One tiny little thing I don't like about Wipeout

is the item box. In Mario Kart you always know what item you have because the picture in the box looks like the item. In Wipeout I feel like I'm taking a test.

"Okay, the three dots are... the missiles?"
*press Square*
*it doesn't work*
*press Square really hard*
"BSHOOOOM"
"Oh, that was the speed up."

The rest of the game is so good it makes me cry though. I just think the developers got so used to their dots and squiggles they forgot they were basically a secret code.

And it makes more sense than eating a mushroom to get bigger :P

...someone is seriously behind on both their classic English literature reading and classic video game playing, isn't he?

C'mon, you know the mushrooms in Mario didn't come from Alice in Wonderland. It's because shrooms used to be legal in Japan and...well, you know ;)

I know there's already been a lot said about the Zone, but it really is that awesome. I've unlocked a couple more tracks already. Highly addictive and the audiovisuals are great.

I liked the focus on weapon combat AND the uber tracks

Certainly. The added girth of Fusion tracks gave enough room for that gritty combat PLUS cut down on the frustrating pinball antics. I respect the old Wipeout games, but Fusion let me focus on what I like...racing and shooting, not constant fear of fraternizing with corners.

Fusion even had the Zone too. ;)

I don't know if I'm jealous of the kids that get Wipeout, Lumines and Ridge Racer on the same day or if I feel a little sorry for 'em. That's an overload of quality games right there.

Yeah, with this one she says it when you use them.

I think it's because during Wi-Fi play you don't want other people hearing what you got?

I don't know. Still annoying.

The icons really aren't that hard to remember. After a couple of hours of play, I can easily ID all of them. I suppose I still confuse the disruptor beam and earthquake thingie, but I can't be bothered looking them up in the manual, so it's my own damn fault.

The announcer calling out weapons as they're fired is actually pretty helpful, although you never know if they're targeted at you or not. I'm pretty sure if someone right behind me drops a bomb or some mines, I get the message. In fact, I've had the rocket warning, only to have it streak past me and hit the guy whose tail I'm riding, knocking him out of my way. Awesome!

At any rate, it's a helpful cue to be on your toes. It's also the only way to know when to pop off your shield if a missile or rockets might be incoming.

I cry.

C'mon, elitist super fucking genius videogame journalist industry insider guys, Wipeout or Ridge Racers?

THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE.

YOU MUST CHOOSE.

Some dumbass in another board spoiled the ending of MGA for me. >.<

I was pissed and disappointed at the same time, I'll still play it though.

Fusion sucked ass as a Wipeout title... It might have been a good racer, but it wasn't the Wipeout I love... I'm not into the racing genre, I only like Wipeout and F-Zero, so "It's a good racing game - with the Wipeout name slapped on it" wasn't good enough for me.
