this game is goona be incredible. same studio as the VJ team, yeah? those guys have some serious talent IMO

That pic in the top-left corner is just BEAUTIFUL!!
This game is a visual masterpiece, judging from what I've seen so far.

I'm more excited to see what inventive dev teams can do with visual styles/shading next gen than I am to see how many billions of super sweet polygons they can push.

...

I don't know if some of you saw the video that Capcom did for TGS, but it was absolutely awesome and it looks it keep its way. It's one of the most beautiful games I know.

Yeah, the TGS video was absolutely gorgeous. The way the sun god was running around and adding color to everyplace it visited. Absolutely stunning. Please, please come to NA.

oh. well we've known about this game for awhile now, wouldn't they have said if it was leaving japan by now or not? i mean capcom anounce all their other titles that way pretty quickly. dont they?

well, i want it to come. otherwise i cant enjoy it due to the language barrier

Apparently they've changed a lot of the game since the last video we saw, but we had no idea about how it played back then so no big deal, I guess. Still looks nice, hope it gets released soon.

Absolutely amazing. I love the animations and the colors. This and Wanda are my most anticipated games this year.

this is the epitome of videogames as ART, hopefully they didn't end up spending too much ont he development because this sucker needs to break even at 100k

the first time I saw Sumi brush strokes in a game was Mojib Ribbon, that looked great for what it was, I wonder if there was some degree of shared tech here...

If RE2, RE4, Onimusha and DMC1 were any indication at all... Capcom + large change during production = GREAT. :D

I am with Drohne when he said he feared it will become some kind of Zelda. Let's hope it's a lot action-oriented.
Graphically it couldn't look better !

fingers crossed this one turns out as good as it looks

No need to worry.

The lead designer/game director of Okami is Hideki Kamiya.

Who's previous directorial/lead game designer projects were:
Resident Evil 2 (1998)
Devil May Cry 1 (2001)
Viewtiful Joe 1 (2003)
And now he's working on Okami.

He hasn't worked on that many games, but the ones he does are damn good.

I don't think we have to worry. Which is good because I'm sick and tired of people saying "god of button mash" is a visual masterpiece. Just because the game has titties....>_>

Don't you have to spread colors throughout the land in the game? I wonder if it'll be all in realtime during gameplay or maybe after you just beat a level, there will be a cut scene showing the land induced with colors.

This couldn't be farther from the truth. God of War looks gorgeous because of the excellent job the art department did. Not what you mentioned. There are many sequences throughout the game that are absolutely breath-taking. The way the camera sweeps back revealing this absolutely gorgeous piece of architecture is what makes people say it is a visual masterpiece.

The art direction and execution is breathtaking in this game. It fully captures the look and spirit of brush painting. So far based on the screens that are shown, this game is set to become a visual feast. More developers should take this as an example when they utilize culturally/artistically specific art directions.
