I love Xbox Live Arcade, keep the hits coming!

Oh and get on GarageGame's asses, Marble Blast Ultra isn't out yet. :(

yeah im not sure if i wanna check anymore...my right bumper button was making weird noises around 7000 :lol

Yeah man don't do that. Just whenever one of us buys a new game, play the game once, lose with 0 points and then see what place you're in. After that, report it and then don't worry about it.

8th in Smash TV :D I am not that competitive of a person but at the same time I feel a drive to do better and better in these games.

After getting a 360 on Friday, most of my time this weekend was spent with the Live Arcade games. Hexic, Geo Wars and Zuma've gotten most of my playing time next to PGR3. I suck at Geo Wars, though. Really, really suck. But the achievements system is gonna push me to get better.

geometry wars downloads are at 9,995 right now ($49,975).

Any way to really verify the # of sales, instead of just downloads?

If those are only downloads, then let's assume that GW has much better conversion rates than other games (8%), say 3 times as much. Which gives us about 25% conversion rate, which is absolutely very generous.

So,

25% x $50,000= $12,500

50% x $12,500 goes to developer = $6,250

This is why I'm pretty much still skeptical of the value proposition XLA brings to indie developers. It's *certainly* a money maker for old arcade games, or even some casual games already available for downloads on the PC (Bejeweled2 , Zuma), games that just needs to be retrofitted with XDK.

But to fully develop an original title for XLA, I think is a much tougher sell. If I'm an indy developer, I'd probably still stick with the PC market as the primary source of digital distribution (especially since the PC casual games industry is so hot now) and will regard XLA as a secondary or maybe even 3rd tier money maker behind mobile gaming.

Still, kudos to MS for this great initiative. I suspect that if XLA is succesful within a year, all of XLA and MSN Games (Zone) will be fully integrated together seamlessly.

well to be ranked you need to buy the game, so it is the actualy number of people who have bought the game. So the total revenue from Geometry Wars is $50,000 (so far). It'll at least double over the lifetime of the system I believe. Where do you get that developer gets 50% of the money?

Can you be ranked if you bought the game on a Silver level membership?

You can buy Marketplace content without Gold level live correct?

EDIT: 'On November 22nd, Xbox 360 users who connect their console to a broadband connection and create an Xbox Live membership, either the paid Gold membership or free Silver membership, can look forward to content such as:"

That would throw the numbers off.

But let's not forget, Geo Wars sold 10,000 (and likely one or two thousand more) in under two weeks, in extremely limited launch conditions. Also consider that there are a lot of 360's still tied up on eBay and hidden in the closet as an Xmas present, so 10K+ this quickly and under these conditions seems really good to me. Who knows, it could do 100K or more by this time next year.

I'm terrible at GeoWars Evolved.Last time I tried my score was around 125,000. How do you Geometry Gods among Men rank up the plus 1,000,000 hotness that I'm dreaming about?

I even put in Daft Punk and it didn't work!

i went through the bejeweled2 leaderboards on classic mode and there were 4,500 high scores. bejeweled is $10.

Just wanted to point out that that's not a 100% accurate way of finding out how many people have purchased the game. For example, I bought Bejewelled, but haven't been online with it to upload any scores.

Whew. I fell just short of my first million last night (923,550) due to some stupid mistakes (See: Running into shit when I saw it coming).

I realized afterward that I had not blinked almost the entire game. My eyes hurt now ;__;

Can't retrieve information from Xbox Live. Please Try again later.

Anyone getting this when trying to download any xbla game or 360 demos? I can still play online but not download... :(

Had a co-op game of Smash TV freeze up and kick both me and a friend out (said the host disconnected -- which wasn't true). We were pretty close to beating the first boss, too.

.... XBL ARCADE BUBBLE BOBBLE!

MEEBLE!

Bankshot Billiards 2 + My Music With Media Connect + Playing with Friends Over XBOX Live = Gaming Crack!!!

If you haven't tried it, give BB a try. It is 1200 points but well worth it for me. We could haved a GAF pool tournament....

Woo! Sign me up for the 1 million mark in Geo Wars. I hit it last night. The strange part is not only did I hit 500,000 for my first time, I acctually went all the way to a million. Its weird since I felt really aware so I guess trying from the start is key.
Before I used to start off lazy just slowly killing the guys around me then getting warmed up to the insane parts. DON'T DO THAT. Instead, get into the game from the moment you start, act like they're coming from every corner. Once you do that, you feel the rest come in like a breeze and before you know it, you'll have 9 lives. I still haven't been able to get 9 bombs or x10 multiplier.

My next goal, beat Coldblooded and LakeEarths high score. :)

Just a strange heads up, apparently the Hearts demo kicks you off of Live when you start it. At least, it happened to me. And the second I quit out of it, I logged back on. Backgammon demo did not do this.

I've got to figure out how these strange-ass games work before I buy them, but I'm going to give Backgammon a shot for sure so I can go Walt all over your Locke/Hurley asses on Live.

Game was made in the 80s, blond bimbos with that kind of hair was supposed to be sexy :S

It's not that, I just graduated high school when Smash TV came out so I'm well familiar with the look. But look at those faces. Gruesome.

damn

striker (#1 on GW rank) is one of those velocitygirl people

which means someone from microsoft played to that score. Hardcore.

the hardwood card games are now up

By the way, they're all 400 points ($5) each, which is a good price for these types of games. I finally learned how to play Backgammon thanks to the tutorial. Ain't a bad game, either. I even unlocked two achievements for it already.

All of our initial games will be available in all Live countries, and I think that everything will in the future unless there are publishing rights issues. As far as localization, most launch games are 100% localized. The only ones I can think of that aren't are the Midway games - there the out of game menus are localized, but the ROMs remain untranslated.
What's the deal with this?
MS's official Japan page only lists four titles going live tomorrow, so I'm worried that I won't be able to play the games I wanted to.

it lists 6

5 on that page, look to your left and it shows bankshot billiard as well
:lol They're adding stuff now. They just added Gauntlet too. Whoever called up their web department, cheers!

Smash TV and Zuma added now.
Still no Geometry Wars... :(

edit: An hour passed and no updates. I guess GW will not be available from launch? Are they holding it back until PGR3 comes out here? That would suck big time.

Well now I finally know how to play Hearts.

And I finally know how to play Backgammon. I downloaded the trial version initially, but after I went through the "How to Play" Section and tried a game -- and saw how solid it was -- I downloaded the full version.

And backgammon is pretty damn good, isn't it? Now I'm disappointed I waited all this time to learn how to play.
