I've just dived back into thanks to E4's pleasing refresher course into Q?'s awesomeness. I'm trying to put together the perfect "Set List" to get that One Lap, 250k achievement.

Any suggestions anyone?
This may sound like cheating, but I just picked one skin, put it on endless, and played until I got that achievement. I know, I know, it's cheating, but it worked for me... :D

Edit: Battlestar Galactica is crap. It may even be worse than Wing Commander Arena. And it made me watch an annoying video twice when I wanted to exit the game.
Anytime a game does that to you, just open up the guide and hit Y.

To play levels 101-220, it looks like we'll have to first wait for the packs to be released on XBLA and then pay for them. There are achievements tied to those levels. This means that there are only 85 points available in Exit at the moment. Didn't Microsoft specifically say you can't do that when they laid down the rules about 6 months ago?

What the fuck? Is that true? He must've misunderstood something, right? Sorry if this was discussed. I ignored EXIT until I got bored and just bought it at random.

I'm not sure of the truth to the Achievements, but he's mostly right. The original 100 levels are open from the start. There are 20 more levels that require prior levels to be completed (I think the first 10 need world 4 done and the next need world 7). Then there are 80 levels that require two different download packs (or so the game says), neither of which is on the marketplace.

It's pretty confusing, could be pretty shitty depending on if/how much is charged, and I'd be angry if the game was more than $10... but it's not and 120 levels (and the controls seem improved from the PSP version) is a lot of content for $10.

Verdict: Not Happy but Not Lumines-Rage Angry

In the MS rulebook, you are NOT allowed to charge for the first 200 achievements. So the remaining packs must be free.
I know, but it's stilly pretty shitty. When I buy games, I bury myself in them and go for the gold from square one. I'm not allowed to play my full version of Exit even thought I bought it and, according to MS rules, am entitled to the next packs. The fuck is the point if they're free, and will probably come at a (for me) unacceptably far away later date. I like to rush through games like a tornado, damn it. :(

Then again, I'm struggling to have fun in Exit anyway. Mr. ESC is awesome, but he should've taken those extra few years of physical therapy after whatever horrible accent made him slower than a 90-year-old lady with a roller. Would've been a lot more fun if the times to beat were a little more lenient or if ESC was as athletic as the prince in the XBLA PoP. Damn, the thought of the latter has me drooling.

Maybe they will do the same thing as the PSP version? Release 10 packs with 10 levels each at a later time for free.

I'm pretty sure all 200 gamerpoints must be obtainable in the base download for XBLA games. It could be the case that more gamerpoints on top of the 200 are available with the "extra" levels (that is allowed).

Heh, I bet this isn't MS's doing anyway. Did you guys get Exit when it came out on PSP? Taito staggered the pack releases over a span of a month or two, probably to increase replayability.

You know he can run, right?

For the persons, whomever you might possibly be, craving for more information on SpongeBob SquarePants: Underpants Slam. well, THQ has got you covered.

http://www.xblarcade.com/node/1363

In SpongeBob SquarePants: Underpants Slam!, players will collect Lord of the Sea Neptune’s underpants that have been spread across the sea bottom by a powerful storm current. The game features key locations from the series such as the Krusty Krab, the Flying Dutchman’s ship and the depths of the new Treasure Room of Atlantis, where players will search for the bronze, silver and gold medallions. Game modes include single-player Quest and Time Trial Modes, as well as multiplayer Slam and Tag Modes. Players will gain special powers from pick-ups that allow movement at super speed, invincibility or the ability to steal pants from other players. SpongeBob SquarePants: Underpants Slam! also features slapstick moves that knock down and slow opponents.

Why do I report on this you may ask, well, the answer to that is one day this game (among others) is going to befoul the service with its release and steal a spot that would be better resolved for releasing, ya know good games.

http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/10/25/freeverse-bringing-airburst-to-xbla/

Freeverse, the company that brought Spyglass Board Games and Marathon: Durandal to Xbox Live Arcade (on the same day!), has announced a new title for the service called Airburst. The game is being developed by Freeverse's UK counterpart Strange Flavour and emphasizes the pick-up-and-play philosophy of XBLA and "promises to be one of the best party games on the platform." The game features characters riding platforms made of balloons, doing their keep the "chainsaw-bladed burster ball" from destroying their platform while simultaneously bouncing the ball back towards the opponent's platform. It sounds a bit like Pong, only the object is to not let the ball hit your paddle. Airburst promises multiple gametypes, character-specific abilities, and the requisite "crazy power-ups," so it looks like everything is covered. Well, almost everything: no release date has been announced.

Well dammit I know what I need to do next time I play Lumines. Then again I bet Q? patched it so oh well.

Oh and last night I screwed up at about 430,000 points, 70k shy of the achievement. I cut myself really bad afterwards. =(

I'm very late to the party with Mutant Storm Reloaded. At the time it was first available I just figured it for a Geometry Wars clone and as I was sick of Geometry Wars at the time I let it slide. After reading some positive comments in this thread I dived in (just hours before Empire was announced as coming this Wednesday). It's a pretty awesome game and I want to delve a fair bit into it before I purchase Empire.

Shard said:
Last report I saw had it at 400 points.

I for one aren't buying one table at that price.

It came out before GW and both are Robotron clones anyway! (I know you weren't being entirely serious, I'm just anal about hate on Mutant Storm.)

But good buy! One of the best and most rewarding XBLA games yet.

Omega Five Trailer
God damn it, they're sticking with the offline co-op only. I was hoping that was just placeholder in the beta. :(

Have they fixed the horrid unplayable control system in Omega Five?

Edit: Sorry, didn't catch it was just a trailer. I guess we'll see.

Err, it controls just like Forgotten Worlds and there's nothing wrong with that?
So you're saying "yes" then. :)

The last time I played it, it was like playing Forgotten Worlds without the ability to change the direction you fire. It reminded me of the Master System version of Forgotten Worlds with you having to change the rotation with fire buttons.

So thanks for the good news!

Were you playing as the old samurai dude with the dog, by any chance?

Yes, after some focus group testing, the controls have been made to be more intuitive for western audiences, so now one stick controls your movement, and the other one controls the direction you fire. Similar in concept to Geometry Wars. But it plays like Forgotten Worlds.

If that still doesn't mean anything to you, then you'll have to wait for the demo in Nov.

And if that still doesn't do it for you, then a shooter fan you are not!

Dude that TOTALLY does it for me. It was exactly what the game needed. That's the best news I got all day!

...I really need to get out more.
