Golden Axe is still as sweet as it was back in the day. Love that game.

XBLA owns me (and a lot of my money too).

Bomberman is cool, still getting used to it. I suck royal.

I wish they would get Xenophobe on XBLA.
 
I still remember Gertsmann bitching bout Yie Ar not coming to NA when it was announced Japanese exclusive.

So now he gets his wish, then realizes the game wasn't that great to begin with.

Yie Ar was not really a good game to begin with. It was part of the evolution of fighting games, along with Karate Champ and Street Fighter 1. Once Street Fighter II came out, Yie Ar it became a respected ancestor to the modern day fighting game, but as a standalone game in 2007, it leaves much to be desired.
 
I still don't understand why Golden Axe is the Genesis version instead of the arcade one. I would've bought it if it was the arcade Golden Axe but I'm not giving anyone money for some lame half ass Genny port.

I've played enough of both myself, and I believe that you sir, are incorrect!

edit: I've just fired up the XBLA version, differences i've noticed between this and the console.. At the character select screen, there is a background picture. In the genesis one it's just black. The amazon character's ass looks different. In the genesis version she's wearing more of a thong. In the very opening scene, you can see a bunch of trees back in the swamp. In the genesis version there is one row of trees.

maybe somebody can post some comparison pics or something.
 
A bit of new news on Super Puzzle Fighter II HD Remix, no it isn't a release date, but still an encouraging sign as the website for said title has just gone live with the usual things, screenshots, videos, downloads and such that oen finds on these websites.

Also, I can assure you that Golden Axe is the arcade version, if a game has a arcade version that is the one that gets uploded to the Xbox Live Arcade, the name is rather literal in that regard.

easiest way to tell is by the color of the dwarves axe... it was gold in the arcade(hence the name Golden Axe) and Silver/Grey on Genesis..

I guess oblivion should have scored a bit less since its not that good for multiplayer.. :lol
bomberman live (!) is a great little gem to play with your pals either offline or through xbox live.

lack of more varied graphics pieces on stages is what I'd cut points for. if.

I was in your position, but the achievements are pretty fun trying to get, if not impossible (stupid beat the game with one life).

That one isn't too bad. Then again I have pretty much the entire game memorized so eh.

I'm not saying it is a bad achievement, I'm saying it is impossible. I've been playing this game since it was released on the Genesis and I can only make it up to the under water stage and I usually die somewhere there.

Well I don't know how I can help then. Sonic is one of those games where you can't really apply strategies..it's all "don't die and stuff".

Personally the part that always screws me up in that stage is act 3 where it splits into two paths. One path is boring and takes forever to get through while the other part is short but it has like no rings to collect. Also rising platforms that send Sonic straight into spikes is nasty stuff. Not to mention the whole Robotnik "fight" which can be the most difficult part of the game.

Scrap Brain Zone act 1 is still the hardest stage in the game though imo. Mainly due to the spinning platforms over nice huge pits.

Guy beats the game in less than 18 minutes.

*HOLY SHIT* @ the way he gets the last invincibility box in Green Hill act 3. I'll have to try that sometime.

Its an elite achievement. Its for mega-props to the people who get it. Like getting to wave 100 in Joust and Robotron, or beating Smash TV on one continue. They're achievements you think are impossible until people start getting them.

You know you can save anywhere right? Because of this,Those achievements really aren't that hard to get, more a matter of trial & error, like so many achievements unfortunately
 
The XBLA Golden Axe has two things the Genesis version does not have: Variations on the dying sound [I believe the Genesis only had one 'die' sound for enemies], and the fact that the enemies leave a corpse behind when they die - something the Genesis version really could not comprehend.

Being a huge Sonic 'nerd' I'm tempted to buy Sonic just so I can attempt to get those achievements, and see if I can live up to the Sonic 'nerd' title :lol

Labyrinth or Scrap Brain would kill me though, I wouldn't be surprised if Spring Yard killed me either :\

From the realm of the theoretical comes this gem, an alleged fan favorite of the indie scene, a game called Braid might be hitting our favorite downloadable service. It appears to be more then wild speculation as the creator of the game is in discussions to bring Braid to the XBLA, but no deal is at hand quite yet.

Impossible? More like incredibly easy.

Thanks to Sega being dumb and letting you use save states, every achievement is easy as hell.

I'd like Sonic 2 to kill the save state thing and see if people can REALLY beat the game without dying.
 
Oh wait you can save midgame and STILL get the achievements? Smooth move. *sigh*
So even if I do get the achievement the legit way(which is entirely possible, I've beaten Sonic 1 many times without dying) it won't even matter because everyone else can do the same just by saving/reloading.

Well, apparently it appears that at least one game coming this week is now known and indeed the rumors were true, unfortunately I don't think this is the game people are wanting. Anyway, XBOX 360 Fanboy here says they have word that Wing Commander Arena is going to be streeting on the 25th of July. Don't fret yet as it could always be a two game week and Puzzle Fighter could drop on that day as well.
