PAL Charts - Week 46, 2010

Just an overall impression but the amount of videogames ads here (in Spain) is the biggest I've ever seen. Last year was already a bloodbath but this year takes the crown. A few years ago you'd only see some kids licensed games for PS2...

A list of what I saw lately: lots of Epic Mickey, Art Academy, Michael Jackson, Just Dance 2, Move, Kinect, rerunnings/new ads of Layton 3, Wii Fit Plus, Wii Party, Galaxy 2, NSMB Wii...even PSP stuff as in hardware bundles with Eye Pet, new Invizimals, something called Patito Feo targeting young girls...more Fifa, started seeing DKC Returns, Kinectimals, NFS Hot Pursuit. To be honest it surprised me the lack of GT5 (very little amount I saw) and AC Brotherhood (haven't seen any), also COD Black Ops (saw a few at launch, none now). WOW Cataclysm is also shown regularly, and that for a PC game in Spain is unexpected. Hardware bundles getting ads from retailers as well (PS3 Move bundle from Media Markt, Red Wii from Hipercor...). This is all on casual tv watching...if I were to watch kids tv spaces it'd be full of Ben10, Bakugan, Bob Squarepants...

Haha, yeah I suppose that's true :lol
But still, I expect it to do better next week :)
Well the chances are very small. For all the media products (movies, music, games and even for books) the number of sleepers are between 0 and 2%. This means out of 100 games only 2 usually have an convex lifetime graph. This number might be a little higher for wii games but if you look at the total number of wii games, you will get the same result.

Off topic: did we have 100 new games for wii this year?

I counted 176 Wii games at ToTheGame.com that was released in 2010 in "UK/Euro". And from what i can see, all of these games are retail games, i didnt see any Virtual Console game etc. in this list (i didnt check very carefully though, but i think i would have noticed some Virtual Console game at least).

Sure but just today two Wii games improved on their first week! OK Epic Mickey wasn't much of an improvement... As much as I don't like Nintendo's advertising, it seems they're very effective at boosting sales well beyond launch week.

Whats the number in the UK now? I didn't check yet.

It was estimated at 265-275k for week one. Assuming 270k, factoring in week 2 (-61%) it should be around 375k.

At least Epic Mickey was sub-£30.

DKCR is far too expensive.

Came with an 8£ gift certificate at HMV, to make it £~30. Saw epic mickey commercials at many of the underground station (bought GoldenEye and DKCR instead because of the reception in the OT's)

Can I make a quick suggestion? When the new charts comes out can someone actually make a new thread for them instead of just posting them in the old chart thread and either making a new thread later or not making one at all, or at least make a PAL charts OT or something.
It's getting to be really confusing.

If you want to volunteer too to put up the threads every week and update them with all the other charts from Europe, maybe you should talk to dabra.

Best I could do: 30k > DKCR < 49k
