Overwatch 2 Introduces New Character Sojourn

I can't watch the trailer without chuckling because the woman questioning her has a voice like one I will do all the time in the house:

"eet sounds laik you 'oped for thee impossible"

Makes me think of a female Adebisi:

Trailer has leaked

A soldier 76 machine gun
A slide and super jump
A mini zarya gravity bomb skill
And a Quake style Rail Gun as an ult

This character is going to be the 2nd most popular DPS as long as she isn't overly nerfed.

The legs look really weird in that trailer. Like the legs move but nothing else on their body does.
Her leg movement is overly exaggerated to the point where it makes her upper body look stiff.

Seems like a pretty boring/vanilla/conventional design, in the gameplay as well, what's the point? Make new characters unique and cool. Surely a robot/cyborg/whatever could had way more special tricks up its sleeve but all they show is boring sci-fi gunstuff and Idk, maybe a double jump?
The character you're wanting was Echo. This character feels like they wanted to put an Apex Legends character in Overwatch.

Fuck man fooled me for a second . I was slowly scrolling and reading and I was like no way Sony marketed the ass. Till I scrolled down more and I noticed it's a blue ray and these are fingers !

Here's the official english trailer:

Overwatch queue times are high due to lack of tank players in the overwatch community, and the first class of hero they choose to show off is a dps.

Then they show her shooting in front of her team's shield tank....which would likely get you killed during normal gameplay.

Blizzard should just remove tanks from the game and make it a arena deathmatch.

As a fellow arcade enjoyer, I've agreed with this sentiment for a long, long time(and it felt like they were headed that way with ranked Deathmatch), but TDM and DM would need their own re-workings and balancing so that all teams aren't full of Reapers and Roadhogs.

Game definitely needs more healers and tanks, but I imagine they are hard to design.

Looking forward to 2 finally coming out as I haven't played for almost 2 years at this point due to lack of content (after almost played 4 years straight). Moving from ps4 to series X so all my costumes I collected are likely gone now along with my 102,000 worth of credits I have saved up. (Unless they actually use your blizzard account to transfer.

I used to really like this game but haven't played in at least a year. Way too much nerfing of characters. Blizzard Overwatch team has serious problems, their focus on a non existent pro league for balancing changes has led to a game that has turned many casual players away.

Blizzard needed to give massive buffs to tanks and support to push players to want to play these classes, also reverse several changes to characters that removed them from support roles (torbjorn and symmetry). Finally all heroes that were released should have support or tank in the last couple of years. Instead all the Overwatch studios talked about was the problems in the pro meta and they fixed it by nerfing tanks and support. Then they complain no one wants to play tanks. Then everyone is upset by queue times. Then everyone leaves.

On topic Overwatch 2 looks terrible. They shot themselves in the foot targeting PS4/Xbox one and guaranteeing cross compatibility with Overwatch one, which means they have to carry all the crappy baggage and bad decisions along for the ride.

It's funny you should mention this, had been watching xQc and Cr1TiKaL play the new Gundam Evolution stress test (essentially Gundam overwatch) and they both really enjoyed there time with it.

One of the key factors, especially for Cr1TiKaL was there where no predefined "roles" or "less bullshit" as he put it, no giant sheilds or supports who's only role is to heal and revive. For example the sniper class that can one-shot pretty much every mech in the game has a long range revive gun, the Dom Trooper which is designed for constant mid range harassment with his rocket launcher and laser can apply armour every 7 seconds to team mates, the GM and Pale Rider both mid/close range harassers have healing abilties for their team and themselves.

Essentially you can have fun killing people as a tanky frame, you can have fun killing people as a frame with support abilties, and you sure as hell can have fun as a frame who's full focus is on damage.

Overwatch lacks that, which is fine TF2 has done incredibly well for a game with defined class roles. However the diffrence is Overwatch is balanced for esports and TF2 is balanced for casual fun... in Overwatch your not allowed to have fun without some guy screaming your choosing a none meta pick, I believe if Gundam stays off the "I want to be an esports" train it has a chance to be fun. Overwatch 2 will never get that chance.

This reads like the opinion of a player who prefers to play DPS. It is nothing more than an individual opinion and has no value if you take the whole situation into account.

There are actually a lot of players who also like play highly specialised classes like healer or tanks.

You don't always have to reinvent the wheel and understand that Overwatch is also successful because it relies on classes. Overwatch has several heroes for which you hardly need any aiming skills, if at all. That's also why it appeals to many players who would never play Overwatch if there would only be DPS (with some minor support skills).

This was in response to a comment that was talking about excessive queue times in Overwatch due to no one playing tank roles... so those "attracted types" arnt playing...

And for people with no skill and who can't aim and would avoid DPS's roles with minor support skills...

You can still cater to that market with character designs with support abilties that can effectively engage in combat, Guntank was super popular in the network test for this reason.

Thank god they added another DPS to the game. There were far too little of them, and were underrepresented.

This is our first clue that OW2 will not be very good.

Gundam Evolution looks better than anything Overwatch has done. I may actually give it a try.

Geezus, the anti-DPS crowd never stops, do they? I remember people whining about Echo being DPS and saying there needed to be another support. Because apparently the post-launch support heroes Ana, Brigitte, Moira, and Baptiste just weren't enough.

For anyone claiming OW2 will be anti-tank, come the fuck on. In the major developer update video they had a year ago, they talked about the buffs each class would get and tank will be doing just fine. God, they specified Reinhardt's buffs and they sounded absolutely insane……

Gundam Evolution's legs and future worry me for 2 reasons:

1) For non-Gundam fans, the names are not memorable and aren't easy to remember for callouts. They should have used the names of the characters who used their respective Gundams, instead of using the Gundam names themselves. It would make them stand out easier also, by seeing names like Hiro, Ray, Judau, etc. This would also give them more personality and there could be voice lines added. Right now it's just the cold sounds of machinery and an announcer, and every now and then you'll hear a generic 'let's stop them!' and you don't even know which unit it's coming from.

2) The Map variety. This might be a matter of taste but the environments are merely a backdrop and the actual map you're moving around in is full of gray walls, machinery and factory-looking objects. I guess if that's the aesthetic it is what it is, but looking from a general perspective it doesn't help the game stand out artistically.

A soft 3rd worry of mine is their road map, because I haven't seen much regarding it but I might need to do more research. I'd like Evolution grow to become a serious competitor to OW so that both games can improve, but some of their design decisions might hinder it from reaching a wider audience. Right now it's getting traction because people are tired of Overwatch and streamers are checking it out, but I've seen this happen with competitor games to big titles before and then the userbase bounces back to the more popular game after a few months.

Her design is solid. I'll check out the game play later

For people not understanding why they out in a dps, its because doa are the most popular playtime in the game and they sell more copies by showing you what most people are gonna be using

Did he just eject the Core Fighter and use it as a missile? That's where the pilot is sitting.

He totally just committed bukkake...

The game is miserable if you queue as a tank or a support, with half the choice in characters to play and a much more restricted variety in playstyles.

The game needs all classes to have as many characters to choose from.

I still see hard to justify this sequel. The first one still has tons of players and Blizzard is expecting them to move to the "new game".

Sonic Team had every Intention internally to make Phantasy Star Online 3, but instead chose to call it Phantasy Star Online: New Genesis and refer to it as an expansion to PSO2.
---
All blizzard had to do was add the word Season (Overwatch: Season 2 lol) the current trend, and things probably would hav we been different... probably (not)

I could see an argument being made for tank as three of them are shield characters (but I mean, shields are very useful), but support? Ana, Baptiste, Brigitte, Lucio, Mercy, Moira, and Zenyatta all have very different play styles.

Multiplayer Overwatch (1) ceases to exist once Overwatch 2 is out. Everyone that owns Overwatch (1) will automatically have their game upgraded to Overwatch 2 and the original game won't be playable anymore. The paid content for Overwatch 2 (essentially the new PvE component) will be an additional cost.

Haven't played OW yet but I'm a fairly frequent Paladins player, which is so fast paced that I love it, I hope OW2 is too because that's what some players of both criticize from OW. Paladins will probably die in the next 3 to 5 years and I don't want that hole in my heart :(

Not having a substitute to Gunbound still hurts me everyday.
