One month from today: BioShock Infinite

I like how Irrational Games official forum shamelessly copies almost everything i post.

You probably won't receive it until the night before.

I haven't been keeping up with GMG for Infinite, but that is how they generally operate.

Are you saying my statement is nonsense, or IGN's?

Yours. I have not read any impressions of the console versions' performance, at least not for the final version. Regardless of the performance of other games, I'd still like to hear for sure if these versions have any noticeable problems.

Guys. Do you remember Dishonored textures?

I dont pay attention to shit like that when Im playing, unless theyre so bad theyre screaming at you (Hello, RAGE). Dishonored's look/art style was like a muddy oil painting so if anything I just took everything as the way it was supposed to look anyway.

They can't fix severely outdated hardware no matter how much 'coding to the metal' is done.

Even games considered amazing for consoles like Uncharted series or Halo 4 have horrible textures and overall IQ.

I look at screenshots that people post and they look pretty poor.

I can;t speak for Halo, but Uncharted 2 looks far jaggier in screens than it does in motion for some reason. The textures are great as well.

Uncharted 3 is legit jaggy though, from recollection.

Yes we all want console impressions, but what he described is a console-wide issues.

Low framerate
Dips in framerate
low resolution, muddy textures

These cannot be attributed to one game, these are literally attributed to all console games.

The only thing that isn't nesecarily true for all console games is the framerate dips. This could be a potential issue.

I'd like to know how the framerate holds up in the Xbox version. If the console version was comparable to the PC version, I'd probably go Xbox for achievements. Any musings on console differences is welcome to me.

Which is less desirable: low-resolution (muddy) textures or high-resolution textures with constant "pop-in" inundating the player? Did anyone expect the textures to not have to be pared down for the consoles?

I was fine with my play-through of BioShock on the PS3 (post-patch). I doubt Infinite will fare worse.

Its not even going to be close for this one.

Did you see the video posted for the IGN PC differences section? Holy shit.

Game install on PC is like 20-30 gigs I believe, someone will verify the exact number. That usually indicates massive textures.

I'm pretty surprised how much marketing there has been so far. Take two is throwing their weight on this one.

Take Two is pretty good at stuff like marketing.
They had a huge campaign going on with Max Payne 3 but sadly it still bombed huge.

Bombed is an extremely relative term. They just needed to adjust their expectations and not expect it to sell as well as Rockstar's other offerings.

Sucks the 360 version doesn't look great, but kind of expected this many years into the generation. Hopefully it's not a complete mess.

Uncharted 1 & 2 are both 720P 2x MSAA. They should look the same and much better than most games which are often sub-720P and/or no AA. The only time a game can seem to have more aliasing is areas of high contrast.

When do steam preloads start?! I don't want to buy it until I can start downloading it.

IGN:

Yes, Columbia is stunning from a scale, scope, and art-direction perspective, but on a raw graphical level it is a bit underwhelming on the Xbox 360 version I’m starting with. Textures are muddy and low-resolution and the framerate takes regular slight-but-noticeable dips. It reminds me of the console version of Dishonored in that way.

Wonder how many cancelled pre orders will this lead to?

edit: Damn you Duke.
Fears confirmed.

It's no wonder why they have been showing PC version. :(

Times like this make me wish I had a upgraded rig.

God damnit.

Dunno why some of you are looking forward to the IGN review. How many years has it been since they've given a hugely anticipated game anything less than a 9.4? They don't give popular games bad scores, period.
