(OH SHIZNITS) Devil May Cry 4 confirmed multiplatform PS3/360/PC

AS pointed out elsewhere - the PS3 didn't really lose anything - DMC4 is still going to be as awesome as it would be on the PS3 but the panic this has caused is incredible

Would you like to restate that? but seriously the PS3 might not have lost a title, but its going to loose a bunch of potential buyers if this is going to be the trend.

If anything I could imagine a bunch of hardcore gamers right now are starting to question their $500-600 investment. Not only that, but I could see developers and industry watchers now placing alot of doubt on the PS3 and its potential for successful if things like this continue.

Right now I can only say I feel bad for both the PS3 and Sony. This when you consider the fact the PS3 of all 3 consoles is superior technology[not even you Nintendo or MS fanboys can deny it], but the incentives to have it is being removed one by one.

I wouldn't be suprised if this was an opportunity for Capcom to finally have retribution against Sony...this when you consider the fact I've heard stories from many sources regarding how elements within Capcom by majority(and I'm not talking about Mikami) who weren't really friendly with Sony other than supporting the PS1 and PS2 from a business POV because they were on the top,

Overall I would personally love to hear Capcom's "real" statement about this seeing how it got to be more than "profits" which drove them to this.

It's more of an image thing. DMC is one of the most famous series of last generation and having DMC exclusively on your system gives customers more confidence in it. If sales alone were all that matter then Sony wouldn't be making another R&C since only the first R&C sold more than a million copies and MS wouldn't spend money on their RPGS since they probably won't make enough money from them.

DMC3 (and the SE) did around 1.6 million. That's pretty good for a non-fps, non sports game targetted to hardcore gamers. Which is a group of gamers that you really want on-board before anything else. (since they drive SW sales)

LO had a demo in Japan, though it was early and not well received.

I guess that's why I haven't heard much about it in a long time. :) People probably don't have very high hopes for it unless it shows drastic improvement at E3.

Didn't somebody from Capcom say they have now switched to using PC to start the development and migrate to the target platform at a later stage? So unless they get a huge amount of cash for staying exclusive, there's no reason why they shouldn't go multi-platform, PC included.

I think vista is part of the reason.. just more user friendly to the game developer, i feel we'll see more console games go to the pc vista platform soon

How very macabre, games I haven't played on systems I haven't owned before are coming to my Wii60, I knew I was a bad person for not owning such systems or such games, but now I no longer need to feel bad.

Onimusha 4 hasn't been announced or even discussed. Likewise, many consider Dawn of Dreams to be Onimusha 4 as well, and that's on the PS2.

Onimusha Dawn of Dreams isn't Onimusha 4.

The same way Resident Evil Outbreak isn't Resident Evil 5.

You never know what may happen, sony might snag up some titles too (read: Alan Wake, Mass Effect, Too Human), As we know, those games are not out and anything could happen these days. Its still funny to see that people think the ps3 will die because of this, as you know, its still coming out on ps3 too :) and yes i do own a 360 and its fine, just a little over-reacting as if the ps3 is teh doomed :D

All three of those titles are published by Microsoft... so they aren't going anywhere.

Have you played through it? It really contributes to the series' plot progression.
You don't need a number to be an official sequel ;)

Thanks, dude :)

Nothing greater like coming home from an exam that went well and skim through a classic GAF thread. This DMC thing is just the begin though

Tekken or MGS4 (less likely) I hope they go multi

hehe they will, both of them.

So, has the GAF goodwill towards the PS3 (due to LBP/Home announcement) just evaporated because of DMC4 going multi?

this is GAF man, every last Megaton is the most important in forming your opinion. Posting first, then thinking :p

Nope, but more like the PC is another market to tap and I know for a fact seeing how SEGA switched gears and now being agressive about publishing on the PC. In fact at the time when SEGA porting several of their chihiro/xbox titles to the PC, there were rumors of VF4 and PD: Orta making the jump to the PC..

They should have a field day at the 1upyours podcast.

The fact that a staple PLAYSTATION franchise that sold/shipped 7 million units IS FORCED TO go multi-platform just because the ps3 isn't selling, that's a problem. Having said that, it may or may not be MGS4, but other exclusives for PS3 are going to go multi as well.

the console's been out for a few months, whats wrong with you people :lol

anyway, didn't capcom announce earlier they were taking a multiplat stance this generation ?

Oh heeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllll yeah :D . I was hoping that DMC4 would come to 360, it saves me SO much money! DMC is one of my favorite games <3

I just bought the Devil May Cry 5th aniversary box set (And a PS2) about 2 weeks ago, I've been playing them for the first time ever and I absolutely love it! (Still on DMC 1)

I have Wii60 and needless to say I am ****ing ecstatic about this news, THANK YOU CAPCOM!!! :D

Now the only reasons for me to pick up a PS3 are MGS4 (Only a matter of time now) and FF13.

well its 32 pages, so pointless me even starting to read.

How well does DMC actually sell in the west? considering 360s don't sell in Japan, does this really matter in the overall scheme of things (outside of arbitrary signs of the apocalypse that forumites have defined)?

oh, and since when have any Japanese console games made it to the PC without being completely screwed over?

Right before the European PS3 launch too. Ouch!

Capcom sure know how to time their announcements.

That's the thing - it just a bit too much to be a mere coincidence. And then also the news about Ace Combat.

See? This is why the first months of sales matter. Once the snowball starts rolling it's very hard to stop.

yes, because Capcom began port/deving the game only a few months ago. Yup.

oo ic, thanks for clearing that up, i knew it was developed by remedy/bioware etc but didnt know it was published my M$ :P

Realistically speaking, titles like Alan Wake, Mass Effect and Gears of War can technically make the jump to the PS3 at later date and i'll explain why....

1) Even though Alan Wake, Gears and Mass Effect is being published by Microsoft, Remedy, Epic and Bioware are still technically 3rd-party developers and 2) Microsoft doesn't own the rights/IP to either..essentially this mean Remedy, Bioware and Epic can do whatever they want, including porting them to another platform in the future whenever said contractual duty expire. All they'll have to do is either self-publish or find another publisher to handle it for them.

Now before any of you act as though I don't know what I'm talking about, this has happen before and I'll give you 2 examples...Toshinden and Wipeout(before Sony bought pygnosis).

Technically speaking Takara own the rights to Toshinden, however Sony published it initially for the PSX, but later it was ported to the Saturn and arcade[Toshinden Remix]. As for Wipeout..long before Sony bought Pygnosis, Sony published the Wipeout games, but also there were N64 and Saturn versions. It wasn't until Sony totally bought Pygnosis and renamed them into SCEE Liverpool that wipeout became totally exclusive to the PS-platforms.

With that said if I was Microsoft, I would be more worried about Bioware, Remedy and Epic having PS3 versions in the wing ready to go after their obligation expire.

Sure these devs might deny the fact there are PS3 versions, but I wouldn't put it pass them to take advantage of that one loop-hole and and see them on the PS3. This is the very reason why I have hope that Kingdom UnderFire: Circle of Doom will end up on the PS3 at some point...

Good luck with that. It would hold true if the devs put in all the money to develop the games. But the fact is, they didn`t.

The devs could be using Microsofts money so they'll be ports later......like I said, its only a matter of time after their respective release before Microsoft is screwed over by these devs because of that loop-hole...

it was only a metter of time. Not long till MGS joins X360 library, which is the only one that matters to me.

VF5 and DMC = cool, but im not interested
