So i was just thinking, why is there no pre-order option yet? I would love to pre-order a game and when its released just turn on the 360 and it downloads automatically. They did this with Sam and Max PSN, so why isnt it a full time option? I would love to order Deathspank, Limbo and Hydro Thunder. That way i do not spend my points on other things.
I was thinking about that the other day. Let us pre-order the game and give us a discount, because you got our money early. Okay... I have to stop dreaming. :/

A discount seems too good, have an avatar teeshirt instead which is LE to pre-order users only.

I really cant tell if your being sarcastic or not. I will just assume you are not and say thank you :D

Nope, serious. Haven't really thought about the option myself until you just brought it up.

Cool. Just a bit hard to tell sometimes with gaf :lol

And yeah, depending on the game i guess and what the developer wanted to have as a bonus. Exclusive Avatar items, or exclusive premium theme or gamer pictures. Just as incentive. Really i cannot believe it has yet to be done, but man i would love it. Even the odd expensive game could have a small discount if thats what the devs wanted, just like Sam And Max did. I am sure it could help raise sales a little bit.

Need more RPG's for the arcade. We have enough FPS's for retail releases as it is already.

Would be down for some more RPGs. Anyhow a bit OT here, but for those that care the Guild Season 4 has started with the first episode on the MP now.

I dont even have a clue what this game is about. I guess I'll have to google it.

I have been looking for one myself! The game is damn good fun, though some it does have some really bad frame rates at times :x

Nobody thought to make one, I believe the assumption was it was going to suck.

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/14/blacklight-tango-down-2-in-development-zombie-studios-confirms/

Zombie Studios' Blacklight: Tango Down has been released for PC today (via Games For Windows - Live currently and soon to be on Steam and Impulse). It debuted on Xbox Live Arcade just last week and has yet to reach PSN -- though it's expected "in the coming weeks." Zombie is already working on the sequel, though.

Confirmed by our sister site Big Download, Zombie CEO Mark Long said his studio is aiming for a summer 2011 release for Blacklight: Tango Down 2 (working title). The sequel will feature larger maps than those included in the first game and implement mech-like vehicles into the gameplay.

Long also confirmed that there are currently no plans to offer DLC for the first Blacklight: Tango Down beyond patches to fix any persistent bugs.

... another FPS for XBLA? Doh! O well, at least it'll look kinda pretty? I still prefer when companies use the DL space for genres that aren't already oversaturated on retail shelves as well...
According to the crazy number of reviews this download has received, I don't think this trend is going to change. It's a shame, because I love the DL services for games I can't buy in the store. And it sounds like this is going to be annualized somehow (like every other FPS). I'm not thrilled about this.

Is Quake Arena ever coming out?

That's probably about the only FPS I could care about on XBLA these days.
I played it at PAX last September and it looked complete so I don't know what the deal is. Maybe they're going to launch it alongside Quake Live.

Atari's Haunted House returns to scare PC, Xbox 360 and Wii
http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/14/ataris-haunted-house-returns-to-haunt-pc-xbox-360-and-wii/

Atari is finally bringing back its classic Haunted House franchise for a new XBLA, downloadable PC, and Wii (presumably WiiWare) game. For those of you who aren't ancient, Haunted House is a maze game about a kid exploring a mysterious mansion in order to put an urn back together, hindered both by aggressive ghosts and total inability to see items or exits without lighting a match.

The new version benefits from 29 years of technological advancement by, among other things, displaying the player avatar as a person instead of simply disembodied cartoon eyes. The gameplay still involves avoiding ghosts and looking for pieces of a broken urn, but now also includes puzzles, bosses, and what sounds like a much larger environment than the original house, with "towers, basements and catacombs."

The new Haunted House will be out in September, and you can see a spooky trailer after the break. Now that Atari's started remaking its old games again, what's next? Circus Atari for Kinect? It would make more sense than that other Kinect circus thing.

-nod- Exactly. I guess this is to be expected, when the DL spaces start offering bigger sizes and more obvious popularity... we're getting games but the names of big retail, and often times in the same genres.

I never would have imagined we'd get confirmation for Blacklight: Tango Down 2, before at least a spiritual successor of something like, say, Castle Crashers. Where are all my isometric RPGs, Original Guardian Heroes and Streets of Rage a-likes, and original shooters? (Ships and huge bosses type, not FPS style!)

Of course, I guess this all means Dust will be REALLY appreciated when it finally releases! :lol

Well okay, I'm gonna fix it for him: good rpgs.

Vandal Hearts was better than any other SRPG on the 360, downloadable or otherwise.

I thought it was a decent SRPG. Good S at least, good maps and battle system. Story and cutscene art were both pretty bad.

I came to mention the same kind of thing. Well more that it has higher ratings on xblm than Deathspank, which seems crazy, but I haven't played either yet. Was just coming to see how others felt.

It was in the top 20 rated weeks before it came out. Guess the show has a rabid fanbase.

Monday Night Combat: Pre-season Wrap-up
http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/110/1106198p1.html

Online multiplayer shooters aren't a novelty on Xbox Live Arcade anymore, but there is one just around the corner called Monday Night Combat you should keep an eye out for. This lighthearted class-based shooter doesn't take itself too seriously and might provide your fix for both adversarial and co-op gameplay. Players battle bots and other athletes in a brutal, futuristic gameshow for cash money. Think Scharzenegger's Running Man mixed with Smash TV and add a dash of Team Fortress and you'll have some idea of what Monday Night Combat is all about. Whether you're playing the cooperative Blitz mode or killing your friends in Crossfire, the goal is always to protect your team's Moneyball. That's just what it sounds like: a giant ball made of money.

We've got the review build here in the office and your friendly neighborhood IGN Editors have been hard at work building turrets, making the monies, and protecting their 'balls. Here's what we have to say about Monday Night Combat so far:

Daemon Hatfield, Editor: I'm having a lot of fun with Monday Night Combat, even though I'm not a huge fan of multiplayer shooters. I don't play Halo or Gears of War online, but this game is very different from those guys. It's humorous and even, as Ryan Geddes would say, silly. But I think that's a big difference between him and me and the types of games we like. He loves Halo and Gears of War, the "serious" shooters. They don't interest me, but here I am having a great time with this absurd little downloadable shooter with a flamboyant mascot that runs around egging me on to shoot him.

What specifically do I like about it? I'm a big fan of tower defense games, and Blitz, the co-op mode in Monday Night Combat, is essentially a tower defense shooter. Waves of bots enter the playing field dead set on destroying your Moneyball and you and your team mates have to dig in and defend it by blasting the bots and building defense turrets. Every bot you bag earns you cash you can spend to build defenses or upgrade your skills. Deciding how best to spend your money takes some thinking.

Check out Monday Night Combat's Blitz mode.

Crossfire, the six-on-six competitive mode, is also fun. Each team attempts to defend their Moneyball from the other side, but the trick is that you can spend cash to send waves of bots after the enemy's prize.

It's not perfect. We're encountering some lag playing online, the textures are bland, and the crowd supposedly watching your game is less impressive than the audience in Mike Tyson's Punch Out. But I think it's significant that I don't normally enjoy multiplayer shooters and yet I'm having a blast with Monday Night Combat.

Greg Miller, Executive Editor: I had passed by Monday Night Combat at a few events, but nothing about it ever really caught my eye. The visuals were very orange and a bit sterile, the name didn't really draw me in, and I just didn't see a draw. Turns out, I was being an idiot – Monday Night Combat is a lot of fun.

It's still a very orange and a bit sterile, but it works with what the game is doing. You and your buds are on a TV game show or whatever and this is the arena each team uses. Defend your moneyball, build turrets and blast the mascot. It's a simple premise with a simple, clean look, but it's something that I could see playing with my friends. Trouble is, $15 seems a bit steep for that experience. Don't get me wrong, it's fun, but I don't know how long I'd want to play it. It strikes me as the occasional diversion when I'm bored with a single-player title. Of course, I only played for 30 minutes, so maybe there's depth I don't know about; I'll divert to Daemon on that one.

Either way, Monday Night Combat is fun and I could see more than a few nights lost to its "we gotta win" gameplay.

Shoot the Monday Night Combat mascot for massive monies.
Nate Ahearn, Editor: I love fast-paced third-person action. I love tower defense. I love money. And I love laughing. Monday Night Combat brings all of these elements together in one magically harmonious package. Players pick from one of six classes and then must lay waste to opposing players as well as a massive droid army that spews forth from different points on the map. These droids slowly trudge towards your oh-so-precious Moneyball, and it's up to you to strategically place turrets around the level to defend the glowing orange orb of moolah.

Monday Night Combat is at its finest when playing with others (duh) either in the co-op Blitz Mode or in the adversarial Crossfire Mode. The strategy element is huge when trying to thwart the efforts of other human players to reach your money ball. Do I release a droid army here or do I build a turret? If I build a turret, what kind of turret is best? Or, perhaps better still, should I be selfish and upgrade my own character's abilities? All of these thoughts come into play in Monday Night Combat.

So, I've covered the action, I've covered the tower defense, and I've covered the money. But what about the laughing? Well, occasionally in Blitz Mode, a Monday Night Combat mascot starts dancing his way across the map. Other games would probably leave a trail of money behind him, but this one lets players pummel him with as many rockets, grenades, and machine gun blasts as possible in order to pry gold coins out of his body. It's hilarious, much like Monday Night Combat itself. Needless to say, pick this one up when it's available.

Ryan Geddes, Senior Editor: There's nothing really wrong with Monday Night Combat. There's actually a fair amount of depth to this XBLA game, and everything works as advertised. But there's really nothing special here either. Multiplayer experiences on Xbox Live are a dime a dozen. This game wouldn't drag me away from the online competitions of Modern Warfare 2, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Gears of War 2 or Blacklight: Tango Down. Sure, the price is low. And there's a fair amount of value there for the price. But I could buy 5 really good iPhone games for that price. In fact, I think I will.

Jack DeVries, Contributor: What I liked about Monday Night Combat was that it didn't feel like any game I had played before (obvious allusions to The Grid aside). It has all the ingredients of a third person shooter, but done in a way that gives it a fresh appeal. I'm not really digging the futuristic arena sports theme it's got. Things like Rollerball have sort of ruined that for me. In fact it seems weird that it's so crazy looking, but then isn't more over the top with the playable characters or deaths.

Monday Night Combat was fun when I was yelling at Geddes for sucking, and hearing Daemon get angry whenever I shot him in the face. It seems too basic to really be a long lasting contender for my time, but as a casual multiplayer experience when some friends are over, it could definitely be cool.

Mega Man Universe Announced

by Jim Reilly
LATEST IMAGES

Capcom has announced Mega Man Universe, a new chapter in the classic franchise. Long-time series creator Kenji Inafune is heading development of the title, which promises to be a "revolutionary" take on the classic series.

"We are thrilled to finally be able to announce Mega Man Universe," said Inafune. "This game will break the mold and challenge the conventional wisdom of what a Mega Man game can be. When fans finally get to see it, I believe they'll envision their most far-out Mega Man dreams coming true."

Back in December, Inafune suggested his next Mega Man title would be "completely different" that the previous versions. In April, a trademark filing was spotted for the game.

While details on the title were slim, Capcom dropped a few hints in the announcement that seems to imply this won't be another standard 8-bit title like we saw with Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10.

To describe Mega Man Universe, Capcom used phrases such as: "revolutionary take," "new chapter in classic gaming," and "imagination is the star of the game." The company ended its announcement by saying: "Its official: classic gaming will never be same again."

Mega Man Universe is coming to PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. No set release date or price was provided.

More details are expected to be revealed at San Diego Comic-Con next week.

Raleigh, North Carolina - Atomic Games, a developer of simulations for US military and intelligence agencies and a pioneer in military action games, announced today that it has decided to delay the release of its highly anticipated title, Breach, for the Xbox LIVE Arcade for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Breach was delayed largely due to later availability of an Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360 ship date from Microsoft than anticipated, which allowed the company to add in new features. Atomic is using the extra time to add in a new Hardcore mode as well as other new content. Breach will now be coming out simultaneously on Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360 and on Windows PC in January.

Since Atomic first showed off Breach to gamers, some organizations that use other Atomic training systems showed interest in using a modified version of Breach as a training aid for their operatives. With this delay Atomic now has the chance to add certain features from the training systems, such as the Hardcore mode, into the commercial product. The delay will also allow those waiting on Windows PC to enjoy the game on the same day as those on Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360.

"While work on Breach is actually done, we did miss our small window with Microsoft to get it up on Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360 in late June as we had planned. Luckily there were features we had been thinking of adding to the title, and now we have the opportunity to do just that. Unlike with Six Days in Fallujah, which was delayed indefinitely when Konami pulled out, we are publishing Breach ourselves, and it will be out in January," said Peter Tamte, President of Atomic Games."I've always said, we don't make simulations for the public and we don't make games for the government. However, we have come to realize there is a growing segment of the gaming population that wants to test these simulation systems out for themselves, which is why we're adding features, like a Hardcore mode, to Breach."

Breach introduces new kinds of destruction that haven't been seen in any other game, has an innovative Active Cover System which allows players to take advantage of any cover even as it is ripped apart, and adds in unique, true-to-life spy gadgets which all changes the very nature of multiplayer combat. Breach will be available for download through Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360 and for Windows PC this January.

Is it usual for SNK games to be delayed this much after a date is set or is 2k2 Unlimited Match the exception?

http://game.snkplaymore.co.jp/game/xbla/english/index.php

The wait is killing me, what is taking so long? I just hope they don't announce a release for December because its coming to PSN too or something.

Right now, part of the problem is XBLA's release schedule. Summer Of Arcade ties up alike a month and a half with promised releases.

Is it usual for SNKP games to be delayed a lot? Yes. Happened all the time with their PS2 games, for example.

It's very unlikely we'll see anything until after SOA is over, but they could announce a date over the time... who knows.. maybe they have special plans between it and KoF XIII eventual console release?

It's either delayed forever or released instantly.

I remember Garou was announced like, three weeks before it was released.

Oh yeah. I forgot about that.

Hopefully they'll do that again with, like.......Real Bout 2, Metal Slug X, and Last Blade. :D

I could be wrong but I'm sure at least one week during Summer of Arcade something that wasn't part of the promotion dropped.

Shard? Rlan?
