Paramount to produce Splinter Cell Movie!

This will be the greatest video game movie in history. Unlike the other movies this series isn't set so much into fantasy so it can't be f'd up too much.

I like George Clooney, but theres no way that he should play Sam Fisher. He's more of a comedic guy and Sam is a serious role. I don't think I could take him seriously.

Ironside obviously has the voice but he can't carry a film on his own. Plus he's much better at playing bad guys in movies.

Casting Sam Fisher isn't easy. There aren't many middle aged actors that fit the bill. The person that I immediately think of is John Travolta but I can't stand him plus he's put on a lot of weight. Michael Madsen might be okay but he's got the same problems as Ironside. Then of course you could go with people who have done similar films in the past like Val Kilmer (The Saint), and Tom Cruise (Mission Impossible). If worst comes to worst they could choose someone younger and do a prequel. If thats the case they should go with Christian Bale or Matt Damon.

Oh, there's plenty of ways to fuck it up. Ever seen Sum of All Fears? That other recent Tom Clancy related film?

It sucked!

I can't ever have hope for a videogame movie until one proves me wrong. I hope it is this one because it would make for a pretty badass movie if done right. I could imagine a Bourne Supremacy/Manchurian Candidate type mix which would be awesome.

A-hahaha. Well, none of us will be laughing when it's set on Mars and the main antagonists end up being hell demons.

I thought he played a good bad-ass role in Dusk Till Dawn.

Now this has potential

Tom Clancy brand + No Ben Affleck = possibilities.

Get Harrison ford in there as Sams boss and you're onto a winner.

p.s How about Tom Jane (Punisher) to play Sam?

Thomas Jane is the perfect candidate.

He has the look.

Also here's somethin VERY wierd:

JT Petty left Ubi soft not too long ago to work in the hollywood industry.

He's now penning the script for the Batman Begins game... which is a direct gameplay rip-off of Splinter Cell. All of this for EA.(EA and Ubi are bitter enemies in montreal).

And now he's workin on the script of a movie on a Ubi Soft property?

This is odd.

He was pretty good in that but the whole movie was over the top. I didn't take him seriously in that either but then again I didn't take the movie seriously so it balanced things out. Everything was on the same page.

Clooney is at his best when he's got a lot of dialogue to work with. He even had a lot to work with in From Dusk Til Dawn. The role of Sam Fisher is the exact opposite. Sam is the strong silent type and that isn't Cloony's forte. I mean look at his performance in Batman & Robin for goodness sake. He was by far the worst Batman in any of the movies.

True, true. There is always Dolph Lundgren (sp?)... :lol

Should have gotten John Woo. That would have perfectly captured the 'splinter cell' feel.

It would? Splinter Cell is about stealth. John Woo movies are about shooting guns and blowing stuff up.

Here's something not to look forward to...

Peter Berg is a total hack director... This will be flashy nonsense.

Gotta disagree, for a young studio director this guy shows promise. Friday Night Lights and The Rundown were both pretty good actually. Plus, he's a decent actor to boot. I think this could turn out very, very well.

I thought Sam Fisher cracked little jokes throughout his games? I think Clooney would fit the bill perfectly. He can juggle the badass and funny quite well.

Yes, but can Clooney do splits like Sam Fisher? :lol
This does have potential as I did enjoy Rundown (also directed by Peter Berg).

Sam is modeled after Clooney.
When they interviewed the executive producer of the first splinter cell, he said "If they ever made a movie I'd like Clooney to play sam."

No, these were both flashy drivel and Berg's Very Bad Things is one of the most cynical, inexcusably "hip" movies I ever had the displeasure to sit through.
