That would be a shame, I really only want to lay down 1200 on something I'm certain of, like Puzzle Quest. Guess the demo had better be pretty good in that case.

Damn you Halo 3, damn you to hell.

Xbox LIVE Arcade price drops, new Bomberman content

What a happy Monday!

Not only is there only one day left before Halo 3 launches, but we've also lowered the price on three Arcade games for one week as announced here. To add to the Arcade joy, there is another Bomberman add-on pack coming on the 26th as well.

Are you serious? Our Wednesday game is a Bomberman pack? Tell me there's an entree to go with this appetizer, please. Also, not sure how I feel about the 100 point sales for XBLA. I guess their heart is in the right place...

Bankshot Billiards 2 dropped 300 points but yea this is pretty assy. I curse Halo 3 to the briny depths of hell.

Dropping down to 200 points put it into "what the hell, purchase!" category. 300 points puts it into the "why are you even trying?" category.

You wish. There's nothing this week.

would have thought MS would have realesed a shitter for the one and only sake so saking th ehave released a xbla game each week for amount of weeks etc.

Dint blame them tho, it wold be the ultimate sent to die

As I wrote in the other thread... That is NOT a good deal...

Bankshot Billiards 2 is a pack-in in several Live cards, so you can find those cards pretty cheap elsewhere. And Frogger/Hardwood Spades for 100 points less? Nah, if they were half price maybe.

The last deal was pretty good, I am sorry I could not get Zuma for 400 pts (my 360 was coming out of the death...).

Bomberman is good, but I believe its contents are a little bit overpriced. For 150 pts each I would get them.

And no game this week?!? Blame Halo, no one wants to go against it...

Still waiting for Puzzle Quest and Poker Smash....

I would buy a good XBLA game this week. As much as I appreciate what Halo 3 has done, it's also made me realize that XBLA/PSN-type games are often far more appealing to me than AAA major releases. I'm sure there are at least four others that feel the same.

Just logged on to the market, saw frogger at200, and Bankshot Billards at 600, they are at
1/2 price. Is Bankshot billards any good?

So it's 1/2 off now? Hmmm, interesting.

Yes its a pretty good pool game and at half price i wouldnt think twice about it imho.

Actually it's pretty awful. A lot of people got it as a pack in free anyway.

Frogger doesn't tickle my fancy. I did buy the half price Dig Dug last time though.

Would it really make a difference if they released a game the day after Halo 3? It's not like they're competing for shelf space, and it will still be there next week in the exact same place and even under "new releases".

I'd buy one of the releases I've been waiting and waiting for without question, like Puzzle Quest. Releases have been weak lately, imo.

Yeah, and someone posted the shocking statistic that XBLA games only make 30% of their overall revenue in the first week, so like... pull your fingers out MS.

Am truly sad.

Half off makes it interesting. I've always disliked Frogger but for $3 I'll give it a shot. Although I'd like to help support the developer, I don't know crap on playing Spades so sorry to them.

I heard that Xbox Live Arcade games were supposed to be 50% off starting sometime today lasting a week - anyone else heard this? My source was... some random guy at a random video game store, heh. I held off buying Golden Axe, Double Dragon, TMNT, *Contra and Streets of Rage because of this info (just got a 360, heh) ...

Can you play XBLA games co-op online with a silver account?

Bankshot Billiards 2 is just lackluster - I bought it for the initial 1200 MS -price, and I have regretted that decision greatly.

I can't wait for Puzzle Quest and Ikaruga, though. I will buy those no matter what they cost.

1200 MS Points and 800 MS Points.

I'd definitely buy a good game this week too. And yes, I'm also playing Halo 3. But one can't play halo 3 ALL the time... oh well.

Another confirmation that Frogger is 200pts here.

I downloaded the trial and played it...it's the same fun Frogger with better graphics and sound...but the controls suck. Damn the d-pad on the 360. The analog stick isn't much better for Frogger. No sale. :(

Texas Hold' em and Hexic 2 Title Updates Coming

When I think about life, I wish that someone could just come along and make all my bankroll problems go away. As a bonus, it'd be good if I had someone to let me know when a bomb was about to blow up near me (even a 5 minute warning would be nice).

If you enjoy Texas Hold' em and Hexic 2, my sick thoughts will make a lot of sense to you, because you're about to get a title update to make your gaming life better. The updates will clean up some exploits and bankroll troubles in Texas Hold 'em and some bomb and timer issues in Hexic 2. Leaderboards will also be reset to keep things fair. Read the detailed update descriptions below to get the full scoop.

Texas Hold’em:

A Title Update for Texas Hold’em will be released later this week, which includes the following updates:

• Players must now have adequate buy-in to start a game
• Enhancements in the quality of language translation
• Resolved exploit for increasing competitive bankroll

As such, the competitive bankroll and corresponding Leaderboards will also be reset at the time of the title update to restore competitive balance. Player Match and Single Player bankrolls and Leaderboards will remain intact.

Hexic 2:

We’ve listened to the community and are making the following updates on 9/28 to enhance the gameplay experience in Hexic 2:

• Bombs now appear as intended in continued saved games for Marathon or Timed modes; previously they did not appear if the game was saved on Level 8.
• In Timed saved games, the timer will now start as soon as a rotation is made in a saved game, rather than when the first combo is made. It still takes a valid combo to start the timer at the beginning of a new game.
• When there are no more available moves (detonating a special piece is still considered a valid available move), the board will now reset with new pieces.
• A sound is now played when a bomb first appears in Marathon or Timed more to give the player appropriate warning.

Marathon, Marathon Weekly and Timed Leaderboards will be reset when the title update is available to ensure all scores posted are valid. No other Leaderboards will be affected.

All Timed saved games and Level 8 Marathon saved games are no longer valid and will not load. Survival saved games are not affected

You may or may not be aware of this game, announced via a brief clip at E3 2007, the, if one recalls correctly, third Tetris game to hit the system, this time trough the proper channel of XBLA. Anyway, this splash page was just added to the Xbox.com site. The important features are three modes of play Tetris, T-Spin, and Combo, with multiplayer options ranging from 6-player online support and 4-player local. Moreover multiplayer can be done cooperatively, or competitively and there is going to be a screensaver mode.

With the new site comes new images.

Lastly, this XBLA title actually has a video up on the Xbox.com site, a rater rare feat actually.

:-(

I checked the discount titles last night. Now they have the correct prices, 900 pts for Bankshot Billiards 2 and 300 pts for Frogger.... Bah, for 600 pts I would consider Billiards, but not for 900.

Why are there no secret achievements in XBLA games?
I guess Castlevania is the biggest perpetrator so far, but they could be useful in the future.

I still don't understand why Bankshot Billiards is 1200pts normally. I own it because it came with my XBL package but there's no way in hell it should be priced higher than 800pts.
My second biggest XBLA regret, first being Lumines Live, I just suck as it so much.:lol

Aw, Lumines is great. My only suggestions would be to mod the d-pad so it's a bit less wonky and to first go for the achievements like clearing the Base levels (if you haven't done this yet). You will certainly get better. After a while the problem with Lumines becomes that you have to play for 45 minutes for the game to really "start" (Shane aptly pointed this out on one of the podcasts) but it's always a great chill-out game.
