Tbh I would be pissed off if I took the time to fill out a survey and didn't get what was promised, moreso if loads of other people got the code and abused it like crazy. Not to the degree that I threaten to cancel my preorders lol but still

My God the salt.

"I spent two seconds on a survey and didn't get a $20 game for it, yet you gave the entire internet all the free games they want? WAHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

Is Kotaku so desperate for content that they are just skimming forums for troll posts and publishing it as news?

I think the main argument is that EA is saying it's okay that people abused the system to get free games. I agree with EA, but I can see the other side's point how it could be a slap in the face to those who want to remain loyal and make legit purchases.

What were they waiting for? Go buy your games as soon as you complete the survey. They really couldn't take an extra 10 minutes to make the purchase? I'm guessing some of these people complaining didn't read the fine print to begin with and thought the code was indefinite. Furthermore the code couldn't be used on games released in the last 30 days. So once again, what were they waiting for?

The entitlement issues at play are pretty immense though. Some of them don't seem to be upset due to loyalty as much as they are upset that their hard labor (taking the survey) wasn't justly rewarded with a $20 code.

It's Kotaku. They do it all the time.

They have to do something between Snacktaku and "look how wacky Japan is; isn't it just so wacky?" article number nine thousand.

People on the internet will cry about anything.

They really will. There was nothing stopping them from taking advantage of it either, but because they were either A) too much of a pussy to do it out of an irrational fear EA would ban them or B) too high up on their horse to bend the rules and take advantage of a company's mistake, now they're complaining because it backfired on them. Too fucking bad.

Guarantee I'm going to screw up this post? Yeah.
I'm glad that we get to keep the games, though I already owned most of the games that I wanted, but I did get a few.

I did the survey, looked at the games, and decided to pass. Didn't know I could load up on free games, but I probably wouldn't have played any of them for more than a few minutes. Oh well.

Those people crying foul over this, threatening lawsuits, etc are ridiculous beyond words. It's sad, really.

Imagine the complaints if they didn't let people keep the tons of free games they gave away due to a glitch.

This is great :p too bad I already owned like 99% of the games. Ended up getting DA2 for that price drop I always wanted...

Same here. Grabbed DA2 for free as that was the only price I'd pay for it. then decided to try MoH and get the DA:O expansion as well. Most other stuff was of no interest to me. I did try in vain for about an hour on several different browsers/computers to get ME3 but that was to good to be true.

I would have never bought Bulletstorm or even looked at what kind of game it was, now I can see I've been missing out and will probably buy People Can Fly's next Non-Gears of War game at full price.

This is the best type of marketing.

Well this sucks. I took the survey yesterday but the code never worked and now the promotion is ending before the 21st? What BS is this?

If a payment is not given in some fashion to the amount of $20 to spend on an item of our choice, then this survey is a scam, something not tolerated by the BBB or the internet at large. EA is in for a world of hurt if it doesn't get its act together. While I, personally, will not be doing anything, I know how the internet works.

EA will feel the burn on this one.

Yeah, you didn't get $20 off a game for 5 mins of effort because they had to stop everyone on the net from abusing a glitch to get 100s of dollars worth of free games. Awful, ain't it?

Good for those who capitalized. Everyone else needs to move on.

:lol at the bitter tears.

People don't give a shit about a survey and do nothing.

Others abuse the system and get free games.

EA lets everyone off.

The people who didn't give a shit cry.

Pretty awesome they're letting us keep the games. I think EA deserves a free pass for the next shitty thing they do, which I expect to be used before the year is over.

On one hand, they have a right to be salty. Code was promised to work till the 21st. But on the other hand, it's quite hilarious how entitled people feel.

The in-game app sends you to the xbox.com/live website and the website itself is giving me an unknown error at step 2... smh... Just tried to make it again and "There was an error creating the Microsoft account, please try again later." Awesome.

Games for Windows Live, ladies and gentlemen.

Unless you're wanting to play multiplayer, which is dead, you can just make an offline profile.
