we make our way deeper into the game.

The Oogas voices are represented by snorts, burps, and grunts, reminding us of Banjo Kazooie. The exaggerated, cartoon caricatures might also have something to do with it. They certainly have a lot of personality. In between levels an Oogani dances around a fire, telling the story of his people.

Ancients of Ooga will include online leaderboards for players to compare scores. You earn points for completing levels, dying as few times as possible, and collecting items.

Things on Wheels framerate is shameful (at least for the 15 seconds I was able to stand the demo :D).
On the other hand Rocket Knight seems a very enjoyable nice game.

Really?

I didn't notice.

And love the game, awesome tracks and nice flow to the races.

LOVED rocket knight. Instabuy. Haven't tried ToW yet...
I can't play the RK trial until later as my 360 is setup for my little bro right now, I hope it has some catchy classic tunes and good gameplay...

Rocket Knight is awesome -

SO far I like the game on hard much better - Normal seems a little barren to me.

But the first boss is kicking my ass! :D

Rocket Knight is great, I instabought after the trial, no issues w/ spending $15 on that. Seems like a real quality title so ar

Promptly deleted the Things on Wheels demo, long load times and a sketchy frame rate turned me off.

:( it's a real shame about ToW, I remember looking forward to it. Something is "off" with it, really jerky. Deleted the demo after few minutes...

I just got 4000 points and bought Shadow Complex & Pacman CE, what other games are recommended for spending the remaining 2000 points?

Check out Rez HD, Trials HD, 1942 Joint Strike, and 'Splosion Man. BF 1943 if you like shooters/play online.

I didn't think ToW was nearly as bad as many here make it sound. Framerate might be a bit weird, but you get over it in moments.

Once getting to the gameplay... I rather like it. Turning feels like I WANT an it to in a game like this, it's arcadey, turns are easy, "powersliding" isn't much needed, but can kinda be done, stages are cool and well made overall, too. I DID have one prob with stage design, though, and that's a point where using turno over-shot me to the wrong side of the course in what I think was the Grand ToWisumo. Game told me "Wrong Checkpoint!? and as I kept trying to find my way back, "Lost?" appeared on screen... pressed "Y", got back on course, and everything was fine.

The biggest problem for me, is I really don't play games like this online, and my local buds wouldn't really care much about it... otherwise, I'd probably really enjoy it for 800 pts. But there's much more I'd rather buy ATM.

Rocket Knight was a blast, though. Really, controls felt great, stage design looks like a good version of what I expect out of the "HD" age of sidescrollers. (Thick with "Detail for the sake of detail"), but I rather like the colors. Enemies have nice moments of personality too, and not just cheap "blink out" deaths. It really feels like the game captures the soul of older 16 bit games rather well.

Like the fact Gold Sparkster and Axel Gear are unlockable player skins, as well. Hope Axel uses his own effects when you get to play him!

Having just got LP2, I don't think I NEED RK immediately... but I do want it! Might buy later today.

Posting my feelings for Rocket Knight xbla here as the steam version thread will probably be overlooked by a lot of 360 owners.

Just played the rather lenghy demo on my 360.

I agree with the feeling of some game spinoff of a 7:30am kids anime cartoon that airs before school, aka pokemon.

There is no soul to this game just like what we seen with sonic 4, I do give props that they went with his original design of brown hair but the game just looks cheap and uninspired, also what's the deal with his flying speed? in rocket knight adventures the flying segments felt FAST because he has a double engine'd rocket pack on, here he is flying past trees at a few miles per hour, and the background even stops scrolling when fighting axel in the air, wtf!

Dev's obviously didn't play enough rocket knight adventures or even sparkster before making this game, not going to buy it now.

The two single best parts about the demo have to be the classic ding sound when you press start for the first time, and sparkster's drawing before each stage (actually looks good) and makes me wish they drew all the frames for sparkster like that.

*edit* oh and what's up with axel sounding like a team rocket villan who is 12 years old? why can't we hear the classic mouse squeaks from the original games? sometimes "improving" things makes it worse, we don't need human voices and laughs.

Non-charge jetpack is fail too, way too easy to dash around everywhere it's not fun anymore.

RobbieNick said:
Played the demo. Had an absolute blast!! Very fun. Between Rocket Knight and Sonic 4 threads, I'm starting think to many people on GAF are too jaded to play classic remakes unless they're perfect representations of their originals down to 16-bit graphics. This game is fun!! Sonic 4, with the exception of some flaws, (mainly mine cart and homing attack) looks fun. I wish more people would just relax and have fun with a game instead of examining and nitpicking everything to death.

I agree that normal mode is for babies. Hard mode is perfect. Two long levels makes a good size demo. Will buy this when I get paid tomorrow. Can't wait for Snoopy Flying Ace.
I won't be happy until dev's who remake their older games understand what made their old titles so unique and great, and why the fans still love them, rocket knight xbla is throw away compared to the original.
