Paradigm shift = wireless online play?

PA: Are these steps online a shift for the company, going forward?

R: Absolutely. Make no mistake, Nintendo is absolutely embracing the concept of wireless online play. We're going to do it in a way that truly provides the gamer an enriching experience. We're going to put our full development efforts behind it across all our key franchises, and we're creating the tools for the developer to do it as well. So versus the mentality of one online game for the Gamecube, I'd call that a pretty significant paradigm shift.

Could this be the paradigm shift Iwata was talking about?

If that's the case, Linksys and I have been paradigm shifting for years now. Get behind me folks, Tim is THE INNOVATION KING.

Think about this: If this was the big idea, what would they need to protect it's identity at E3 for? There's not much of a secret to online. You either support it or you don't.

You know, I have lots of random, pointless questions of my own, but I tend to keep the to myself becasue I don't NEED the attention.

It'd be pretty big if they supported it, supported it well, genres typically not online were on it, it was still free, and if it turned out very good.

It's not just if they support it or not. It's how they support it.

I think the true quirk of Revolution will be its interface though. It's the only thing that'll allow them to make new genres, or make old ones seem new.

I so wish someone archived that "online gaming is worthless" thread last year before Neo-GAF. I bet the same people are now excited for wireless online play on DS and Revolution.

Online gaming never had Nintendo titles before though did it. It's not wrong if Nintendo fans weren't interested before but are now. It'd make sense in fact. Let's face it, a bulk of the heavyweight online titles are MMORPGs or FPS... that's not for everybody.

If this response came after mine for any reason other than coincidence - my XBL tag is radioheadrule and I've played PC games online for years. Thank-ye-very-much.

Heh, nah the post wasn't directed to yours. I'm just curious who hated online gaming before but are now excited for online gaming on a Nintendo console
