Oh snap! GameVideos.com is LIVE!

Look alright so far.

It has a long ways to go before it can be compared to GameTrailers.com. User submitted content = Awesome. The site has a lot of potential. At least they got it up before E3.

Edit: :lol @ Mario Opera. I just noticed the Beta Sign on the logo.

Looks good. Between this and GameTrailers, and how GameSpot's price went up, I think I'm going to drop my GS sub. I had it almost exclusively for fast/high quality videos (and the EBGames discount, which is now also gone). Now that there seem to be very good free alternatives, it's a waste of money.

Little did I know New Super Mario Bros GDC would be rated M material. "Shit, man. Fuck. Fuck!"

I like the interface. Now bring on the content.

Hopefully the HD media is not re-encoded to 640x360, like 1UP does with the 1280x720 screens.

Because that's the most annoying thing about their bloated website.

Yep, it's Beta--lots of things still to tweak, add or fix, still... The flash player has a bunch of things needed, stretching 16:9 videos, etc. etc. The audio at the start is one thing we're already talking about.

It should be improving quite a bit over the next few weeks especially while it's in beta, but lemme know what you think, here or email feedback@gamevideos.com

Damn it looks like Gamevideos has all the bases covered (speedrun videos? win.)

I'm curious to see what the gaming community and 1UP video prod. crew will come up with too.

Early impressions: Unwanted audio in a website = NO.

Quote for mother fucking truth.

The site's GUI is shit, IMO and it isn't as easy and intuitive to navigate as GameTrailers. I'm sticking to GameTrailers.com for now.

Hmm white text on dark background with bright yellow links, that was a very popular color scmeme on geocities home pages in the late 90's.

Looks like it went live -- maybe yesterday? Today?

No pr0n, but otherwise two thumbs up! Lookin' good so far.

http://www.gamevideos.com
I dunno why, but the thread title and the pr0n comment made this come off a bit fake (like an advertisement) to us rather than a small aside that the website launched...guess it rubbed me the wrong way.

Anyways, I know u've been working on this a long time, John, hope for the best with this (I've actually been using GameTab a good amount lately...but it still doesn't replace GAF lol)

QFT (again)...

Lots of potential, could turn out to be a great resource. The actual player GUI is kinda fugly (and the orange help text is really hard to read), but it's functional. It feels a little strange that you can only view 6 search results at a time. Otherwise, so far so good. I'll be checking it regularily :).

Actually I have nothing to do with this site. :)

Uh, yeah. Ricciardi doesn't work on gamevideos.com, but I can see why he's pimping it.

Cuz it rocks, newgrounds colors or not.

My bad, i was thinking John Davison (dont know all the the 1up editors GAF usernames completely yet lol)

A bit OT, but reading here that Gamespot Complete went up in price coupled with the fact that I realized I never even use it anymore, I've decided to cancel my membership. However, I can't seem to find the option to do so on the site. Any help?

It's like being in the mafia. Once you're in, you're never getting out. :D

It's been QFT'ed several times already, but needs to be stated again. It's a pretty basic guideline to not have music play automatically, particularly if it is loud and annoying. K.I.S.S. is a good guideline. If the music isn't bringing anything to the party, don't put it there.

Thankfully it looks like 1up.com's designers have learned from the horrible 1up design. This one doesn't have as much images or flash as 1up does, and it actually operates quite decently. 1up.com on the other hand just chugs along. It badly needs a redesign or at the very least some option to disable the flash or graphics or whatever else is causing the website to run at a crawl.

edit: I didn't notice the music since I'm at a public terminal with no sound. If this site has background music these ziff davis web designers really are clueless.

That's what my Geocities site used :-(

Gametrailers is the place to go for trailers. But for hand-cam vids, speedruns, and just general gameplay footage it's not the place to go. This seems like it could be a one stop site for everything besides trailers (since the quality is lower than at gametrailers).

Any recommended capture card / TV tuner (lag-free / no delay)
for video game footage and screenshots?

So far there's "Leadtek WinFast TV USB II Deluxe" that seems to be fit.

Well it's part of the EGM network, so they already have the 1up show OH YEAH I WENT THERE :|

OH NO, YOU DIDN'T!

I just discovered the ads section. The MGS3 Salaryman commercial is ridiculous. :lol

Does anyone know if the 1up points system is integrated with GameVideos?

QFT.

It's a video game trailer website.

Not club med, no need to be hip or cool with load up music. Enough of that dumbshit on myspace.

The intro sounds is already on the chopping block. May take a bit to happen, but it will.

1up isnt integrated yet but will be soon, in a bunch a ways.
