I just wanted to say that Streets of Rage 2 is amazingly awesome. I never played the original so it's great that it was ported to XBLA.

I re-downloaded the Small Arms trial and gave it a try to see if I liked it, and while not perfect I decided to get it as I can play on it with a mate. 400pts is a good price for it and im happy to pay it!
Damn Microsoft making me add points to my account to get it!

Although, I still want Prince of Persia, got 300 points left, won't spend those, might add 1000 to my account at the end of the month, get PoP and either save for something else or get something for 400!

Anyone know how close Switchball is? Really looking forward to that, also tempted to get SWOS when its out.

Speaking of DigDug, any word on how to get the "Dig" achievement? I dug up every last bit of dirt that's possible to dig, but it didn't give me the achievement. Is there a trick to it?
It's just kinda broken. You have to do it over and over until the game lets up and finally shares it with you. Very annoying.
Or so I've heard, I got it first try. :D

Just 'cause it's on sale doesn't mean it's a good deal. You can play free flash versions of Dig Dug.

Avoid.
Yeah...because at this point your tirade against retro games hasn't gotten old at all! There might actually be one or two junior members who'll still listen to you!

Just kidding. Kinda. It seriously got old like a year ago, man.

I bought Zuma and Dig Dug & Track & Field(I regret it so much), funny thing is now I have this weird ass amount of points left.
(320 points to be exact)

So does this mean I might be able to get in to some 4 player games of gauntlet now? I think I managed to play 4 players ONCE... back when it first hit :(

Grabbed Dig Dug.

Am I the only who actually likes Centipede & Millipede? Even the Evolved versions of it?

Yes. Sadistically unfair game. (I'm speaking only of the insanely and wildly unpredictable and bastardly hard to dodge spiders that show up from second 1. That's just not fun.)

Tempy said:

Those are even worse! The dumbasses at Stainless halved the amount of rows on screen, but didn't think to turn down the centi/millipede speed to compensate for it, creating an infinitely harder game. Too bad they fucked that part up, since it looks pretty.

Does anyone know if the Puzzle Quest coming to XBLA is the exact same game that was released on DS/PSP? Has it been changed or gimped at all?

It's a spruced up version of the PSP rev. II fixed bugs and added online multi-player with tweaks for balance, making it more viable... supposedly. The jury is still out on how playable multi-player is.

One Marvel exec has the same dream that many of us have.

http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=15339

In addition, when discussing the classic 2D fighting games using Marvel characters, Gamasutra asked if there was a possibility of them (Marvel Superheroes and Marvel Vs. Capcom, among others) appearing on Xbox Live Arcade or other console digital download services - to which Lambros replied:

"Yeah, those are among my all time favorites. I’m a huge 2D fighting fan... the Marvel Vs. Capcom stuff has a definite close place in my heart, so we definitely wanna see that stuff live on."

However, it appears that Marvel does not yet have any concrete deals in place to re-issue classic Marvel-licensed titles on such services - though they may now be considering it.

My friend got sonic on XBLA just the other day and that game is absolute trash. I was surprised when i saw it, i never remembered any of the sonic games being that bad.

I think i may get MK3 ultimate, wouldn't mind having a fighting game i could play. This will mean i will have 400 points spare, are there many good games worth 400 points?

It's no Sonic 2, but trash? Whaaaat?

You're calling Sonic trash and then considering buying UMK3? I mean, Sonic hasn't aged too well, but UMK3 sucked when it was released.

Okay. not sure how this happened but Mad Tracks is up for some kind of award.

“Mad Tracks XBLA” trilogy was nominated to compete in the best French console game category.

The competition will be held from September 21st to 23rd during the annual French Video Game Festival in Paris.

On the opening night, a grand jury Directed by Frederick RAYNAL (Alone in the dark) will declare the best of the best in 5 categories.

10 prizes will be awarded:

• Best Graphics award

• Best scenario award

• Best sound track award

• Best console game award

• Best PC game award

• Best hand held console game award

• Best mobile game award

• Best learning game award

• Grand prix award

Mad Tracks was praised by the jury for its depth, playability, original gameplays, popular success and overall quality for a 47Mb game (XBLA limits). Competition will be tough against UbiSoft GRAW2, but Load Inc Vice President Denis Bourdain is already jumping around: “competing against GRAW2 in an official award ceremony is a victory already. Being selected by Frederick RAYNAL and his jury makes us all hyper!! We hope this will prove that size doesn’t (always) matter. We also are very happy our friends from Hydravision are selected in this prestigious race. They deserve to win as much as we do”.

Make sure to visit http://www.fjv.fr/prix-du-festival.html for more info.

Don’t get even – get mad (Tracks).

Any Puzzle Fighter review that is under 8.5 is just a horrible pack of lies. It is THE competitive puzzler.
It was reviewed by the fatass. Problem solved.
I bought Puzzle Fighter last week, and I suck at this game. Any pointers? I'm trying to get the "break a power gem worth at least 25" achievement, and the best I could do was 20...

Last two achievements for me are the 7-chain and the Y/Z one. Haven't really sought out either, though. I'm sure I'll eventually get the 7 just through normal play, but I don't know if I can stomach Y or Z mode long enough to get that one.

Bought Streets of Rage 2 this weekend. Man that game is such a laggy mess online. There was such a huge delay when attacking that I could barely get pass the 1st stage without using a continue. Also, the online community for that game is practically zero. Hopefully it gets more players.

I also got puzzle fighters and that game is much more enjoyable. I probably wont play online for a while since I know that puzzle fighter players are insanely good. I kinda get the strategy of the game, but just to clarify, I basically have to set my jewels up to what the enemy has when they attack, right? Anyways, Im loving the game and the sound is just sex when cranked up on a 5.1 system.

Only for Ryu, Chun, characters where they're drops have an exploitable pattern. For the most part you should be trying to screw up the others game, sending little things, or building big things, it depends on your strategy. I tend to try to build up one big thing on one side while constantly breaking little things on the other. But that's just me.

Same. Y takes FOREVER to win a match and Z is just dull.
Yea, it was pretty painful. Z is the one that is like Panel de Pon (just with a 4-block cursor), right? I just kept lifting the blocks while moving the cursor around while hitting A with no remorse. It took no skill at all.

I'm pretty good at X' mode. :D

I picked up Gauntlet as part of the discount weekend thing. If anyone wants to play on Live send me a friend request. My GamerTag is RyoGCH. I'd like to pick up some of the Co-Op achievements.

It has the idea of Panel de Pon, but instead of switching two pieces you rotate four. I dunno why, but switching two pieces kicks ass and rotating four sucks balls.

Interestingly, the leaderboard is going to be reset. So don't bother going for any high scores until the patch hits.
What the fuck!

Hopefully, Minter & co are doing that because they realized how dumb it is to have the "super ox" and "space" (normal) modes share a leaderboard since they yield insanely different scores. It's no fun having an awesome space score, only to be crushed to pieces by players in super ox. :(

This is also good because a buddy of mine bet me I couldn't get the #1 spot in the game. I'm gonna be on that leaderboard reset like a hawk. :D

By the way, I'm the proud first owner -- who isn't Jeff Minter or a script kiddie hacker -- of the Long-Neck Long March achievement. :D
