Old computer RPGs - what's good?

Might and Magic IX <-- 3D but it's great, haters are lying

That's probably the first positive comment I've ever read about MMIX. To be honest, I gave up on it without giving it a fair chance. (I couldn't get over the initial shock of not having the mini-map and Wizard Eye.) What did you find "great" about it?

No PC rpg thread is complete without mentioning Spiderweb Software, go download demos of the Geneforge games.

Ooh, reminds me of playing Eye of the Beholder back when I first got a PC.
What were the best of those style games?
I remember getting deep into the dungeon where there were these green insect-like things, and the walls were all green, but that was as far as I could get.
Eye of the Beholder 2 is the best in the series. If you want to play the first one get the Amiga version as it has a full end sequence, the PC version just gives you a line of text and drops out to DOS :( .

I believe that was EotB2 and you got owned by the Thri-Kreen.

World of Xeen was the last great M&M, imho.

So do I.

Shame for you that MoH is as wrong AND sucky, then, eh? ;)
