Open Head Surgery! Timesplitters 3 >>> You

My brother's second map:

Ultimate Egypt 1.0

It's an Egyptian-themed map that took him almost two hours to make. We were playing on it online for about an hour earlier today, and it was a blast. It's best suited to straight-up Deatmatches, and once you get a bunch of people playing (6+), it's a lot of fun.

It's got a little bit of everything. Bridges, buggies, automatic turrets, close spaces, open spaces, great weapons, and so on. Try it out; feedback is appreciated! :)

Odd that I haven't experienced this, and I have the Xbox version. Where are these 'big framerate drops' you're talking about in single player, exactly?

I've seen them too. Usually during explosions or when too many characters are near your character in a fight. It's fairly obvious. One of my compadres says he's seen it in the GC version as well, so I'm pretty sure they exist.

Doesn't matter, game is a complete blast.

I've seen it drop on rare occasions, but never for long, and never (that I can recall) when it was just me onscreen (which is what I believe he was saying before). That's why I was wondering which mission he had this happen in. And even with the infrequent drops, it's hardly enough to justify calling the overall framerate 'very crappy'--this is definitely one of the smoother console FPS's I've had the pleasure of playing. :)

So yesterday I was playing on Siberia, when I picked up the mag charger and started capping people through walls.... After racking up nearly 15 kills with the mag charger nearly everyone in the room started accusing me of cheating through the mic! Needless to say, I don't think I've ever laughed so hard on Xbox Live. I had to mute my mic so they wouldn't hear me laughing so damn loud. :lol :lol :lol

I will eventually get TS3 just for the Challenge/Arcade modes. However, when I get it depends on a few multiplayer options and adjustments.

- How improved is the bot AI? I was hoping for UT bot-like intelligence in TS2. Ugh. Not even close. 4 star bots were dumb as fuck, and couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. 5 star bots were equally dumb, but they had inhuman aim.

- Can you handicap the bot health? My friends and I prefer to play more lethal matches, and TS2 was fucking ridiclous when it came to how much damage a player could withstand. Evening out the playing field with the bots would have made for a better experience.

- Are there more interesting and varied "low end" weapon choices? Most of the TS2 weapons were high-powered/high-tech/ultra high-speed armaments. Seeing how Free Radical is trying to keep the "Goldeneye feeling" alive, it'd be nice to play some matches that have more subdued, Bond-like weapon selections.

Anyone? Bueller?

I still don't have TS3 yet, but if it's anything like TS2, you can customize the weapon sets used within a map. With the right weapon selection, you can get a very similar feel to Goldeneye.

Can you download maps too on the PS2 version?

Features are identical from what I understand.

Any Xbox owners with the game fancy sharing gamertags in this thread briefly? I still havent played it online yet, I'd like to give it a go when I get home from work tomorrow if anyone fancies wasting me at it :D

I'm off for time being anyway. G'night!

:lol

Sounds fantastic; my brother will love that one. I'll have to try it out tomorrow.

My gamertag is Drakken688. Send me an invite if you see me on!

Right now, I'm doing speed runs. I have the #1 time on Scotland the Brave and The Khallos Express on Xbox Live (on Easy diff.), though both could be improved. Does strafing help you go faster? I know some people do it, but I've always just walked forward normally. Strafing would seem awkward to me, as you wouldn't be able to see where you are going, since you're turned sideways.

Free Radical Design is currently working on a series of improvements for TimeSplitters Future Perfect on Xbox Live. The following improvements are underway:

* Game Quality Indicator - to indicate whether network conditions are likely to affect the quality of your game.

* Clans - self explanatory.

* Message Of The Day - for news and important announcements.

* Recommended Maps - to point you in the direction of high quality user-created maps.

* Improved Menu Flow - various improvements, including the ability to return to the game lobby between matches, countdowns to show when the game is about to start, the ability for the clients to force the game to start regardless of what the host is doing.

* Improved Map Browsing - more complex searches, to make it easier to find exactly what you're looking for.

* Improved Voice Quality

* Game Joining Improvements - improved tolerance to poor network conditions when joining games.

At the moment, there is no definite date for these improvements to be made available.

Sounds good to me.
