Bioshock: Infinite
I know its probably early but......

Has anyone mentioned Titanfall. Cos that's definitely fallen off a cliff.

Hey has anybody said Titanfall yet? If not, then Titanfall.
Bioshock: Infinite
Multi-million seller with tons of media coverage, heaps of praise, hate, controversy, and GOTY awards = Totally forgotten
Jesus Christ, people. I really dislike BSI but it's ridiculous to say that it was "totally forgotten." If anything it'll be remembered for killing Irrational in spite of its success.
Can we have a separate "Smugly say that a popular game was bad/irrelevant so everyone will know you're super edgy and cool and play by your own rules" thread?
Star Wars the Old Republic and LOTR Online were hyped up for sure.
Was Age of Conan hyped up? Might just have been in the gaming press.
I've got all of you beat.
Global Operations.
Was supposed to dethrone Counter Strike and had decent magazine coverage.

before anyone chimes in: Mech Warrior is not the same game. MechAssault is a quick jump in/jump out mech shooter. This game was a cornerstone for the LIVE service when it launched. The sequel was meh and then MS just forgot about it.
Yet they are bringing back Phantom Dust......
Nox is so good! To this day it's still my favorite Diablo-style loot crawler.
For me, WAR:

I bought the hype and bought the game. But everyone I knew who did the same quit quickly.
Watch_Dogs
Titanfall
How has Titanfall been "forgotten" when it's still charting on NPD and will undoubtedly chart again in June?
Because salt. Same with Watch Dogs.
For two games that are supposedly "completely forgotten", there's an awful lot of talking going on about them...
Man, for anyone thinking of getting into the dev business, this thread may make you rethink your future. So much hard work put into so many forgotten titles. The gaming industry can be so cruel.
Watch Dogs broke Ubi's day one sales record and to date has sold 8 mil, so I don't see how that's classified as forgotten after the hype. Titanfall may not maintain a large following, but "completely forgotten"? When we know there is dlc and potentially a sequal? I mean I'm not hailing them as masterpieces, but that's not the point of the thread.
You are talking out of your ass. You have no idea what the Titanfall numbers are on XB1.
The PC version was unsurprisingly not that popular. No one who pays attention to this industry should have expected it to do well there. The only multiplayer games that are truly successful these days on PC are PC centric. They aimed at a specific audience. Ever notice how COD also doesn't do well on PC?
Just as it was before the launch of Titanfall, we've got a bunch of people here trying to write their own narrative around this game because it wasn't coming to the PS4. Before launch it was all about "manufactured hype", whatever that means, and after launch it was all about "lol no one cares anymore", with the people saying that conveniently ignoring the cyclical cycle almost all games have amongst the hardcore. Most games aren't being wildly discussed a month after launch, and there is still a very active community thread for Titanfall.
Just stop. Titanfall was a new IP that launched early in a console cycle, with a 4 million user base. With those things considered, it sold very well. It's continued to sell too. It's been on the NPD chart repeatedly. Any claims that it's this forgotten game just months after launching is a fake narrative being created be people trying to write their own story. It could just as easily be argued Infamous, which launched at nearly the same time is forgotten, which it is, but people aren't bothering to even say that, because people don't care. Titanfall will end up on more Top 10 lists this year than Infamous, and then we can hear the cries of media bias. It never ends with this game.
I think it speaks to the hazards of game development and all the ways in which things can go wrong. A lot of these titles were subject to multi-year delays and dramatic changes in direction part of the way through development, both of which can easily cause a game to miss whatever narrow window of opportunity might have let it make more of an impact.
I will never forget this game. Those guys had tiny heads and big ass shoulders.
Because salt. Same with Watch Dogs.

TF is pretty dead on Twitch though for a game that's supposed to be the next big hit title. No one seems to care to watch anyone play it.

The new Thief seems all but forgotten.

Maybe that's because people would rather play the game than watch people play the game?
It always amuses me when people bring up Twitch as a way to judge a game's popularity. Like "Look, no one's streaming or watching it so that must mean no one is playing it."
Really? That's a stretch and a half.
Maybe that's because people are too busy playing the game to watch people play the game?
