So my Archos Gmini 400 arrived today and I can safetly say, it is the sex.

The features:

• Play MP3, WMA, and WAV music files and record in stereo
• Store up to 300 hours* of music
• View album cover art on color LCD
• Transfer and store up to 200,000* JPEG images using built-in CompactFlash™ reader
• View photos on color LCD or TV
• Store and watch up to 80 hours* of videos and movies on color LCD or on a TV
• Play games

More info at: http://www.archos.com/products/overview/gmini_400.html

I can't believe they managed to fit all this into something so tiny, I was expecting it to be a lot bigger from the pictures on the website. Here's some (crappy) pictures I took of its size.

Sure the PSP is coming out relatively soon but for me this seems like a better option for a non-gaming (well, it can play Mophun games, but I'm not interested in them) pocket media player. 20GB of space, good battery life, discreet size (unlike the PSP which I fear will cry out "MUG ME PLEASE" as soon as I took it out my pocket) and TV out options. All for the same price as a 20GB model iPod, in the UK anyway.

Thank you so much Cockles for recommending it. *salutes*

Glad you like it. Tis neat isn't it?

:D

I arrived early for an appointment this morning and watched Star Wars in the lobby while I was waiting. Can't argue with that. :D

Too big to be an mp3 player. Looks cool though.

Eh? It's the same size if not smaller than an iPod?!

Tis very neat indeed. Good call on watching Star Wars, I think I shall be watching some South Park episodes while I wait to go into my exam on Friday - screw last minute cramming! :D

Whats the res of the LCD? Thats seems the only downer compared to PSP, but after juggling with a 512MB memory stick, that 20GB is screaming out to me.

Assuming MPEG4, you'd probably only get about 40 hours on it at TV-able quality.

Did I just say 'only'?

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.

You must've added that after the fact as I read that sh!t like 8 times and never saw any mention of video.
