This is a myth. No one has ever been banned on GAF for using an ad block. One person was banned for being an aggressive ass hole about it.

As for the point if GT is even necessary with things like YouTube/Twitch...there's a debate to be had.

The problem with gametrailers is that they have popup adds and adds that actually redirects your entire browser to games on apple's istore. Like, I'm reading forum or looking through the site and suddenly I'm at the app-store and have to press back in my browser to get back to whatever I was doing. This has been reported to gametrailers for a long time and yet they haven't fixed it yet.

The questioner does have a point: games journalism is little more than PR these days, and I wouldn't be too surprised if YouTube and Twitch is going to kill off most of the dedicated games sites like GameTrailers due to publishers and developers wanting to skip the middleman. Hell, CVG is getting killed off, and that's Future's flagship gaming website. It's already happening.

I wouldn't be fussed about ads, but really, when they're intrusive and delay me looking at what I want to look at, it can go.

Pach can go skinny dipping in a super volcano. Adblock is my best friend and allows me to experience the internet as it was, over 10 years ago. Minus the lacking color palette.

That said, GAF gets love.. and right now, GAF is showing me love with a stupendous ad from Dominoes Pizza, for 2 medium, 2 topping pizzas for $5.99 each.
