I'm actually more interested in Poker Smash than Omega Five. But a multiplayer version of N+ sounds almost transcendent. Those games have probably been on partner net for months.Shard said:On the subject of Poker Smash, Gamevideos has new video footage of the game, I have the feeling that Poker Smash is going to drop soon.

I grabbed some screens of a couple menus, the leaderboard and downloadable replay stuff is nice along with the video and hud settings.
These jpg's are pretty compressed but it looks excellent in motion, runs with antialiasing turned on also. I might grab some video but afterall it's just Ikaruga

MS3 just passed, O5, N+, Rez, Lode Runner, Castle Crashers... Mmm.

Any word on a "classic art" style mode, and how level creating's gonna work?

Shard said:N+ XBLA is going to have a level editor, not sure what you mean about a classic art style though.
SnakeXs said:We gonna be able to trade them any way? Such a missed opportunity of not. An upload/ranking system for them would be boss. Wouldn't deflate the hype for it at all, though.
And, I thought I saw some media that looked a little different than the classic flash version... Googled a few images just now and it seems pretty authentic, so ignore that.
Woo.
Another big plus for N+ is multiplayer support for up to four players, either on a single system or over Xbox Live. Players can work with or against each other in Co-op, Race or Survival games. Co-op Mode comes in two flavors: standard and MP. Basic co-op has players working together through the standard set of single-player levels. MP Mode, on the other hand, gives players a whole new set of levels, especially designed for multiplayer gameplay. Race is pretty self-explanatory, pitting players in a race to the finish through a series of levels, while Survival is a last-man-standing match, featuring stages loaded to the hilt with explosive mines, gun turrets and other hazards ready to snap any wary ninja into a handful of pieces.
N+ is scheduled to release with hundreds of levels to keep players busy for some time, but just in case thats not enough for you, N+ also includes a simple-to-use level editor, giving players the ability to easily craft stages suited to their own degree of masochism. Blank stages are presented in a large grid, looking much like a giant sheet of graph paper. Players can cycle through N+s object library and place items on the grid in endless combinations. You can do a dry run of a level on the fly, and fix things up in a snap. Its all a simple process, yet deep enough to enable you generate a lot of interesting results. Players can save their custom levels and share them with friends, though in this early build I wasnt able to test out any of the level-sharing capabilities or to see how the custom levels play online. Still, its a great way to give the game some extra longevity
It's a puzzle game, looking somewhat like Puyo Puyo or Puzzle Fighter with blocks that build up and move slowly towards the top of the screen, but each of the blocks is a playing card rather than a colored gem. And your goal is to move around pieces so you line up poker hands -- three of a kind, royal flush, etc. As you create hands, those pieces disappear, and you have to keep doing this to prevent the stack from reaching the top of the screen.
So it's essentially Puzzle Fighter for people who want to think about their game in a deeper way, since not only do you have to figure out where to move pieces in order to make playing card hands, but also how that will affect other pieces on the screen and how the remains can fit together. Mix in a limited number of bombs you can use to take out individual pieces that get in your way, and the ability to speed up or slow down how quickly the playing field moves up, and you've got a game with a decent number of variables.
In our hands-on time with the game today, the controls and interface worked great. It's a puzzle game where all you do is move icons around, so it's kind of hard to screw that up on the control side, but from the visual effects, like electricity that shows up when you connect a hand, to the way the camera zooms in when you do well, the presentation doesn't feel cheap like in many Live Arcade casual games. It definitely feels like more of a hardcore puzzle title than a casual one, as these things go.

Today, being the little detectives we like to think we are, we decided to go search crazy on the ESRB ratings board website and we struck XBLA gold! We came across Xbox 360 listings for three new and unannounced XBLA games including PopCap's addictive Peggle, Codemasters' Bliss Island and Majesco's Ultra Bust-A-Move which, in all honestly, could be an Xbox Original seeing that it originally released to the black box a few years back. Since we found all these games listed on the ESRB we have absolutely no other details pertaining to release dates or pricing, but we're sure we'll be seeing one, two or all of them making headlines later this year. So, who is up for some XBLA Peggle?

And as a thank you for your loyalty during this holiday period, we will be offering all of our Xbox LIVE members around the world access to a full Xbox LIVE Arcade game that will be available to download free of charge. In the coming weeks we will be sharing the specific details of this offer with you.

...wow, way to completely miss the fact that Poker Smash is a thinly veiled Panel De Pon / Tetris Attack clone. No wonder nobody here is interested in it yet. :/Shard said:New 1up.com Preview of Poker Smash
