People have a tendency to not give a shit unless they experience something firsthand. Hence the person you quoted wanted the issue to get more attention on various media to spread further awareness of it. People have bubbles and find it rude to pop them.

Please do tell me of your own prostitution experiences. The media has basically only 2 classes of prostitution it recognizes, High end "Belle de Jour", "Breakfast at Tiffanys" or the Drug addict $5 hooker with mean pimp, who of of recent times has been replaced in the public conscious with the "Trafficked" woman. Both these narrative totally ignore the major middle ground and the biggest group, the consenting independent ladies who do it because it pays well and they have the perspective to live that life. But no sensationalism there for the media for clicks,and so it's totally ignored for being off message.

If your are paid for your time as a companion, you are an escort.

But not all escorts are prostitutes. A prostitute is paid for for his/her time and sexual favours during that time.

It's not that confusing. Just before money changes hands, know what you are buying.
 
I think most men would expect sex when they pay hundreds of dollars for a date. Women who use the app should be very clear from the get go if they really just want to go on a date to avoid confusion.

When officers part of human trafficking investigations groups at the city and state level go to training exercises, briefings, and conferences with the FBI, they are told that somewhere between 70-90% of all women in prostitution have somebody behind them pushing them to do it. In other words, 70-90% of all prostitutes are trafficked.

In some areas it is far less, but at the national level that is what the FBI says is true. And I'm inclined to believe them.
