Really it repeats after 9? I was under the impression that there were 19 levels all with their own bosses. Bleh.
Well, once you beat 9 it brings you back to the first level.. Tundra-something. I didn't play through far enough to see if you fight the same boss, but I'm assuming it is.

The bosses are kind of lame, though, and way too easy. I didn't use a single life fighting any of them. The game's a little bit unbalanced I think; the levels are too hard and the bosses are too easy.

Fight through 19 story-based missions to upgrade six different weapon banks...

I found Heavy Weapon (demo) to be pretty cool, but way too repetitive. On the other hand, I remembered that I never got around to downloading Assault Heroes. Holy crap, what a cool old-school shmup (without being insanely frustrating). These are the kinds of XBLA games I was hoping for - bought it.

The first half of mission mode is pretty boring, but after that it's balls-out crazy hectic action. I encourage those that have picked it up to stick around for the 2nd loop. It's been much more challenging and rewarding.

Heavy Weapon multi with four players is INSANE. Welcome to a preview of Castle Crashers awesomeness to come.

I saw you online playing the same time as me... where was my invite, ya punk?!

I loooove Heavy Weapon. I bought it about 6 hours ago and probably spent 5 of those since then playing the game. I'm a total slut for arcade games, but this one is great regardless.

Yep-its the same bosses the 2nd play through. The game rocks though-i don't mind the same stuff again. The action is even more chaotic, lots of fun.

We need more games like this on Live, just bad ass.

I haven't played heavy weapons yet, but assault heroes is freakin awesome!

Oh man-4 player coop. play is the way to go. There was a point where we were all being bombarded by a huge wave of missles from above. 3 of of us would die while one guy hung in there while we were respawning. If noone is around to keep the game going then its all over. This game is genius when it comes to multi player.

We made it to 11 minutes and its just nuts, all you see is shit all over the screen. Its an awesome sight.

Okay, I entered "the zone" and plowed through a new game to level 9. I'll try to get through that tomorrow. Good, tough fun. I'll need to fill up my friends list (which now stands empty) so I can do some multi.

This and Assault Heroes are just great little shooters. Both different enough that there's room for them both without feeling like I'm getting burned out on shooters. A nice break of Worms and Castle Crashers before Mutant Storm Empire and I'm ready for another. :D

That is music to my ears. This is what a shooter should be all about. :)

I haven't tried co-op yet, but for the people who have played it, do they throw more enemies and enemy firepower at you when you play co-op?

Oh god yes. 4X the enemies and bullets when you play 4P :) It's fantastic.

Heh! You popped on when I'd already started. Next time, dude!

free one and the other two 100 points, not bad.
The prices are pretty good, especially considering it's 1200 points for the main game. I'm surprised! Maybe they heard the complaints.

Good news on the cheap lumines stuff, bad news for no worms.
You realize that if arne had given us Worms info, someone would ask for SotN? And if we got that, I'd pester him about Mutant Storm Empire?

More, more MORE! :lol

Just got a chance to try Heavy Weapon. Smart that they give you plenty of time to try the game. I thought the demo would end after the 1st or 2nd level. The later levels sold the game to me. Excellent addition to XBLA.

I only really care about worms right now, though I do want SOTN, worms will keep my occupied to the point I might not even realize when SOTN releases :lol

heavy weapon is actually good compared to some of the other crap that's been released lately. i'm considering purchasing this just for the multiplayer alone and to try to gain some rank on the leaderboards. from benjaminbirdie's impressions, seems like it would be a blast.

Yes, Heavy Weapon is actually quite fun!
A little too easy though...

Those Lumines packs are a really good deal, and heck, all three at once instead of one per week! I think we may be on the rebound here if the cards fall the way I think they will over the next month.

I subscribed to a Xbox Live gold account a few months ago but now I wish to revert the account back to Silver for the time being. How can I do this?

I think they've finally run out of old PopCap games to port...unless they dig into crap like Insanquarium and Mummy Maze

Let's see something NEW from PopCap! Where is Bejeweled 3 w/ some sort of XBLA versus mode? Come on make it happen

If anyone needs an Xbox Live Gold 48h code next week so they can download the Lumines packs let me know. I've got one from Viva Pinata I never used.

Although I thought 10 bucks for Heavy Weapon was a bit steep, I bought it anyway, and haven't regretted it. I already liked the PC version but this one is even better. 4 player co-op is crazy fun and absolutely hilarious. I was actually laughing out loud the first time from all the shit that was going on on my screen. :D

Damn that's awesome about the Lumines Live packs. Honestly I wanted that HS pack more than any of the other games people are excited about. If only they'd run a sale on the Advanced pack I'd have no problem buying it all.

So where is everyone in Heavy Weapon? Story mode I'm on level 11 now and about 9 minutes or so in survival. I'm maxing out my weapons and keeping the shields at 0 so far.

I never bothered with the defense orbs or whatever they're called. Since they don't really offer full protection, they just seemed too hit or miss to sacrifice more firepower for. I tend to max-out lightning first, then homing missiles, then either rockets or flak.

48 hour trial codes don't offer gold status. Just free online gaming.

I started over twice to find the best combination for me. I also have ignored the defensive orbs, until level 12 which I just reached. I maxed out homing missles and rockets, with lightning next. Maybe with three orbs going at once they'll offer actual protection.

Arcade file size now is 250 MB? It was about time...

Microsoft Expands XBLA File Size to 250 MB
Apparently, the Burning Crusade isn't the only expansion in town.
By Luke Smith, 01/18/2007

The Xbox Live Arcade file size was capped at 50 MB to accommodate consumers who purchased the hard drive-less Xbox 360 Core SKU (those consumers had to use one of Microsoft's memory cards). Under condition of anonymity, sources revealed to 1UP that the file size for Xbox Live Arcade titles has been increased from 50 MB to 250 MB and with Microsoft's approval, that size can be expanded to 450 MB. When asked for comment on the reported change to file size, Microsoft said, "We do not comment on rumor and speculation and so we can not confirm that rumor. Aside from the exception we granted for 'Castlevania: Symphony of the Night,' we have not announced any plans to alter the file size standard for Xbox Live Arcade games. However, adjusting the size limit is certainly an option in the future, and as always, we are listening to feedback both from gamers and developers on what will provide the best user experience. Whatever choice we make, we will hold a position that provides for the best possible Xbox Live Arcade gameplay experience."

The din of negative feedback got awfully loud when Microsoft and Q Entertainment partitioned Lumines Live! into a series of downloads. Part of the reason the software was divided into chunks was to accommodate the download size (the other part being the increased opportunity for both Microsoft and Q Entertainment to make money). Today, Microsoft announced the availability of new Lumines Live! content on the Marketplace next week. The free download of Heavenly Star (for Gold users) and reduced prices for a limited time on the content packs are olive branches from Microsoft and Q Entertainment.

Recent reports indicated that Konami's Castlevania: Symphony of the Night exceeded the 50 MB download size by nearly double. At 96 MB, the file wouldn't fit on the 64 MB memory card. Speaking to GameSpot, Xbox Live Arcade Group Manager Greg Canessa explained why the now-adjusted file size was instituted in the first place, "By keeping the file size small for Xbox Live Arcade games, gamers can put one or more games on a memory unit and easily bring those games to a friend's house to share and play."

But what about Core pack owners who don't have hard drives? Circumstantially, it'd seem like they are out of luck. They won't be able to download the games to their memory card and depending on how big the game is, they likely won't be able to download the demo either. However, how many folks are out there downloading Live Arcade games without an HDD? It probably works out to a small percentage. We asked Microsoft about those users and the memory card issues that the console will face with this new expanded size for Live Arcade titles. Microsoft said "There is already one possible solution in the works for this category of gamer should we decide to increase the Xbox Live Arcade game file size from its current 50 MB limit. As announced at E3 last May, a larger Memory Unit is being developed which will allow gamers who do not own a hard drive to store and easily transport several Xbox Live Arcade games at a time. We have no further details to announce at this time."

With games potentially expanding to 450 MB, an oft-rumored 256 MB memory card (EB Games lists one for $59.99, expecting it to ship March 1) wouldn't be sufficient, either. If there is a memory card upgrade (and there will be, eventually) expect it to hold 512 MB of data.

why would you start over? You can just re-assign them however you want from the menu before every level and every time you try a level again.
