Old? RE4 PS2 trailer

That song used for the trailer sounds like it was ripped from Metal Gear Solid...Anyway, that stuff at the end after the logo is new isn't it?

Well, it looks like a better port than the screens suggested. But the lighting and textures have taken an obvious hit. The character models look pretty much spot-on, IIRC, though.

Looks pretty good. I can't recall if the cutscenes thrown in at the end are new as the last time playing RE4 was all speedy and I ignored cutscenes. They seemed mostly very familiar though.

It look pretty good, I noticed some of the lighting is missing and some texture issue's but other than that its a pretty good port. I also noticed some different cutscenes aswell.

let's see here. the graphics look identical to the Cube version, runs very well. if you guys linked me to the trailer and said it was the gamecube version, i would have been fooled

new cutscenes
new areas (or maybe not, but there may be some added areas/rooms)

This is clearly the superior version. Cubers am cry. PS2 VERSION GET

Looks exactly the same to me. I don't know why it's so hard to believe anyway, high end geometry with low texture and image quality is PS2's specialty. :p

STFU.

Cube is the better version, this is a decent port, but not close enough, and I'm playing it NOW

THE SHOCK, I figured you were playing one of the other slick GC games released this year...oh wait.

maybe i'm not a graphics whore, but the trailer makes it look like the cube version. like I said, if you told me it was the Cube version and showed me that trailer, I would believe you. and I'm assume this game is gonna be sold at a discounted price like $40. PS2 owners win.

Guys, Wario has played it more than anyone....

Which makes me think he is on drugs. Hard, dangerous drugs.

A lot of that Ada footage (maybe all of it) was totally new. Maybe there's another Assignment Ada, or they just added cut-scenes to flesh her character out more.

There was definitely quite a bit of slowdown in that trailer. Besides that and "teh jaggies" it looks very close. Not sure if I'd buy it again for 30 secs. of extra cutscenes when it'll inevitably get ported to one of the next-gen consoles.

Being a Cube fanboy, I have to say it looks like you ps2 peeps are getting a pretty solid port judging by that trailer. Congrats. Prepare for one of the best games this gen and of all time. :)

So because you have low graphics expectations, we should all eat crow? That's bullshit. The game is CLEARLY inferior to the Cube version in terms of graphics and clarity. If that doesn't bother you and you feel the new extra stuff will balance it fine, great. But as far as RE4 looking as one of the best games in this generation goes, the PS2 version falls far behind.

Are graphics that important to the gameplay of RE4?

I am getting this game after I finish off MGS3. Can't be bothered to wait for the PS2 version.

yeah. Pretty solid port. If you held off buying RE4 for the PS2 version. Buy it. Buy it so I get my sequel

So much for XBOX RE4 though.

The importance of graphics in any game varies based on the person playing it. I'm just saying that it's bullshit to call RE4 PS2 the "superior version" based on a few new scenes in the trailer when graphically it clearly can't match up, has slowdown and will probably have much longer load times. Peace! :D

I haven't actually played RE on GC...but the graphics in the PS2 trailer don't look as nice as MGS3's.

Pretty much.

Anyway, PS2 owners, buy the shit out of it so we can have more RE goodness. Oh and if you own both systems, be objective and pick the one that looks better......

If you don't have a Cube, you need to buy this game. If you do and insist on buying this, you're either a RE fanatic or a fanboy.

Think I'll get it with my PS3 to play it again for extra content. Looks like a perfect port, I think some people here exagerate the lighting of the GC version.

From the low-res trailer, it still looks surprisingly good. There were like 2-3 scenes that looked noticeably worse though, but honestly I wouldn't know if that was the 'Cube or PS2 version.

well the new luis/ada stuff has sealed a rental/playthrough for me.

It would need new weapons, and new area in the main game for me to consider buying it again. Still a fantastic fucking game and I am glad a whole new segment of gamers will get to try it.

Looks like an amazingly good port! Obviously lighting and textures have taken a minimal hit, but otherwise I'm really impressed. Didn't think this was possible.

Sold!

Like most Capcom games, it looked shitty in screens but hawt in action. I was a little worried about how this game would turn out. But that trailer sold me. It looks close enough to the Cube version that the differenfe won't bother me while I'm playing.

I wonder what extras it has? And what was with Leon and that hands free headset he had on in one scene? I don't remember that in the Cube version...maybe it has just been awhile.

If someone said that trailer was for the GC version of RE4, no one would doubt it. Funny because when this was annouced no one (even me) could believe PS2 could replicate the graphics.

I just have to say WHO'S FUCKING RETARDED NOW?! HUH?! And the Winter release just gives them more time to polish the game...

and all you GC fanboys:

As always the screens don't do justice to Capcom games and RE4 PS2 seems a really good porting of the original version.

I'll just echo what others have said about this looking almost identical to the GC game juding by the video. I'm sure the actual game won't look as nice as the GC original, though.
