Aha...you can't download the Heavenly Star skin on another Gold account and play it on Silver account...I don't even see it listed in the skin edit mode. Wow

Edit: Nevermind, it's listed under challenge mode...

It's not in Skin Edit mode?!? Maybe you have to play it first?

Someone needs to rip through all this new shit today and figure out what can end up in Skin Edit mode. I'M DYIN' HEAH!

It's in challenge mdoe first, my mistake. It has its own seperate option, seperate from Bas and Advance. It only loops the Heavenly Star skin. Once you finish a lap of the skin, it's earned under skin edit mode.

Cool. I managed to boot it up before work and saw that it had its own thing under Challenge Mode (which was...okay) but I was worried I wouldn't be able to rock it in Skin Edit Mode. I still have to get that achievement.

:D

Man.

There needs to be more skins like Heavenly Star on Lumines. Seriously. That was awesome. And its not like I really dig the song all that much, its just that there's alot going on in the background, there's alot of singing in the music (like "Shinin" in Lumines 1), and the background has alot of stuff going on. It sort of makes some of the other skins feel... bare.

I have no problem downloading (and paying for) a 500mb file for another 4 or 5 songs if there like Heavenly Star.

well, no release date has been set. all anybody has had to go by has been what's been on the team17 forums and dumb speculation. *shrug* nobody's fault.

Atleast you can spend your money elsewhere, Soon as i heard the news i dropped cash onto live.

And knowing me i'll get tempted and buy something else and still drop more money for worms.

Even though i have it on my psp Lumines Live is sure looking good

its a vicious cycle.

If there's one thing I've learned from that new GAF XBLA sales thread it is this: Even when GAF bitches, moans, and kvetches til the cows come home, they still buy the shit they are complaining about anyway. Proof: Lumines is the 3rd most bought game on that list.

I've done the same before, ended up buying doom instead of something else but that's not bad. lack of online opponents stops me getting achievements though.

I complain about it, but every time I do, I wonder if that's what Microsoft is thinking: "We've got these guys sitting on points, let's make 'em wait for the good stuff so they spend them on what's out now and then buy some more for what they really want."

I'm waiting on Castle Crashers, for example. I might buy something before that (I liked what I played of Assault Heroes), but I've decided based on this bad conspiracy theory of mine that I'm not going to pay for anything until they release another top-tier game, and I'm talking something that's at least a new version of an existing title, not a port like Castlevania.

On the plus side, I'm impressed by what I've played of Heavy Weapon. It's a decent game... I'm not going to pay 800 points for it, but they seem to give you a lot to play even if you don't drop the points on it.

I'm busted.

I DEFINITELY bitched about that gimped, overpriced piece of dung that was Lumines. They don't even friggin' TELL you the game isn't complete when you think you're buying the full version of the game. There's no way in hell I'm buyin' dat shit...

...and then I tried the demo.

I now have every bit of downloadable content for Lumines. :\

BUT!

I'm not buying any of those old-ass Namco games, or any of those Popcap flash games. If I get an Xbox Live game, it has to be REALLY good.

I bought it but with free points.

Ehn, don't feel bad, you're obviously not alone in it. But it's not hard to see why Microsoft would only take us seriously to a point. They know and we know the titles we are going to buy, and no matter what happens, we're going to buy them. They could charge 1800 points for Symphony of the Night and throw in a rough fisting with a rusty sawblade and it would still end up in the top 3 or 4 on that list.

It's like the comic book fans that complain non-stop about a title but can't bring themselves to stop buying it. We're pretty lucky we get the acknowledgment that we do.

There's the conundrum: Heavy Weapon is really, really good. Finding a four-player co-op game on Live takes a couple of seconds, and the game is the shiznit that way. War Party FTW.

I could tell it had some Flash roots, but I don't care. A great game is a great game.

I saw that achievements have been leaked for Root Beer Tapper and Paperboy.. that generally means it'll be out soon.

I'm still waiting for Cyberball, which was announced at the same time as Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Root Beer Tapper, and Paperboy. Not many have probably played this late 80s arcade game but it's one of the best co-op and versus arcade games ever. A lot of depth.

Anyone on Partner.net willing to reveal if Cyberball has made any appearance there?

Cyberball was announced? Day one purchase. I had no idea. And now Double Dragon is on my list as well. There's a lot of good stuff coming. I hope it's coming soon.

Yeah, it was announced like last E3 (or Spring) the same time Midway announced UMK3, Paperboy, and Root Beer Tapper. It's been awhile. And I think IGN had an interview with some Midway dude who basically said that the games were done just waiting for MS to release them.

And with UMK3 out and it looks like Paperboy and Root Beer Tapper will come out soon (with leaked achievements, plus I saw video of Paperboy), Cyberball is the last one left. You'd think they'd try to couple it with the Super Bowl but I guess it's not realistic football enough.

I have a full size 4-player Tournament Cyberball 2072 in my house.. and I'd love to have a 360 version to challenge other people. It's a fantastic game that's very deep even though it looks basic on the surface.

Anyone have any news?

I was under the impression that Castlevania: SOTN would be out in the month of January. Looks like next week would have to be it, but I know that since its so highly anticipated, that shits not coming out until October or something. Any news on this weeks game?

I don't know how you were under that impression...the only dates even thrown out there were "Q1 2007" and "February 10th", and the February date is just something unofficial that appeared on 1up's site...obviously a placeholder since Feb 10th isn't a Wednesday. I don't think anything other than fan speculation said otherwise.

Aside from Q1 2007, the only official word we've gotten is from arne, who is willing to bet it will be out before September. That's it.

N+ announced for Xbox360 Live! Arcade platform

Woah, we haven't updated the news in a whole year -- it's been a boring year, apparently!

Metanet Software has decided to join forces with Vancouver's Klei Entertainment to produce a version of N for Xbox Live Arcade. Development is slated to officially begin on February 1, 2007, and finish at the end of this summer.

We will make sure that this incarnation of N remains as close to the original as possible, in terms of gameplay, graphics and fun. We're including a level editor so players can make and swap their own levels, and we're testing out exciting new features such as multiplayer modes as well.

Expect to see N+ on Live Arcade fall 2007.

And in the meantime, we're working on Robotology and hope to have it finished sometime before the end of time.

Link for those unfamiliar with N

HOLY ****ING SHIT!!!

MINITON!!!

Wow. That's so ****ing awesome. N is beyond ****ing great, and I was literally talking to a friend about this not too long ago.

Wow. Those of you who like fast paced platformers and haven't played N, you're in for a huge ninja-style treat. Get your MS Points ready.

Worms, Bomberman, N+, Mutant Storm Empire with co-op. Throw in a couple of surprises and Arcade 2007 could be truly legendary.

You forgot Alien Hominid, and motherfcukin' Castle Crashers.

"Q1"

Hopefully something good this week. Did Castle Crashers ever get a release window?

Magic The Gathering, so sayeth the Luke. I've always had a passing interest in CCGs but never had the wherewithal to actually go out and buy packs and collect the cards and play it with other people, but having it on Live, combined with XBLM, would be a really nice solution.

dont expect castle crashers any time soon, it was always slated for 2007 while alien hominid was a 2006 release, with AH not hitting in 2006 I dont expect castle crashers anytime soon.

This week, I predict another shitty release, maybe another rally X even if worms is ready to go.

Worms isn't ready to go, it failed the last stages of certification with some multiplayer bugs.

Magic The Gathering is really the right type of game for microtransactions. It's fairly balanced, and you don't need the booster packs to remain competitive. That said, I hope they are reasonable about the microtransactions and do not kill the game with high prices.

some multiplayer bugs? I find that hard to believe, considering some of the things that managed to get on xbla (sf2 says hi)

Of course sf2 was patched up later on, but even after 6 months of delays it came out buggy, and considering team 17 is TERRIBLE at launching any kind of an online title, I expect the worst from it initially.

Anyone here ever play the dreamcast worms world party? Getting connected to one room in a month was an amazing achievement.

Not surprising at all. Certification on XBL has been shit to begin with. They have poor standards and tons of crap slips out, but stuff still fail cert all the time. It's normal.

Had no idea this was coming. I played the shit out of MtG: Battlegrounds on XB. This'll most likely be card battling but i'm interested.

I fear what games would be like WITHOUT the process, if this is how many problems slip through afterwards.

Yeah it's really a lose-lose scenario either way you look at it. The ideal scenario would be if the cert team magically improves overnight into something that's efficient AND error-free. Otherwise it looks like long waits AND occassionally buggy games are going to continue being the norm.

Certification on something like XBLA has to be difficult.
You can't safely assume that a small indy dev team is going to have the same QA/QM team, processes and tracking as a full-blown dev house. Couple that with the fact that Microsoft is still trying VERY hard to ensure that there are no "backdoors" into the innards of the system and you have a very lengthly cert process.
