Oracle announces $300b deal with OpenAI, Will Require Two Hoover Dams of Electricity

Anyone else find it strikingly odd that A.I sucks up power like no tomorrow but quite a few countries have been hoodwinked into believing their energy needs will come from windmills and farting
That sounds like a recipe for a new kojima game.

What makes me laugh about that possibility of the incoming clean fusion energy.

Its taking the UK government what 10 years to build just one new nuclear plant. Lets say we get fusion workable in 2040. Will be 2070 before the first plant is built.

Some of these server farms for AI are reportedly needing 1 gigawatt of power. That's an insane amount of juice.

I'm sick of it all :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I watched a video with that Dominic Cummings recently who went into deep detail how the British government, the civil service and home office work etc.

He says for any big project like building a section of new motorway or A road takes 20 to 30 years. I did some googling and it's true. There was a road planned in the 90s that only just got completely recenty.

Took china 3 years to build a huge bridge over a river.

Same in the US. Big public infrastructure projects are A. opportunities for the politicians involved to make BANK by awarding contracts to their big donors, buy up land themselves and then sell it back to the gov, and invest in the places that will supply the project, B. litigation nightmares due to over regulation, the slow cumbersome bidding process (to fuel A), and the absolute avoidance of risk by taking as long as possible to make as few decisions as possible, and C. raise taxes and bonds TODAY, ostensibly for a project TOMORROW, but to really pay the debts of YESTERDAY.
