Schizoid looks like a mix of Geometry Wars, flOw, and Ikaruga.

Those shots are actually old unfortunately, but nobody put them up! They're from the Torpex game site and were added last year, IGN added the ones they had missing over the weekend, and I assume X360f did the same :)

Still, I want to see more of this game.

It will probably be at GDC, presumably as a showcase of XNA.

I had a feeling all we were going to get was Undertow. It seems like if there's any excuse to not release a new game, they will take it. I know that's not true. Or is it. Anyhoo I suppose I can't complain about a free game.

Initially I was disappointed that there was no game this week. Then I realised that I have a stack of games I'm not even close to finishing so really shouldn't be buying any more! :lol

Please don't be a dry week, please.

I have a feeling that MS were going to release Undertow for free on it's own, regardless of the recent Live problems. I think they want a universal multiplayer game that's synonymous with XBLA - kinda like a poor man's answer to Warhawk. I'm guessing MS are banking on the viral benefits of every XBLA player owning a copy.

"Award winning"?

:lol

YEAHHHHH....

I swear MS LOVES using that.

Here's the real reason why:

Free Game = Simultaneous Volume
Free Game Has Multiplayer = Simultaneous Volume x 1,000,000,000,000

Add anything like Ikaruga or something sick, we're right back in the shit.

Watch them release Discs of Tron instead of N+, so that we'll have to wait another two weeks minimum before it might be available.

I can only hope. Maybe someone at MS will see your post and that awesome idea.

:D

Top Arcade Titles (Full Versions)
1 Metal Slug 3 (+1)
2 Boogie Bunnies (debut)
3 Omega Five (-2)
4 TRON (-1)
5 UNO
6 Bomberman LIVE (-2)
7 TMNT 1989 Arcade
8 Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (-2)
9 Worms (-1)
10 Marble Blast Ultra

The above arcade list is based on full versions purchased.

This weeks XBLA chart (with added position changes). Metal Slug 3 appears to be selling very well, nearly a month old and it took first place.

No, I don't Ikaruga is going to put up those kinds of numbers. Shmups are niche, and Ikaruga is definitely not for everyone.

They just want Undertow to go viral. Free marketing. Gamers pushing games on gamers.

It's not exactly an XBLA game, but I bought it on there so I wanted to register my utter hatred and contempt for Psychonauts, which has a good premise, pretty good writing, and utter shit gameplay. I'm alone in a room with a boss, facing him, and hitting auto-lock spins me 180 away from him, so I can get shot in the back? Suck my cock, Double Fine, and the same to Yahtzee for convincing me to buy it.

<Okay that last part was blasphemy but still I'd like a refund for the bold-faced lies Yahtzee told in his review, even though I resisted the urge to put my controller throuh Tim Schafer's fucking brain, for calling this shit "somewhat dodgy gameplay elements." I've dodged spitballs that were better crafted.>

Which boss? I had zero issues when I finished my playthrough this week.

Yeah, Psychonauts has great writing and presentation, but the gameplay is generally not very fun. Especially not compared to really good 3D platformers like Sly or Ratchet and Clank. Tim Schafer should have made it like a traditional adventure game instead, I think the game would have worked a lot better that way. My favourite moments from the game are adventure-ish anyway.

I don't know if this was posted yet..

Rearmed Director joins the Bionic Commando Podcast

"Simon Viklund, the Director of Bionic Commando Rearmed, joins the podcast today to tell us all about this fantastic return to side-scrolling action. Everything you want to know about Rearmed is right here. The multi-talented Simon also makes all of us feel worthless in comparison, as he discusses the music in Bionic Commando, where he is the Sound Director."

Podcast here:

http://www.bioniccommando.com/au/podcasts/

Also, I've decided to start a blog about XBLA stuff since I'm always trying to follow it and get the latest info and other XBLA sites don't really do a great job of it.

so..

XBLAH!!

Any feedback would be great :)

No.

That's Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition (PC).

Stuff like that is a possibility for DC though.

Just had a quick look - looks pretty good. It didn't load for me first time though, I had to hit refresh, but it seems ok now. I'll take a bigger gander at it later when I get home.

The more XBLA sites, the better if you ask me!

Like the layout, nice and clean. Also the header is fantastic, did you create it yourself?

Also, if you don't mind, what specifically were your complaints of the other XBLA sites?

I like it!

I like the big easy to read text, though tbh I think the titles of each news item should be in bold to stick out more, so when I scroll down, same-day news items are easier to distinguish (you'd think I'd be able to distinguish them from the big fat pics). But that's just me Rlan, don't take my opinion as gospel, just note it to see if anyone thinks the same.

But here's an example: http://stevedunns.blogspot.com/ I can scroll down quickly and pick out the headlines very fast.

Again though, I appreciate it and once I get home it's gonna be an exclusive bookmark. Thanks!

Good stuff. Up to date, nice art, clean layout.

Thumbs up.

I made the header via Photoshopping the 'arcade' writing into a bunch of other crazy letters X = 2 C's, B = crazy mixes of corners from a and e and so forth.

I like XBLarcade, it's just some stuff like the OFLC classification updates and whatnot don't tend to get mentioned anywhere other than here. Plus I want to start writing up some "What needs to be on XBLA" kind of articles, or mentioning what reviews are out for certain games on IGN, Teamxbox, Gamespot etc.

Makes sense, although looking into XBLA reviews is truly looking into the crotch of madness!

How anyone can take them seriously is completely beyond me, just about every single site that does it has absolutely no concept of consitancy

Well, I disagree with your assessment about XBLA sites, having another source to add to the collection is always nice.

That brain-in-a-tank [yeah, I didn't make it very far]. Even when it would lean back to expose its weak point, and I wasn't that far away, I'd use L-Trigger to lock and my character would flip around to face away from him. Then he'd run over me from behind. It happened repeatedly--I'd be the same general distance from him, and hitting L-Trigger would spin me backwards or to the left. I would have to try over and over, finally get a lock, and then hold it while waiting for his weak spot to show up again. The same problem happened in other stages, but not to that extent.

I respect what they were trying for, I really do, but in my opinion the game is unplayable.

800 point refund.

(I haven't done it, but that's what they're supposed to do)

We have known for a week that owners of Undertow will be getting a 800 point refund.

It seems that your mileage may vary, though. Some people get connected to a support rep that just pops the points in immediately, while others have to do the whole run-around with talking with supervisors and being put on hold for 20 minutes only to finally hear that the support crew has never heard of anything like that.
