huh?I moved away from physical games/movies because discs are simply too fragile.
If we got something new, that could:
-read as fast/faster than an SSD;
-was not prone to breaking and;
-was easily inserted.
I know I would be tempted to go back, would you?
If speed is actually required you will always use an install procedure, an SSD which meets the requirements, which costs currently anyway very much, but will always be cheaper than using anything on a per game basis. Speed depends solely on the medium where it is installed and we have abandoned the carrier medium a while ago. Nintendo a bit later than the rest, but afaik Switch 1 already installed any game at least partially.
How do you break a disc? Plastic snaps at some point, sure, and it degrades, especially in sunlight, but the casing of any small SD card is as prone or probably more to breaking than a disc. Anything small(er) and light(er) gets more easily lost on top of that.
A disc is easily inserted? Easier than flimsy SD-cards, on par with good old floppy discs. Are you expecting some magnetic attachment and basically wireless data transmission?
