snapty00 said:Viewtiful Joe? Hahaha. Yeah, the game looks neat for all of ten minutes I guess, but it doesn't belong in any top-anything graphics lists.
I also don't think Wind Waker should be up there, though. The entire game wasn't even cel-shaded. The characters looked neat, but most of the environments were simply low-polygonal structures with crappy textures, giving it somewhat of a cartoon look to some people. To me, it just looked like what it was: crappy models with crappy textures, with cel-shaded characters.
Shin Johnpv said:if you have a good set up for the controls facial animation isn't too bad to do by hand and if it's being done by a decent animator it looks LIGHT YEARS better than Mo-cap
I hate facial mo-cap animation, it never seems to really synch up right and it always feels so lifeless and dead
The Abominable Snowman said:Why shouldn't PoP be there? I'd definitely place it and Soul Calibur II On the list. It just seems that a lot of you want GC exclusives up there, though...

I forgot how it looked, that was really, really beautiful.IGN has forgotten how REmake looked.
Actually, so have I. I've been replaying it today, and I'm scared shitless. :lolEl_Victor said:I forgot how it looked, that was really, really beautiful.![]()

I loved this game (damn hard) but the graphics were awful. AWFUL. Only two tracks worth mentioning GFX-wise - Big Blue and The Green Plant (?, the one with all the trees), the rest is almost on PS1 level of visual complexity.
Art-wise the space track was pretty damn awesome.
Oh, the music was top-notch, especially pilot themes![]()

It had perfect water, too. It's amazing to me how many sequels fuck up the graphics of the first title.
RSII looks better than RSIII
MP looks better than MP2:E
Pikmin 1 looks better than Pikmin 2
I just love the perfect water in Pikmin. How it's not reflective up close, but the further away you go the more reflective it seems. Also, the way it reacted when it hit the shore was very nice looking. I need to go play Pikmin...

Amir0x said:Man, what are you talking about. Pikmin 2 looks fucking incredible, better than Pikmin 1. It's most apparent when you're looking through your little Beastiary/Item viewer thing, and there's one or two scenes when the light comes through properly and it's zoomed the right way that it looks like some of the most impressive visuals ever. It's just phenomenal. And the water also looks unbelievable in Pikmin 2, you freakin' nutter.
olimario said:You're right that Pikmin 2 has a lot more going for it. It does look better.
But the water in the first was ruined in the second. It doesn't have the awesome reflection or shore detection of the first.
Speevy said:The first Pikmin hurt my eyes. Nothing to do with bad graphics. It's just the game was *too* blurry. The second one was a feast for the eyes, in terms of creature design, level art direction, and animation. Pikmin most certainly DOES NOT look better than Pikmin 2.

Lesser textures, fewer things going on, and a generally smaller, less varied, less animated world.
Heh, first it was Zelda's grass, now it's pikmin's water. :lololimario said:You're right that Pikmin 2 has a lot more going for it. It does look better.

Krowley said:i think paper mario had too many visually boring areas. There were places where it was really impressive, but too many areas that where just bland..
also, i agree that Fzero GX definitly belongs. in still shots, it is obvious that it uses some graphical shortcuts, but the framerate and sense of speed help mask that and the overal effect combined with the art design make it one of the most visually impressive expieriences on current consoles.
