I'm really hoping they sneak something awesome out (like Puzzle Quest) along with Sonic 2. At this point theres really no excuse not having at least 2 games per week. I doubt thats gonna happen though :\

Wow great XBLA news, its probably my most played platform, I love that they have announced more new types of games.

Now the wait.

Bring on Ikaruga & Res please.

It seems like every 2 days theres an announcement of 1-3 previously unannounced games coming to XBLA. Then why, do I ask, are we stuck with one game weeks, especially if it's a retro title?

i know, imagine if we have weeks that are like Ikaruga and Rez.

Or Castle Crashers and Puzzle quest......

It wouldn't be as good really.

Please sneak out somthing awesome with sonic 2 tonight, still have my genesis set up and can play it easily, nerd points aren't such a huge selling point.

Rez....in HD....Awesome.

I love that first level...The music really integrates well on that stage and its easy enough that you can simply lay back and enjoy the splendor. Really looking for to it!

Has anyone on here actually brought Band of Bugs?

I sort of feel sorry for Ninja Bee because I loved Cloning Clyde, and yet haven't even tried Band of Bugs. And I fell a lot of people are in the same boat.
Bought it, beat it, loved it and am eagerly anticipating the fix for the DLC.

(The new achievements are beyond broken and I don't want to get the DLC before that is sorted once and for all as the NB guys are still in doubt over whether or not you can re-gain them after the fix -- you might get screwed out of ever getting them.)

TBA on price right now.
I'm pretty sure it's 800.

Here's to hoping that Rez has an achievement for saving the girl, which is something I never bothered to do and I'd love to be "forced" to get off my ass and do it.

Well, just as the last bit of the first wave of the Sega Vintage Collection, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, was released, word comes that Sega has revealed the first two entrants from their second wave. Crack Down and ESWAT: City Under Siege are coming to the XBLA some time in the future, not the most impressive of titles in my opinion though it could have been better (Landstalker, Shnining Force) it also could have been worse (Alex Kidd, Virtua Fighter 2).

Do we know when Ikaruga, Trigger Heart Exelica, Rez, and Every Extend Extra are hitting live?

Man, I must've missed the Ikaruga part before....man...I broke my Gamecube controller over that game out of sheer frustration.....and I seriously don't want to do it again....but man....Treasure's shooter goodness....it's not fair.....even more unfair would be if they ported Radiant Silvergun to XBLArcade. Double dose of the evilness!

Sega needs to get Tant-R on XBLA. But I hope they'd do it properly, and not just a quick port job like these Vintage games. It would be a good game to play internationally too - crossing cultural borders pretty easily.

Xboxic here has gathered all available info about the title that combines poker with Tetris Attack of all things to create one of the more unique titles for the service, Poker Smash by Void Star Production, possibly "the next big thing" according to the site.

Our dear friends over at XBLArcade.com have a lengthy Q&A session over this new game described as so:

I dunno, can I see some ID? Er, okay, seriously...a "Screwjumper" is a renegade intergalactic mercenary ex-mine worker. DEATH IS THEIR BREAD! DANGER IS THEIR BUTTER! They're real tough, hard-nosed sorts, who had spent their lives working in deep, perilous mineshafts on planets like Scruto, Libitino, Floratone and Hecateus -- sort of like a secret society of blue-collar loose cannons from space. Automation at the mines, however, has put the Screwjumpers out of a gig, so they've resorted to mercenaryism to make ends meet and grab a quick adrenaline fix in the process. As fate would have it, the Screwjumpers' primary customers these days are the residents of the planets which are being devastated by the mines in which they used to work -- turns out the folks who actually live there want the mines gone, in a big way. So, irony of ironies, the Screwjumpers have now been hired to destroy the mines they once helped build. Eh, it's a living.

Now, as to the parallel question of WHY they're called "Screwjumpers," that's a little more mundane in origin. Back on Earth, our original design for the game called for the characters to jump down the shafts on these huge, sort of corkscrew-like, structures -- so, yes, they were originally supposed to be jumping down on big screws, hence "Screwjumpers." That lasted for about a week before technical unfeasability put the kibosh on the notion of two zillion rotating corkscrews, but the name still stuck, probably because it sounds kinda dirty.

Ben:

Screwjumpers? Two zillion rotating corkscrews? Norb! Stop giving away our secrets! Besides everyone knows that Screwjumpers (ex mine-workers) are named as such because of the vast array of screws needed to patch together the mines of the Evil Alien Corporation. Geez..

XBLArcade.com:

LunarDuality summed Screwjumper! up as a modern Paperboy with jetpacks and high explosives but that's based on very limited knowledge of the game. How would you sum it up?

Ben

Screwjumper! is a vertical action/racing game which pits the player (a Screwjumper named Skruii, or one of his various associates) against the Evil Alien Corporation known only as the EAC (aren’t we clever?). Skruii undertakes missions assigned by the Screwjumpers Union. He is tasked with destroying alien mining equipment and architecture while plummeting downward in continual, rapid, free-fall descent. The game is a combination of fast-paced demolition and subterranean skydiving.

The objective of the game is to maximize score by crashing into and dynamiting as many alien structures as possible on the way down the mineshaft, then to initiate a detonation and race back to safety on the planet’s surface.

The site also features the first ever screen shots for Screwjumper!

I don't recall seeing a rumor like that before, but it might be true, it might not at this point.

Yeah, I would imagine they want people to come home from the Saturday matches with a taste for football, and then download it straight away... or something like that.

Shard if you (the king of XLBA News) havn't heard it I must have dreamt it. :D
