On my Windows XP logon screen, when I try to type in my logon name, all the keyboard puts out are those little square 'garbage characters' when I press any of the letter keys, but the number keys work fine, I have tried everything including going into safe mode, changing the language, changing the keyboard but nothing works. What is causing this?

You have restarted since changing keyboards, correct?
