Oh yeah! A best of Capcom compilation!

Were captain commando and cadillacs & dinosaurs capcom games? If so, I'd like to see those. Also, there was this cool king arthur game where you could play arthur, lancelot and this other dude.. who was it by? damn, my coinop-fu has really degraded..

Parcival :)

Hope it turns out good, but it also might be just a rerelease of the Capcom Generation Collection that was released on PsOne, which contained 4-5 discs (4 in Europe, 5 in Japan). They might just collect them and release them on a single DVD.
Games on that collection was:
Ghosts 'N Goblins, Ghouls 'N Ghosts, and Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts.
1942, 1943, and 1943 Kai
Exed Exes, Pirate Ship Higemaru, Son Son, and Vulgus
Commando, MERCs, and Gunsmoke
Street Fighter II, Street Fighter II Dash, Street Fighter II Dash Turbo.

has anyone heard some more news about the Taito Collection that is to be released?

Capcom already has working PS1 and CPS2 emulators running on all 3 consoles (thanks to MMAC). Given that, I'm guessing it'll either be the first 4 discs of the PS1 Capcom Generations or a huge collection of CPS/CPS2 games (as CPS2 is backwards compatible). And no doubt, it'll release across all viable platforms (maybe even PSP).

If he did, he failed miserably, the last two screenshots are both of the arcade version... (hint: take a look at the score display on those two screens and compare them with the one on the back of the SFC box - plus, IIRC, the SNES/SFC version was 1P only, compared to the 2P simultaneous play on the arcade version)

Holy shit, you're right!

Whatever the case with the shots, I also prefer the SNES game.

Two, Shadow Over Mystara and Tower of Doom. I would KILL to get a hold of those. I must have dumped hundreds of dollars worth of quarters into that game over the years.

mee too. for playing on saturn you need a ram card and the games are horribly expensive. bring it on ps2!

Don't expect any game holding any sort of license (extra costs), being co-developed (exrta costs/negociation)or being a MegaMan/Street Fighter/Darkstalkers game (already in MMAC, SFAC, DS Chronicle) being included. For CPS/CPS2 stuff that means...

Doubt they'll release a compilation with 'many' titles in it.
They did release Capcom Generations collections on psx and saturn, and they consisted in 3, 4 titles each, miserably lacking stuff (eg- 1942 collection only included 1942, 1943, 1943 kay but completely forgot to include 1941, 1944, 194xx etc). They are just too lazy and they always hope they can milk their series some more.
This, and the filters they use to stretch low res graphics to fill the screen in 640x480 mode always sucks (see SF anniversary for Xbox, see SF3 2nd and 3rd strike for DS) compared to advancedmame for example.
I'll stick to mame, Finalburn and my modded xbox :P

:(

No D&D, no U.N. Squadron... only a perfect port of Final Fight has a chance of putting this back on my radar.

Well, I'm not entirely sure that Darkstalkers and early Street Fighter/Alpha games won't show up, as SF Anniversary and Chronicle aren't exactly collections of old games per se.

Yep... here's the CPS/CPS2 games I'd consider open game...

-1941: Counter Attack
-19XX : The War Against Destiny
-Armored Warriors
-Battle Circuit
-Capcom Sports Club
-Capcom World 2
-Captain Commando
-Carrier Air Wing
-Cyberbots : Fullmetal Madness
-Eco Fighters
-Final Fight
-Forgotten Worlds
-Ghouls'n Ghosts
-Knights of the Round
-Magic Sword: Heroic Fantasy
-Mega Twins
-Mercs
-Pocket Fighter
-Quiz Nanairo Dreams: Nijiirotyou no Kiseki
-Quiz Tonosama no Yabou 2: Zenkoku-ban
-Saturday Night Slam Masters
-Slam Masters II: Ring of Destruction
-Strider
-Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo
-Tenchi wo Kurau
-The King of Dragons
-Three Wonders
-Varth: Operation Thunderstorm

...though not UN Squadron, as it's based of an anime license. Still, those games could make a pretty excellent collection, I could actually see the original SF2 thrown in too.

[IRK]Every time this thread is bumped I anxiously click on it in the hopes of seeing some kind of official list! Damn you all![/IRK]

"UN Squadron" is "Area 88" in Japan, and is based off a manga

Well, just to dash Mr_Furious' hopes, I think this would make a kick ass compilation...

-1941: Counter Attack
-19XX: The War Against Destiny
-Armored Warriors
-Captain Commando
-Carrier Air Wing
-Cyberbots : Fullmetal Madness
-Eco Fighters
-Final Fight
-Forgotten Worlds
-Ghouls'n Ghosts
-Mega Twins
-Mercs
-Pocket Fighter
-Saturday Night Slam Masters
-Street Fighter II: The World Warrior
-Strider
-Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo
-The King of Dragons
-Varth: Operation Thunderstorm

...some offbeat stuff, some classics and lots of variety. Mostly early 90s stuff too, though a few later games too (Pocket Fighter, Cyberbots, Puzzle Fighter, 19XX, etc).

I wouldn't mind playing an arcade perfect version of this "downlow" NES classic:
Legendary_Wings_boxfront.jpg

Why exactly would Street Fighter ALPHA 1-3 be excluded? the last release from that series was the GBA port near the systems launch. Easily fair game by now.

I'd actually take that if only because stage 3 had awesome music. Oh and Ken is all cyborg and shit (Ryu is the OOZE)

whoo hoo MegaCD Final Fight CD back cover

Capcom should include FFCD and Arcade Final Fight in the new compilation. just to have the best of both games. cinema screens, music, bonus game of FFCD. the graphics and amount of gang members on-screen at once in arcade.

How could the any version of Final Fight be more accurate than the Sega-CD version and not be arcade perfect? Aside from the music, I thought it was spot on.

there just enough room to squeeze inbetween SegaCD FF and Arcade FF.

while Sega-CD Final Fight was much better than the SNES version (except in color), FFCD was not really close to perfect. there are only 4 enemies on screen at once whereas the arcade had 6-8 enemies at once. the backgrounds are still somewhat downgraded from the arcade, although they're better than SNES. the X68000 is a pixel for pixel carbon copy as far as graphics and the only thing that prevents it from being perfect is that there are less enemies on screen (4-5) like the SegaCD version. but the graphics are much more exact on X68000. color & backgrounds, resolution, etc.

SNES FF was like 65%. SegaCD version is 85-90% and the X68000 is like 98%

MegaCD~SegaCD FFCD gets owned pretty badly, graphically, by Coin-Op & X68000 FF

look at the detail missing, not just color, from FFCD in the wood railings on the sides of subway stairs. okay well at least in FFCD the wood is there, unlike on SNES FF, SFC FF/FFG, GBA FFO.

It's too bad FFOne was based of the SNES version. GBA should've been capable of a 100% CPS conversion.... but at least they added Zero Guy and Cody.

well I agree, but probably in a way that you are not thinking of. yes the GBA hardware should have been as good as if not better than, the 1988 CPS. but it's not, in many areas. therefore, a perfect CPS port is impossible. CPS can do 256 sprites and paint 2048 or 4096 colors on-sceen, at 384x224. GBA can't do that-it's got 128 sprites and 256~512 colors on a lower res screen. even if GBA could handle more colors, the CPS could go above its higher limit as well. CPS probably has more memory than GBA also.

FFone is a very beefed up SNES/SFC version. they added most of the stuff cut from the SNES/SFC conversion. but the graphics are still based on SNES. with that said, the GBA that exists could have handled a *closer* conversion of FF than it got.

*waits for PSP Capcom Compilation* ^__^

I've always wondered this myself. I thought for sure they'd add him to Marvel VS Capcom 2 or Capcom Fighting Evolution, but alas.

Outside the overall resolution and maybe audio, GBA could've handled CPS Final Fight pretty easily I think. Really, GBA lacking a dedicated sound chip is what holds the system back overall, if Nintendo had allowed the GBC Z80 to be used as a subprocessor in GBA mode, the system could probably handle most any 2D 16bit arcade hardware conversions. The custom ARM7 itself outclasses anything in CPS/CPS2, NeoGeo or System 16/18/24/32.
