HBO said it’s up to Lindelof if there’s a season two and he said he doesn’t want to do a season two just to do it and feels happy with how things are with it. He did say he’d be happy to see someone else do a season two though. So maybe HBO will go ahead with that, especially if it does well at the Emmys after all of those nominations.

Show had a good beginning.

Terrible ending, that didn't explain anything and went nowhere.

I bought the blu-ray a few weeks back. It's better to watch on a binge. But it definitely has problems with filler material that serves no purpose.

Great bluray though. They give you enough extras.

Overall, I'd rate the show a 7.5/10

A good watch, but definitely needs improvements.

FYI it was immensely successful. They offered a season 2 to Lindelof. But he said he didn't have a story for season 2 and didn't want to write a show just for the sake of it.

Hopefully another person can do a season 2 in a different setting. I believe the director (Nicole Kassell) would do a better job without Lindelof.

For the most part I enjoyed it but at the same time I think it was a little too edgy for it's own good. On the Flipside it did give us Lube Man and that Trent Reznor track 🤔

SPOILERS BELOW IF YOU AIN'T WATCHED IT.

It was actually decent until it turned out Angela's grandfather was the first Minuteman AND he was gay on the low and then she was shagging Doctor Manhattan too. One or the other, not both.

I've already seen it so I don't mind but maybe use the spoiler tags if you are gonna post spoilers like that.

I really enjoyed the show and would welcome another season. I'm one of those types that can easily ignore a sequel or successor if it doesn't live up to the standards. I say take another roll of the dice and see if we get something brilliant.

The first half was pretty decent but I really disliked the ending so I think it's for the best.

And given recent events they'd probably turn the wokeness up to 11 which would probably make it unwatchable anyway.

I loved it for the most part. I thought the ending was too “happy” for Watchmen. I really hope it is just done now. More seasons would just get bogged down and be awful like Game of Thrones.

Enjoyed the show, definitely too woke, though. Leftovers was also pointlessly well done, too, I wasn't even angry when it was over and seemed to be for almost nothing for nothing's sake.

Minor Spoilers:

Watchmen took a big shat all over Rorschach from the comics and was waiting for more depth to that since that felt overly simplistic, but it turns out there wasn't any deeper meaning beyond making a statement that Rorschach was white male bad, and they weren't even subtle about it. Disappointing.

Also, Lube Man showing up felt like a big clue there was going to be a Season 2 to explain that (I thought it was Silk Spectre's FBI partner dressing up and scanning the town, but we'll never know). The Dr. Manhattan bits were pretty good except when he went all full blue and I found myself (for once) missing the movie's version since the TV version just looked plain bad.

The ratings were good and 26 Emmy nominations is pretty insane. I’m down for another season but if they don’t I’m fine also.
It's "White Guilt: The TV Show", of course the Emmys are going to be all over it, especially after all the riot nonsense.

I can't imagine anything as disappointing as GoT's end season. What a steaming pile of script writers that don't understand audience, their own characters, or what a well-executed plot is.

Game of Thrones fell apart as soon as they couldn’t lean on already written content and had to actually develop the plot/characters on their own. That and they made the decision to completely run away from many of the interesting fantasy aspects.

the second half is pretty good, don't blame anyone for bouncing tho
I have the opposite take: I thought the series started out mysterious and interesting but eventually devolved into eye-rolling nonsense by the end. Their take on Doctor Manhattan didn't work for me at all, which definitely didn't help my enjoyment.

The only way I would be up for a second season would be if it went anthology style, like Fargo, with new characters and maybe a new location. There would probably need to be a whole new creative staff to make this idea compelling to me, though. Oh, well... at least that reflective mask was kind of neato.

Don’t understand this. The show did well both critically and in terms of viewership. It also wasn’t really woke. The bag guy was an Asian (woman) Bezos-type industrialist that secretly was pulling the strings.
Season finale got 1.6 million viewers in the first 24 hours of combined viewings (less than a million in the initial airing) and it was around 1.1-1.3 million during the season. I'd call that pretty bad. Plus the show looks like it was more expensive to make than something like The Leftovers or HBO's comedies.

I enjoyed the whole season except for the last episode. I actually though the last episode was quite abysmal. Shame really.

I'm happy with it being 1 season.

Why does that fuckboi lindelof keeps getting work? Everything he writes is shit and tanks immediately.

People seemed to really like The Leftovers. I haven't seen it so I can't comment myself.

They were apparently getting an average of 7 million viewers an episode when you include streaming. So it seems to have done well. HBO wouldn't say they are open to doing another season if its numbers were that bad.
