the secret sauce of the algorithm is already public and open source. the reason they probably are holding back the production code is because it's likely riddled with ccp data collection.

I don't normally post on this side, but the ResetERA replies on this topic are quite disgusting. A bunch of pseudo-progressive corporate shill lemmings openly (and secretly) salivating at Microsoft acquiring yet another massive corporate entity, deluding themselves into thinking MS are some leagues-better option than X (hint: MS, Apple and Google all donated the MOST money to Trump's inauguration exactly for reasons like this, idiots!).
Think: if they were genuine progressives, they could do without access to a platform that ultimately contributes little value to society or their own much-hyped progressive ideals. They would've rather see TikTok get banned if it'd mean acting as a potential blight on Trump's record.
But I've said a long time ago, none of the people at ResetERA are genuinely that progressive at all: they are quick to get behind any other massive multi-trillion dollar conglomerate if it means they can pretend they get their precious timewasting TikTok and delude themselves into thinking it's "taking a stand" against Trump & Musk when the companies in the bidding have already donated hundreds of millions to Trump & friends directly (as have they when he was President last time).

For real. Truth is they aren't much any different from the people they claim to hate. They're just way less honest with themselves.
Funny thing too is I joked MS was gonna be one of the companies to buy TikTok before the ban happened. Either them, Apple, or Google. Didn't see Oracle or Walmart (LOL) in the running tho, because I didn't think they would be interested in the platform since it seems well outside their typical fields.
