I mean.. nothing really untrue about it.. but Floyd is a smart man for doing it that way. "Taking risks" as a boxer is literally taking risks with your life, your future, your ability to enjoy your late adulthood, etc.

No kidding. Mayweather isn't going to stand and bang, and people who thought he would have never seen him fight recently. And yet we had all this nonsense about lawsuits because they felt scammed. It speaks to a severe misunderstanding of what boxing is.

Floyd is just an amazing fighter, but he is boring to watch, you'd have to be in the minority to find him as enjoyable as other fighters that aren't as technical.

Oscar has had a serious hard-on for Floyd for years now, and this letter comes across as petty moreso than anything else. Which is a shame, because some valid points are made. Floyd did pick his opponents carefully. Floyd did run his mouth a lot. Floyd did whatever he could to give himself an advantage in each fight.

But at the end of the day, in an ATG list, Mayweather > Oscar, and it's not even that close. Bonus points for calling out Floyd's spending habbits while spending shitloads of your fortune on drugs, though.
At the end of the day, there aren't many fighters that didn't get their shot. He beat just about everyone there was to beat.

Don't know why Oscar's been so salty about Floyd. Even after he lost, he tried to give all of Floyd's following opponents his "blueprint" on how to beat him.

People talking shit about Mayweather likely have no idea who The Cotto or Alvarez even are.

You're absolutely right. Next Saturday if I make a Cotto vs Canelo thread all the people shitting on May weather about being boring should be posting about the fight in that thread right?

lol De la Hoya fuck outta here

You got your ass beat and Floyd already beat Canelo. Bitching about Floyd being a technical fighter and not taking punches is like bitching about Curry bombing 3's from deep and not mucking it up in the paint like Iverson or Rose did.

Brehs who can't stand dominance will eat this lame shit up though

Floyd beat him in the ring and then stepped away and beat him in the promoting game. Floyd left Golden Boy to do his own thing and made a shit load more money on his own. Oscar seems mad that he put in all this work but doesn't even have the biggest PPVs under his umbrella.

He's a piece of shit that beats women.

He doesn't deserve your sympathy.

When you start talking shit about someone's illiteracy caused by a shitty, impoverished upbringing, you're not just talking shit about them.

Mayweather is a piece of shit, but it has nothing to do with his inability to read.

I don't know what's more shameful, this salty af letter written by a beat dog or gaffers hooting and hollering over a tired ass joke about a man's illiteracy. Impune and make fun of Mayweather all you want for who he is now. I'm sure we can all agree he deserves that for some of the distasteful and downright heinous shit he has done, but illiteracy ain't the thing to make fun of. Mocking someone's poor childhood education doesn't make you clever, just scummy.

As for De La Hoya, this letter is an embarassment. Mayweather is a perfect boxer, and he knows it. Mayweather got the sweet science down to a science, and he knows it. Mayweather fought greats and never ran, and he knows it. All this letter does is parrot ignorant, uneducated bullshit haters having been spewing for years and years because they can't come to terms with fact.

Funny thing about boxing is that it takes two to box. Mayweather may not have been a showy fighter, but he was never alone in that ring. He was only one part of the equation, but somehow his opponents' inability to overcome his style of fighting - which is boxing at its purest form; hit and don't get hit - made him solely responsible for "boring" fights.

FOH with that salty ass bullshit.

Want to see what a monster fight looks like? Canelo takes on Miguel Cotto on November 21. It won’t do 4.4 million in PPV buys, but everyone who watches it will be thrilled. And that’s no empty promise.
A monster fight between two guys that lost to Floyd. lol

Yeah, it's gotta be the business end that has Oscar mad. Just like Arum.

You know, you're right. I apologize for mocking his illiteracy.

It saddens me that he won't be able to read my apology, though.

Yes, and? Says more about Floyd than those two actually. They're still monsters in the ring, even with that loss on their records. Not sure what you're trying to say here, but please proceed.

Pffft, nevermind I misread what you were saying.

Floyd left Golde Boy less than a year before making the mega fight with Manny. You know the money Oscar missed out on keeps him up at night.

My thoughts exactly. Floyd kicked the dog shit out of him in their fight. Didn't even make through Oscars whole tirade because he sounds bitter as hell that he'll never have the legacy Floyd will.

I'm a big boxing fan and will be watching the fight. I'm just pointing out Oscar's salt and hypocrisy. He talks about Floyd ducking guys all his career, then goes on about two monsters that just happened to lose to him in recent years.

Sad but also amusing coming from DLH. He of all people should appreciate Mayweathers technique having been on the receiving end of it and I'm sure he actually does. Gotta get those clicks though.

True, however that doesn't take away from those two fighters, that just reinforces how good Mayweather actually is. This will mostly likely be fight if the year.

Thing is, Oscars got a great legacy. He was like a modern Sugar Ray in how successful and popular he was. Probably the biggest post-Tyson draw in the sport, and the guy to really bring the focus back to the lighter weight classes. He's got nothing to prove, which is why his incessant hating of a fellow great boxer looks even more pathetic.

The biggest irony in all this when you talk about Oscar's legacy is that maybe the biggest fight in his career from that standpoint was the fight against Tito Trinidad, which is a fight he lost largely due to the fact that he spent the last 3-4 rounds...wait for it...running! Because he thought he had the fight won and wanted to coast to a decision. Way to take a risk there, Oscar.

That's what I think every time I see Canelo destroy someone. The Cotto fight should be a good one, but I don't think it'll be close. Canelo's gonna be too much for him at this point in his career.

If you mean best by being one of the most boring overrated fighters ever than you are right. otherwise he is not even close to one of the best.

Overrated probably doesn't mean what you think it means.

Ain't another boxer that has dominated like Floyd Mayweather has. Hell, to my knowledge there ain't even been an athlete in any sport as dominant as Mayweather.
