this is one of the 5 best cds i've ever heard. this is unbelievable. this thread will get 0 replies but i don't care. i can't decide if this or Lateralus is better. this is unreal.

listen to dredg if you have not.

It's honestly one of the top five CDs you've ever heard, and it just leaked? That's quite a statement.

it is. but it isn't pure hyperbole. all but 2 songs on the CD were out in either live or demo versions for around 6 months(and so were 2-3 songs that didn't make the album). so 90% of the material was already out there, and i've had plenty of time to digest it. i knew the album would be great months ago. the old tracks just weren't mastered, and no one knew what order the tracks would be in, or even which tracks would make the release, or what they would add to make it all flow.

so it's not like this is the first time i've heard all these songs =p

Well enlighten us... you mentioned Lateralus as its possible comparison. Seeing as how that is one of my personal all time records as well.. I'm curious for more info

well dredg's style is much more accessible than tool's. dredg is a bit on the experimental side of rock. a lot of different sounds and guitar effects, with godly vocals.

it's hard to describe. if you like good music, you'll like dredg. basically godly music accompanied by godly vocals. they sound so pure....again, it's hard to describe.

listen to bug eyes there. that is an indication of their sound.

man, you hyped atreyu so much..and they are like this cheesy metal band...dont know if i should trust you.

this is NOTHING like atreyu. atreyu sucks all kinds of shit compared to dredg. listen to them on myspace or use one of the links i posted. if you don't like those, then move on.

I'm really trying to shut up...all I'll say is that Dredg is one fucking fantastic band. Not giving impressions of the leak! Just saying the band rawks.

Besides, this album is so mine day one.

FUCK YES!

THis day cannot get any better for me! well maybe if i saw my gf and got laid but without that this had to be the best day ive had in a long ass time. And to get home from work and find the new dredg album within 15 mins of download time away from me. Good god.

Sadly the songs are alittle garbled in spots. But holy fuck the retail version is goign to be fucking bliss.

never mind found out it was my head phones that are peices of shit.

OH GOD, MATROSHKA IS AWESOME

the two tracks you posted are catchy and yes very tighly arranged and definitely melodious. i see the appeal. dont think its all that original or progressive though. in amazon there are floyd comparisons so i was curious as to what their sound was like.

i have listened to this 7 times already. pure bliss.

also, i changed the two sample tracks. so please, just give 'em a try :)

nightbreeze, what quality is the version you have? is it the 128 kbps version?

I have the 128 Kbps version, it sounds very good for that bitrate though! I never really got into dredg, downloaded a few tracks some years ago, but forgot about them. This new CD sounds awesome though, time to get to know them a little better!

(y) wow, a great album.

i dont know if its comparable to lateralus, Lat was overwhelming, Dredg arent pushing anything too far, but they have some hooks.

I've always been interested in these guys (for many years already) and I can't wait for this new album. They are along the same lines that of Codeseven (last album sucked though) and Cave In.

Eminem, you seem to have very similar musical taste to mine. I bet you'd like my band's music. This June we will be recording with producer Jeremy Staska.

Hey, I'm excited. :) June 21st is quite a ways away; thankfully these next few weeks are going to be pretty loaded in terms of great music. I hope Bug Eyes is a good indication of the rest of the CD, as it rocks.

Dredg cds are hard to get in Japan, but my desire for this cd knows no bounds.
oh, edit that man, edit quickly.

and this sounds remarkably like Kenna. If you haven't heard him, go now and get some.

As for Atreyu, they sound like Hoobastank with a little bit more screaming. :p

yea I have the 128 Kbps version. Is there a higher one floating around?

having only heard "Zebra Skin" so far, it's an uninformed opinion. :)

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay uninformed. Zebra Skin is nothing more than a mastered groove session the guys had and then turned into a song. The entire album is very, very awesome fucking rock. Kenna is pop and r&b; two opposite sides of the spectrum.

pop I can see, but R&B? I consider R. Kelly and K-Ci and Jo-Jo (is that right? it's been a few years) to be R&B, not Kenna.

Rhythmn and blues = R&B. R&B isn't limited to a certain kind of singing.

yeah, there is a 192 version out there. it's a totally different rip, not just some joker re-encoding the 128s to 192s

well tuesday night i saw them in milwaukee. last night i saw them in belgium illinois.

the entire belgium show was taped by one of my freinds. came out REALLY nice.

i talked to drew a good twenty minutes both days. such a nice, nice guy. the entire band is, actually. all very humble. i mean, both shows the band members were walking around talking to people while the opening bands were playing. how cool is that.

dredg is the best live band ever. no question.
as far as belgium last night....

i wonder if i'll ever be able to see dredg at so intimate of a show again. couldn't have been more than 60 people or so at the place. the "stage" was a 4 inch elevated square.
Gavin told the fans to come on the stage with him. So basically the entire crowd was on stage with the band, surrounding them. The people like me that were fortunate enough to be in the front part of the stage were literally inches away from the band. People's elbows were literally bumping into Gavin's slide guitars.

It was amazing.

Also of note: When Dredg comes back in August, Drew said they "hope" to headline. they also will be playing 500-1000 person venues.

dino's sticks, gavin's pick, venue poster, gavin's water bottle, setlist....i got it all. best two days ever.

I didn't look at this thread the first time, because going by their name, I thought they were a shitty metal band like Atreyu (considering you seemed to be very into them lately). I like most of the other bands you like though going by your posts, so I decided to listen to those two tracks you posted in this thread. They are awesome. Thank you Eminem.

Edmonton's milkshake attracts no boys.
Been listening to that matroshka song posted on this thread for awhile now. It's good listening, but I get a very U2 ripoff vibe from it.

Eminem

goddamit, Griese!
yeah, people have said that. that is the ONLY song they've ever done like that. it's not like anything else they've ever done, which is kind of why i posted that along with Hungover on a Tuesday.
Hungover is much, much more their style. Matroshka just serves as a beautiful outro to their newest CD.
