Man I just got 1,085,000 with two lives left and I f-ed up trying too top my high score >_< I'm so pissed at myself.Instead of just playing like I normally do,I started looking at my score in the top corner and kept saying" you can top it you can top it" instead of really focusing on the game,so stupid.

Amazing Hyp *is jealous*

it's on rastex! finally beat your 2.6 million with a 3.6 mil of my own. #19 baby! (probaby for an hour or two. :lol ) btw, don't ask me how i did it. it was one of those "in the zone" moments.

Suddenly the 1.2 million I raked in tonight doesn't seem so great. :lol

Oh hyp = Hypoetical!

I didn't realize you were from this forum, we played some great matches in RR6 last week, but I thought you were just some stranger. We should race again.

Also, holy shit at that score.

The Feb additions to XBLA look pretty neat, but I'm gonna try and squeeze some more play out of the ones I have so far, I reckon. Like Bebpo keeps saying, the small amounts add up quickly - he's still downloaded about 10x more Arcade content than me though :)

Nope, I am getting one just for Geometry Wars.
That's exactly what I'm leaning towards. Ironic that I'm drooling over the thought of buying a $400 system to play $5 and $10 games, but dammit they look fun.

whats your gamertag again? wait, are you "no depth"? and yea, if that was you, definitely fun playing some RR6. i'm working on trying to get all the achievements for it. it's looking more like a long term goal, but after putting 50+ hours into the game, i'm going for the whole pie.

there's some tough competition online, that's for sure.

Same here. I'm almost finished through Class 2 single races with No-collision. Very doable achievment, just time consuming. The online wins will just happen over time if I keep at it, but the 10,000 miles driven one is gonna take awhile. After all the hours I've put into this game already, I've only just hit the halfway mark.

There will be an abundance of XBLA games for the next 5 or 6 years (probably even more released than actual Xbox 360 games)...I have to wonder if they will have to put a limit on the # released every month, that is how many are rumored to be in development right now...if you don't have an ethernet cable attached to your Xbox 360 by the end of 2006 and using your Silver account to download $5 games you are basically a moron.

The whole industry is clamoring to get on the XBLA train, both from a corporate perspective (thousands of downloads without middle man = gold rush), and now frustrated games programmers can actually do something which is FUN.

The XBLA managers will give a talk at the Casual Games Conference "Casuality" and I'm sure they will be appearing at other conferences this year. They are actively supporting small devs who just want to do 2D games and indie game developers.

I'd say Minter is on board for sure, but it would be cool if some other oldschool developers like the Bitmap Brothers got involved too.

Is there an easy way to see what's coming to XBLA over the next couple months?

No, one of the big problems. I think it's time I start preproduction on that website I was thinking of doing on XBLA. I just need someone to do an interface and I can handle the rest of the coding. I might make another thread on the subject later on.

You can see three Feb releases on the website.

If you unlock an achievement offline, does it register with the central site next time you go online? I only ask because I'm moving house tomorrow but we won't get internet until Saturday :(

It does do that, just not high scores

I was just gonna say, I was all pleased with myself for getting 1.3 mil recently. Now I feel like crying.

That's the greatest news since thong bikinis. How do you know all this and what else can you say? :D

My personal XBLA requests - General Chaos Redux, Tempest 360

Great! Now my nipples yearn for more news....

LIVE ARCADE = killer app eternal

The enticing thing for developers should be the fact that people will have spare points. I know I've spent $45 on XBL so far. I'm sitting on 1600 points. I'm eagerly awaiting Marble Blast and SF, but it is hard for me to save those points. I've been on the verge of spending them several times and if I don't see any new content in the next 2 weeks, the points will be spent.

I didn't even think of this, but games like Tempest would be amazing for Live Arcade. It doesn't need multiplayer, and tbh it doesn't even need an update...just give us a perfect port of it, slap on a leaderboard and some Achievements, and it'll be one of the best games on XBL Arcade :D

I'm still waiting for more arcade fighters, especially from SNK. I mean it would be perfect for them. Their releases get hammered in the reviews for being recycled material, and for approval on PS2 they need to bundle 2 games together. I'd pay 10 bucks for a KOF instead of 40 for 2 of them.

BUT to play the game you must be logged into Live with the account that purchased the game.

Amusingly, my brother can play Geometry Wars with his Gamertag despite the fact I bought it through my Gamertag. You could do the same with the Halo 2 map packs when they were for sale online but I thought they would have stopped that with the 360.

I thought that requirement was only if you bought a new 360 console, not when simply redownloading a deleted game.

I thought so too

Any and all games that you buy is tied to your Gamertag. Meaning that if you log into someone elses system with your gamertag, you can download and play full version of games you bought.

I'm hoping MS doesn't change this for Xbox 720 (or whatever), so that you don't have re-buy games you already bought on X360.

I have two gamertags and I can play my arcade games with my new gamertag when I bought them under the old one.

I don't know how the hell you guys are getting 1 million points or more on Geometry Wars. That's insane. I can't even get over the 200,000 mark. There's so many sparks and effects going on that I'm having a hard time keeping track of my ship.

And is anyone playing Outpost Kaloki X? I'm stuck on level 8 in the Adventure Story. I just can't seem to get the outpost's rating to 4.5 so I can't build the amusement park in time. Several games I've had around 10 minutes left to boost the rating but I always come up short. Anyone have any tips?

I know the feeling :( At the beginning I was getting scores around 200,000 and now I can get around 600,000 consistantly but am finding it really hard to go above 700,000. Its even more annoying because during the time the scores were getting reset daily due to some glitch, I got a score of 780,000 and now I can't get anywhere near that. I have to be in the "zone" to do any good, so after a few tries if im doing shite I just give up and play something else.

Always set the bar to about 80% in each thing you build. That will satisfy the customers without wasting resources. I can't remember exactly which scenario you are stuck on, but the citizens really hate being attacked. So if it is the scenario I'm thinking of, build some defense before you get attacked.

I guess I'll just keep pluggin' away. Even 250,000 seems like an impossible mission for me right now. There's so much stuff going on the screen my eyes just can't keep track of what the hell is happening.

No attacks going on in level 8 but I'll try setting the appeal higher sooner - like right from the start. I've usually waited until I reached the halfway point before adjusting it because of the maintenence and power costs but then when I max out the appeal on every building I've only been getting around a 4.3 star rating in this mission.

Level 8 in Outpost Kaloki X just flat out sucks. I've done everything to make those bastards happy and I still can't get over the 4.5 mark to build that damn amusement park. I'm giving up for today. :(

I set each unit's appeal to maximum as soon as it's built. For what it's worth I've finished the game, so I guess that works. Of course, keep a close eye on the demand meter. If any of the bars are green for a few minutes, sell those items until the bar has some red again. It's better to be a little in the red than a lot in the green, from what I can tell.

I won't lie and tell you it's easy. It took me awhile to break through 250k. After awhile, you'll get better at crowd control, which is really at the heart of the game. As it ramps up, start moving in a counter-clockwise direction around the box. Clear a path in front of you at all times. Watch your ship. Use the Gravity Wells to your advantage and toss all your pursuers into one. You'll find the ensuing explosion is easier to deal with than the piles of pinkys chasing you.

Above all, use your bombs and stay alive as long as possible on your first ship. The way to high scores is through the multiplier. The faster you can get it rolling again after your first death and sustain it, the higher your scores will go.

And this is coming from a guy who only got 1.2 million. :)

For that one I set all the areas to max pleasure, I also turned down my power plants to 100% Saftey (not sure if that makes a difference). Try to satisfy all demand.

Geo Wars question. What is the best line of defense for those little triangular blue things. I can defend myself against everything else well. It's jsut those give me fits, what should a do to combat them? Thanks in advance

I don't own the game yet, but I just get all warm and fuzzy reading about games where the enemies are described as "little triangular blue things". There is much right with the world when games featuring them are still popular.

The ones that come from the corners in swarms? You cut right through them and then move onto the next batch and cut through them, all the while building up a trail of them behind you that you'll eventually either eradicate or dump into a Gravity Well. Just shoot into the swarm and dart through the hole you made.

...and always make your best WOOO! face when doing it!

Just keep going! I set my high score around 380k and couldn't increase it for ages... could barely get near it... then last night in one go I took it up to 648k. One of those weird games where I "got" everything -- I was never able to deal with the little triangular swarms either until that game, when I stumbled on the Dave Long method :-)

Now, I'm at 959k. I will break 1 million in the next few days. I have over 900k with 5 men and all I could think about was 1 million. I jinxed myself.

You cheaters watching pro videos of geo wars. Do it like a man and learn yourself! I havent watched one of those video's and i made it to 1.7 mil before i took a break

It placed in the Top 10 on IGN's latest LIVE ARCADE poll too. :D
