I know I am very late, but what fucking brilliant series this is! They are re-airing OZ on swedish tv right now, and I really regret that I missed it the first time. I am at season 3 and I can't wait until next episode. OZ is brutal, but also capture the prison life in a real way (I think). There are no cheap shortcuts in this series, and its strongest points are the believable actors. Schillinger, Ryan O'reiley, Adebisi, Said, Beecher, Alvarez, Macmanus, Glynn (hurray for Ernie Hudson), keller, dr nathan and the best of them all, augustus.

I heard they pulled the plug after season 6 though, too bad.

The last few seasons started to suck, so they were right in pulling the plug IMO.

Overall, it's a good series. A steady diet of ultraviolence, murder, disfigurement and gay rape.

Yeah... if you are into mean, gay rape... it is the show for you...

It was a good, scary show at times... the time the chick on deathrow was banging one of the guards... that was a turn-on for some sick reason...

Well, the chick was hot (and kinda creepy), that's probably the reason.

I believe IRL she's married to the guy who plays MacManus.

She is also on an NBA cop-type show... with Beecher actor...

You mean with the actor who playes Keller, Beecher's creepy boyfriend. It's Law & Order Special Victims Unit, I think.

On a related note, everytime I see JK Simmons,

on Spiderman, on the Ladykillers or whatever, I think "That Schillinger is one vicious bastard". :lol

Funniy thing is, Schillinger was likable. I'm black and I liked that sumbitch.

And it goes to hell in season 5, when they give inmates a drug that makes them elderly instead of life sentences.

Totally awesome show, the middle part "Adebisi years" totally ruled! Even later ones just like x-files were better then most of crap out there even if by the shows standards they sucked.

I really liked OZ, the first two seasons are absolutely brilliant. The middle seasons were still good, and the final two were rubbish (i kept watching just to see how it ended). The writers really ran out of ideas towards the end, and started to randomly kill people and try to top the level of violence of the previous season... still, it's a great show overall.

It was Season 4.

And the chick on Death Row was called shirley bellinger.

I love being nerdy
