(OH SHIZNITS) Devil May Cry 4 confirmed multiplatform PS3/360/PC

This is probably the fastest growing thread on NeoGAF ever. Even bigger than the DQ9 and VF5 threads. 33 pages... I said WOW again!

Because the surest way to get MS to fund future projects is to screw them over. Right.

lol...what? MS probably has the best lawyers out there, considering how busy they are with all the lawsuits ;)

This thread had the advantage over DQ9 one, you know. It was some time into the DQ9 thread before the bomb actually dropped. In here? It opened with the megaton.

Ah, finally the TGS trailer in good quality.

Although, the footage seems kind of dark, no?
It's straight from the playstation store, no reencoding.
I can reencode it with more brightness if you want.

I'm fine with it, considering I pretty much know how the demo looks through and through, but it does seem kind of dark. It's your call, whatever makes it a better download.

Capcom announced a few hours ago that Devil May Cry 4 would be released simultaneously on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC at the end of the year. And to celebrate this, Sony put online some new videos of the game on the japanese Playstation Store. Strange timing.

Blim made me laugh. lol

from memory the dq9 thread was worded similar to this one.

its not a big deal, if it was an exclusive for 360 that would be a big deal, now ill still get it on ps3, nice for the fans who get to play it on their 360 tho :)

Well best lawyers don't lose against tiny outfits like Intertrust or Real Networks -- two actions which have put a dent into Microsoft.

Seriously though even though these devs are keeping their end of the bargin, there are legal loop-holes and one MS cannot do thing about. Like I said, the very fact MS is funding these game pretty much made MS sign a deal with the devil(Bioware, Remedy and Epic) is going to see them get raped by these devs eventually.

i cant believe i was sleeping when this happened :lol :lol i missed the GAF meltdown.

WHO SAID THIS WAS NOT HAPPENING!?? its capcom for god's sake!

wooooo another reason for a 360 when the price drops :D

You still didn´t explain WHY these developers would do such.
Why put a it-prints-money-business-relationship in jeopardy, just to port some games to a platform with a lousy user base? Makes no financial sense whatsoever.

I don't have time to go through the whole thread from the start but did we have any nice spins earlier there? Like "DMC is no MGS, you can keep it a$$holes!"

If anyone has some extra time, please make a top 5 or at least top 3 list from top spins. Thanks. :)

it was only a metter of time. Not long till MGS joins X360 library, which is the only one that matters to me.

VF5 and DMC = cool, but im not interested

Kojima is at the GO3 EXPO in Australia next friday... You want to put money on him announcing MGS4 for the 360? :D

Realistically speaking, titles like Alan Wake, Mass Effect and Gears of War can technically make the jump to the PS3 at later date and i'll explain why....

1) Even though Alan Wake, Gears and Mass Effect is being published by Microsoft, Remedy, Epic and Bioware are still technically 3rd-party developers and 2) Microsoft doesn't own the rights/IP to either..essentially this mean Remedy, Bioware and Epic can do whatever they want, including porting them to another platform in the future whenever said contractual duty expire. All they'll have to do is either self-publish or find another publisher to handle it for them.

Now before any of you act as though I don't know what I'm talking about, this has happen before and I'll give you 2 examples...Toshinden and Wipeout(before Sony bought pygnosis).

Technically speaking Takara own the rights to Toshinden, however Sony published it initially for the PSX, but later it was ported to the Saturn and arcade[Toshinden Remix]. As for Wipeout..long before Sony bought Pygnosis, Sony published the Wipeout games, but also there were N64 and Saturn versions. It wasn't until Sony totally bought Pygnosis and renamed them into SCEE Liverpool that wipeout became totally exclusive to the PS-platforms.

With that said if I was Microsoft, I would be more worried about Bioware, Remedy and Epic having PS3 versions in the wing ready to go after their obligation expire.

Sure these devs might deny the fact there are PS3 versions, but I wouldn't put it pass them to take advantage of that one loop-hole and and see them on the PS3. This is the very reason why I have hope that Kingdom UnderFire: Circle of Doom will end up on the PS3 at some point...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding of the relationship, at least with GoW, is that MS owns the IP. It would make sense for them to do so, since then they can have more first party franchises.

just got up... saw this. can't wait to read the insanity.

still the question arguably is 'what will be next?'

and i'm not excluding 360 > PS3 from that.

It really isn't suprising at all, their Framework engine is a multiplatform engine all along (X360/PC/PS3). In fact it started out as a X360/PC engine, the PS3 version was added later on.

As soon as Hideo Kojima gets off the damn drugs and announces an Xbox 360 version of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, then that's the final confirmation I'll need to avoid the PlayStation 3 forever. (I don't really care about Final Fantasy XIII, I think it looks like uninteresting shit.)

Well I'll get the 360 version then, better controller (rumble) and custom soundtracks.

...and this is exactly why I will be buying all my 3rd party multiplatform games on the 360. Sony just keeps taking the hits....and big ones too.

Here's a few funny posts all from the same guy:

Bull****, where is the PS3 love? Capcom is now like Ubisoft to me "Pure Crap"

Aeon712 said:
Any chance of DMC being good on the PS3 is gone now that will be gimped down to 360 standards. Good thing I don't buy Capcom games.

Aeon712 said:
The new Ratchet and Clank looks better anyways.

Aeon712 said:
It will prob be the 360 version since Capcom will take the easy way out by not building tha game around the Cell.

I know it's probably been said 300 times, (or more), but if MGS4 and FFXIII are announced for 360 at any point and time in the next 9 months, I really don't see myself ever picking up a PS3.. unless it's $150 and I have a wad of cash burning a hole in my pocket. Even if they aren't announced it will still take at least two price drops at this point for me to be interested. 360 is getting way too many previous exclusives for me to commit $600 or even $500 to the system.

Nope, Epic Games does indeed own Gears of War, but I wouldn't count on it appearing on the PS3 anytime soon either. Copyright notices are your friend.

Microsoft doesn't own the GOW IP and this is the trademark to prove it...

anyhow the only reason I could see Epic allowing Microsoft to publish it...the marketing money and distribution just like how Id and Valve depend on Activision and EA for the very same thing.

right now its only a matter of time before Epic take the money they've made from GOW and split, taking GOW along with them to possibily other platforms.

From my understanding Epics owns the Gears of War IP, but Microsoft is the exclusive publisher since they front the money. So that means, they are locked into a relationship that is controlled by Microsoft in terms of distribution. At the end of the day, that means MS will only distribute on the PC and XBOX360.

I don't see that happening, Microsoft seems to have a lot invested in Gears of War despite not owning it and they would be fools to have it just end up on the PS3.
