Tom Henderson says the Splinter cell remake looks genuinely impressive

Since Montreal is working on Prince of Persia im gonna guess this game is gonna be powered by Snowdrop....hopefully NOT Disrupt and certainly not Dunia right....right?

That teaser image doesn't look genuinely impressive.

Its from Pandora Tomorrow

The same way they messed up PoP remake?

It was announced in what 2022....we havent even seen any actual gameplay of it.
How have they messed it up?

We even got a teaser last year:

And its Montreal handling this, so almost certainly they will be using Anvil.
Im still hyped.

No idea why they havent made a Splinter Game like MGS Ground Zero/Hitman games.
Because and actual immersive stealth experience would take effort. Ubisoft's idea of stealth is crouch to be invisible then hide in tall grass and whistle.

What matters is the gameplay and thats the issue Ubisoft has…
Hard to get hyped for this, I want much muuuuuuch bigger levels, more freedom to approach objectives etc..Time will tell of course

Ubisoft usually delivers in the graphics and visuals department, so I'm not doubtful about that.

It's the gameplay loop and bloat they fail at. Since this is a remake, hopefully that won't be a problem. 🤞

A splinter cell game would only need to do a very focused game play loop, not 'all in one' like the AC games so it should be 'easier' comparatively, I suppose.

But imagine a new SC game with real dynamic RTGI powered lights.

RTGI will do amazing for a game that's all about light sources and taking them out.

True. But I highly doubt Ubisoft would make an old-school-type new Splinter Cell game now.

They're too formulaic and wouldn't spend $100+ million dollars on a purely single-player game that has no potential for in-game monetization. And that's such a shame.

Never played a splinter cell game. The only tom Clancyish game I tried was the division which I liked. Huge blind spot in my video game history so I'm pretty amped about this news

Why do we need a remake? Can't these clowns do something new? I mean, it could be a new game in the exact same style of the old, and I'd be more than fine with that.

A faithful remake preserves the legacy, you're not losing anything, you're gaining a modern version

But you want 'something new' but in the exact same style, huh?

I didn't say "exact," but I don't see how these two things are inherently incompatible with one another.

Who knows where they're going with this. We only know where it'll end up, though: right in the bin, because Ubisoft doesn't know how to actually make games. They can't even steal properly from their predecessors.
